First time I saw Firecracker Jinx load into my game I think it was around season 5, maybe late February 2015. The red and gold color palette just pops against Summoner’s Rift in a way most Jinx skins dont manage. Locked it in immediately. Something about the Lunar Revel theme on a chaotic ADC like Jinx just works, and five seasons later I still keep coming back to this one when I want something festive without going full meme.
What Firecracker Jinx actually brings to the table
The VFX overhaul is the main selling point here. Pow-Pow and Fishbones both get the firework treatment. Her Q swap between minigun and rocket launcher feels snappier visually with the red particle trails. Zap (W) shoots out what looks like a roman candle blast, bright gold streak across the lane. Honestly not gonna lie, it reads cleaner than base Jinx W in teamfights where theres a million things happening on screen.
Flame Chompers (E) drop as little firecracker bundles. Subtle change but it adds flavor. The real star is Super Mega Death Rocket. Her R launches this massive firework that explodes on impact with red and gold sparks everywhere. Landed a cross-map ult last Tuesday around 1 AM on their retreating Kayn and the explosion looked genuinely celebratory. Perfect timing.
The recall animation is where Riot put in extra effort. Jinx lights a massive firework, rides it upward, classic Jinx chaos energy. No new voice lines though, kept the base VO. For an Epic tier skin at 1350 RP that’s expected. The base Jinx voice is iconic enough that I dont mind.
(Random aside: the Fishbones rocket launcher redesign on this skin might be my favorite weapon model across all Jinx skins, it looks like a dragon festival prop and I love it.)
The Lunar Revel Firecracker line and where Jinx fits
Released February 10, 2015. Right in the middle of Lunar Revel season. Jason Chan nailed the splash, the composition with Jinx mid-celebration surrounded by fireworks captures her personality better than half her legendary-tier splashes on other champions. The Lunar Revel: Firecracker skinline has grown a lot since then. Vayne, Diana, Sett all got Firecracker versions later, but Jinx was one of the early ones and I think she still fits the theme the hardest.
8 chromas total if you want variety. Obsidian goes dark with that sleek black and red combo, feels more serious than the base skin which is kinda funny for a Lunar Revel theme. Amethyst swaps to purple tones and honestly reads like a completely different skin in lane. Golden Tiger dropped later as a special variant and leans heavy into the festival gold. Not every chroma hits but those three carry.
Could be wrong here but I think Firecracker Jinx was one of the skins that really proved Riot could do seasonal event skins well at the Epic price point. Before this a lot of the holiday skins felt budget. This one set a standard.
Should you pick up Firecracker Jinx for 1350 RP?
Real verdict: if you main Jinx and play enough games, this is a must-own. 1350 RP feels fair for what you get. New particles on every ability, clean recall, solid model update. Still in the shop too, no vault nonsense. Been running this in Diamond ranked for multiple seasons now and the VFX never get old. The rocket trails specifically give good visual feedback for cs-ing in lane, which sounds small but matters when you’re spamming 30 games a week.
Where it falls short compared to something like Star Guardian Jinx is the lack of new voice lines. Star Guardian has that whole alternate persona thing going. Firecracker Jinx is pure visual upgrade, no personality shift. Depending on what you value thats either a positive or negative. I personally prefer skins that keep the original champion feel, so Firecracker wins for me.
Skip it if you already own Project Jinx and only budget for one Epic skin per champion. But if you’re building out the Jinx collection or you want something that reads well in teamfights without being visually noisy, this is the pick. Been maining Jinx with this since season 9 I think or 10 dont remember, and it holds up. Banger skin from a simpler era of League cosmetics.
