First time I saw High Noon Thresh load in, I thought Riot finally figured out what to do with the cowboy fantasy. Thresh as a spectral gunslinger sheriff from some cursed frontier town. Fits him better than it has any right to. Been running this skin in ranked for a solid stretch back in season 8 and still come back to it now and then when I get tired of the flashier options.
What the skin actually brings to the table
So the whole model is reworked into this undead desperado look. Thresh trades his lantern for what looks like a cursed oil lamp with that signature green soul glow swapped out for a warm amber and orange palette. His hook and chain get the western treatment too. The hat alone sells it honestly.
VFX are where Riot put the work in. His Q flies out with this dusty trail effect, kinda feels like a lasso whipping through dry air. Not gonna lie, the hook animation reads slightly different to me than base Thresh, and I swear my hook accuracy went up the first week I used it. Placebo probably but still. W lantern drop has this nice ember particle burst. E flay sweeps with a gritty sand effect that looks clean in teamfights when you’re peeling for your ADC. R – the Box – puts down these spectral fence posts with orange energy walls between them. The whole thing reads like a supernatural corral. Played maybe 40 games with it last month specifically in bot lane and the R visibility is solid, your team actually notices the walls.
Recall animation is a highlight. Thresh does this quick-draw showdown thing. Short and punchy. Voice lines stay base though, no new VO which is expected at the 1350 RP tier.
The High Noon line and where Thresh fits
High Noon dropped August 30, 2018. Right at the tail end of summer that year. Alvin Lee nailed the splash, the composition with Thresh tipping his hat while souls swirl around him is genuinely one of the better splash arts in his catalog. (Random aside: I had this as my Discord avatar for like six months straight.)
The High Noon skinline is one of Riot’s most consistent themes. Lucian, Yasuo, Jhin all got solid entries. Thresh fits the supernatural side of the line, the demonic outlaws rather than the mortal gunslingers. Could be wrong here but I think Thresh was part of the wave that really expanded High Noon beyond just cowboys into this whole angels-and-demons western mythology thing.
5 chromas available for this one. Obsidian is my pick, it darkens everything up and gives Thresh that menacing look that matches his kit fantasy. Tanzanite pulls in this deep purple that reads like dark magic on the Rift, pretty unique vibe compared to the base orange. Pearl exists if you want the cleaner look but honestly its not my style for a champion who collects souls.
Should you buy High Noon Thresh?
Real verdict: this is a strong Epic skin. 1350 RP feels fair for what you get. The VFX overhaul carries it hard. Model is clean, recall is fun, and the thematic just works for Thresh. Been spamming this in Diamond during those stretches where I get support filled and I never feel like Im settling for a worse option compared to Dark Star or Pulsefire.
If you’re a Thresh main or even someone who plays him every third game in ranked, High Noon is worth the lock-in. The Q especially just feels satisfying to land with that trail effect. Only real competition at this price point is Blood Moon for the aesthetic crowd. But for gameplay feel and visual clarity in lane? High Noon takes it.
Skip it if you already own Pulsefire or the Prestige version though. Three Thresh skins is excessive unless you’re a one-trick. Shop has it permanently so no rush, wait for Your Shop rotation if you want the discount. For everyone else who hooks people for fun around 1 AM on a Tuesday night – this skin just hits right. Top pick for Thresh mains, easy recommend at standard Epic pricing.
