Choo-Choo Ornn

First time I saw Choo-Choo Ornn load into my game I genuinely thought someone was trolling. A full train engine running down top lane with smoke puffing out the stack. Took me a second to process that this was an actual Riot skin and not some custom mod. Been maining Ornn with this since it dropped and honestly the novelty hasnt worn off. Not even close.

What the Toy Box treatment does to Ornn

So the whole concept here is Ornn as a toy locomotive. Wooden textures, bright primary colors, little wheels on his legs. His horns are a smokestack and a train whistle. Ridiculous in the best way.

The VFX carry this skin hard. His Q sends out what looks like toy building blocks erupting from the ground. Colorful, chunky, reads cleanly in lane. W breath attack gets this warm orange glow with little star particles mixed in, kinda feels like a cartoon steam blast. Not sure if it’s just me but the W felt more satisfying to land with this skin on. Placebo for sure, but still.

E charge is where it gets good. Ornn barrels forward and you hear this train horn sound effect. Slamming into a pillar with the E has that toy crash energy, blocks scattering everywhere. In teamfights it reads well too, which matters when you’re trying to peel for your backline and everything is chaos. R is the crown jewel though. The ram becomes a massive toy train running across the Rift. First cast sends it out, second cast brings it back with that satisfying knockup. The colors pop against every map skin I’ve tested it on.

Recall animation is pure charm. Ornn sits down and builds a little toy train track, places a miniature train on it, watches it go around. Very on-brand for the forge god building things. Voice lines stay base, no new VO, but the sound effects do enough heavy lifting that you dont notice.

Toy Box line and the details

Toy Box released April 3, 2024. Mid season 14. Pandart Studio nailed the splash, they captured this workshop vibe with Ornn surrounded by toy parts and wooden planks. The lighting in that piece is genuinely warm.

The Toy Box skinline is one of Riot’s more playful themes. Think less edgy cosmic dragon, more Saturday morning cartoon. Ornn fits it naturally because his whole identity is crafting and building. (Random aside: my buddy who never plays tanks bought Ornn specifically because of this skin. Said it reminded him of Thomas the Tank Engine. Fair enough.)

8 chromas total. Amethyst is my go-to, the purple wood grain looks surprisingly clean against the Rift. Emerald hits this forest toy aesthetic that works well too. Pearl goes full white and pastel, almost like an unpainted wooden toy straight off the workbench. The rest are fine but those three stand out. Ruby does the standard red recolor. Catseye, Rose Quartz, Citrine, and Aquamarine fill out the collection but nothing about them made me switch off Amethyst after testing them all one weekend.

Is Choo-Choo Ornn worth 1350 RP?

Real verdict: this is the Ornn skin if you can only own one. Bold claim when Elderwood exists, I know. But Elderwood plays it safe. Choo-Choo commits fully to the bit and executes it perfectly.

Could be wrong here but I think this Epic hits above its price class. New VFX on every ability, new recall, clean sound design. 1350 RP feels fair for what you get. Ornn mains have been starved for skins for years. Dude had like three options before season 13. Now with Toy Box and Space Groove and Aegis Frame there’s actual variety.

Spammed this in Diamond for maybe 30 games in a row last spring. The Q pillar placement felt crisp, the R train visual made engages feel more impactful even if thats obviously just cosmetic. Seen maybe 5 other people running it in my games all season, which is a shame because it deserves more play. Shop has it, permanent availability, no vault nonsense. If you play Ornn even occasionally in ranked or ARAM, lock this in. The train horn on E alone is worth the purchase. Been daily driving it since April 2024 and I keep coming back even after trying the newer Ornn options. Real talk though, if Riot ever does a Legendary Ornn skin with new voice lines on top of this level of VFX work, I might actually cry. Until then, Choo-Choo is the one.
