DRX Kindred

First time I saw DRX Kindred load into my game I had to double-take the splash. Horace ‘Hozure’ Hsu went hard on the splash, and it shows. The whole thing radiates that Worlds energy, the blue and gold palette hitting way harder than I expected from an esports skin. Been running this in Diamond since around mid-2023 and honestly the skin just clicks with how Kindred plays. Clean. Sharp. No visual noise getting in the way of your jungle clear.

What actually changes on DRX Kindred

So the VFX got a full rework for this one. Wolf’s attacks carry this deep blue particle trail that reads really well in teamfights, especially when you’re diving into the backline to mark someone. The Q dash leaves behind these blue-gold streaks on the ground. Subtle but noticeable. Not sure if it’s just me but the dance of arrows feels smoother with this skin on, like the animation just flows better even though I know thats probably placebo.

W is where it gets interesting. Wolf’s territory circle has this championship emblem effect woven into the edges. During a ranked game last Thursday I actually caught my support commenting on it in chat, which never happens with Kindred skins. The E particles pop with a satisfying blue burst on the third hit. Feels rewarding.

The recall animation is the real showpiece though. DRX branding, trophy references, the whole celebration vibe. Riot nailed the Worlds winner fantasy here. Voice lines stay base, which is expected at this price point. Marcella Lentz-Pope and Matthew Mercer’s original VO still carries weight anyway so no complaints there.

The DRX Worlds 2022 line and release context

DRX Kindred dropped June 1, 2023 as part of the World Champions: 2022 skinline. Late season 13 release. For context, DRX’s Worlds run was genuinely one of the most insane lower bracket stories in competitive League history, so the skin carries actual weight beyond just looking good.

The World Champions line has always been hit or miss. Some years the skins feel phoned in and some years they cook. DRX’s batch landed on the better side. Kindred specifically works because the champion’s silhouette pairs naturally with the blue-gold color scheme. Lamb’s mask gets this royal treatment that fits the World Champions 2022 aesthetic without looking forced.

One Elite chroma available. The Elite variant swaps into a yellow-gold with blue accents, kinda like a more saturated version of the base. Its cool if you want to flex the upgraded version but honestly the base DRX colors already look premium enough. 1350 RP for this Epic tier skin, sits in the Legacy vault so you cant just grab it whenever you want. Vault rotation skin, gotta wait for Riot to bring it back or get lucky with Hextech crafting.

Should you pick up DRX Kindred?

Real verdict: this is a strong Kindred skin that punches above its weight class. Played maybe 200 games with it across two seasons and the VFX never got old. The blue particles read cleanly against the Rift, which matters more than people think when you’re tracking marks and ganking bot lane pre-6. (Random aside: my duo partner who’s a Kindred one-trick actually switched from Spirit Blossom to this, which says something.)

The World Champions 2022 skinline delivered here. Could be wrong here but I think DRX Kindred sits comfortably in the top three Kindred skins overall. 1350 RP feels fair for what you get, especially with the VFX quality and that recall. The only downside is Legacy availability. If it rotates back into the shop or you roll it from a chest, lock it in. Worth 1350 RP if you main Kindred. Skip it if you already have Spirit Blossom and dont play enough Kindred to justify two skins in rotation, but for jungle mains who spam Kindred in ranked this is S-tier.
