Admiral Glasc

First time I saw Admiral Glasc load into a game I thought Riot dropped a whole new champion. Not even joking. The Steel Valkyries aesthetic transforms Renata Glasc from corporate chembaroness into this sci-fi fleet commander and the silhouette reads completely different. Been running this as my default Renata Glasc skin since maybe season 13 and I keep coming back to it over her other options.

What actually changes on Admiral Glasc

New VFX across the board. Her Q fires out this teal energy tether that looks cleaner than base, easier to track in teamfights when theres a lot going on. The W buff has a distinct metallic shimmer to it now. Honestly not gonna lie, the W visual clarity is better here than default Renata Glasc which can get lost against certain map skins.

E is where it gets interesting. The wave of projectiles comes out with this techy pulse effect, almost like sonar. Reads well in lane and during disengage situations. Her R, the big one, Hostile Takeover gets a full sci-fi rework visually. The berserk wave has this dark energy ripple that just looks menacing rolling through the enemy backline. Dropped it on a five man in dragon pit last week around midnight and my duo literally screamed.

New recall animation too. She does this commanding officer pose, very in character for the Admiral fantasy. Voice lines stay base, no new VO, which is standard for a 1350 RP Epic tier skin. The base Renata Glasc voice is strong enough that it doesnt feel like a miss though. Debra Wilson’s performance carries across skins fine.

(Random aside: the splash art for this skin is genuinely one of the best in the Steel Valkyries set and I’ve had it as my desktop background for months.)

Steel Valkyries and the release window

Admiral Glasc released February 17, 2022. That’s literally launch day for Renata Glasc as a champion. Riot shipped her with this skin ready to go, which tells you they had confidence in the Steel Valkyries line fitting her kit fantasy. Forrest Imel and West Studio handled the artwork, they nailed the splash. The composition puts her in this command bridge setting that sells the Admiral title immediately.

Steel Valkyries as a skinline leans hard into the mecha-military vibe. Think Battlestar meets League. Renata Glasc fits naturally here because her whole identity is about control and power, just swap the chemical empire for a space fleet. Could be wrong here but I think Admiral Glasc is one of the stronger entries in Steel Valkyries overall. The theme and champion just click.

9 chromas total if you want variety. Obsidian is my pick, goes full dark commander aesthetic and the teal VFX pop harder against the darker model. Amethyst hits a nice purple mage look that I think reads better than base in certain comps. The Ace chroma has this pink and grey combo thats unique but might be too flashy for ranked if you’re trying to focus. Pearl exists for the clean minimalist crowd.

Is Admiral Glasc worth 1350 RP?

Real verdict: if you play Renata Glasc with any regularity this is probably your best option. 1350 RP feels fair for what you get. New VFX on every ability, solid recall, strong splash, and the Steel Valkyries theme gives her a completely different identity from base.

Spammed this in Diamond for two splits and the skin just performs well visually. Ability readability is clean, the color palette doesn’t blend into Summoner’s Rift terrain, and the model stands out in lane without being distracting. For support mains who want their peel and engage tools to look distinct, this delivers.

Kinda feels like Riot knew Renata Glasc needed a banger day-one skin to sell the champion launch. They delivered. Shop has it, permanent availability, 1350 RP standard pricing. Not sure if her newer skins like Fright Night or La Ilusion compete honestly. Been playing maybe 150 games on Admiral Glasc across season 12 through now and I still haven’t swapped off for more than a week. Top pick for Renata Glasc mains, easy.
