Sion Skins
10 skins availableSion is one of those champions where the skin catalog tells the whole story of how Riot's design philosophy changed over fifteen years. Been maining him on and off since season 4, mostly as a top lane bully but sometimes in jungle when the comp needs a tank with engage. His 10 skins range from the absolute earliest days of League to 2025, and the quality gap between the old Standard tier stuff and the newer Epics is massive. Not gonna lie, half the reason I keep coming back to Sion is because Mecha Zero exists and nothing else in the game feels like piloting a giant robot into the enemy backline at Mach speed.

How Sion's Skin Collection Grew Over the Years
Ten skins. For a champion thats been around since literally the beginning of League, ten feels low. Compare that to someone like Lux or Ezreal with 20+ and you start to see where Riot's priorities land. Sion went through long droughts between releases, especially that gap from his rework in 2014 until Mecha Zero dropped.
The breakdown looks like this: five Standard tier skins, four Epics, and one Legendary. Only one Legendary across 15 years of existence. Kinda feels like Riot forgot about him for stretches. The Standards are all pre-rework relics from 2010-2012 era, back when "skin" meant "we changed his shirt color." Barbarian Sion is literally from 2010. The Epics started rolling in around 2017 with Mecha Zero actually being Legendary, then Worldbreaker, Blackfrost, High Noon, and Cosmic Paladin filled out the modern catalog.
Grand Reckoning Sion landed in 2025 as the newest addition. Took him from 2010 all the way to present day. The collection honestly reads like two different champions if you compare the early stuff to anything released after 2017. Old Sion skins were designed for a completely different kit, different model, different everything. Post-rework Sion is a different beast and the skins reflect that.
(Random aside: I sometimes forget pre-rework Sion had an AP build that one-shot people with his shield. Different era entirely.)
Could be wrong here but I think Sion is due for another Legendary. One in 10 skins being above Epic tier feels criminal for a champion with this much personality in his voice lines and animations. The ult alone deserves more Legendary treatment.
Best Skins for Sion
Mecha Zero Sion. Full stop. This is the Legendary and it earns every bit of that 1820 RP. Released back in 2017 I think, and it turned Sion into a literal transformer. His ult makes him become a train. A train. Been spamming this in Diamond since season 8 and the novelty hasnt worn off. The Q channel turns his arm into this massive piston, W shield has mech plating visuals, E fires a projectile that looks like actual ordnance. New voice lines too, the robotic filter on his VO sells the fantasy hard. Every ability got the full treatment.
Real talk though. The recall animation where he transforms into vehicle mode? Still one of the best recalls in the entire game. Played maybe 300 games with this skin across multiple seasons and I still watch the full recall sometimes instead of clicking to skip.
Worldbreaker Sion sits at 1350 RP and punches way above that price point. The Aztec/Mayan aesthetic works perfectly on a giant undead warrior. His Q slam feels heavier with the stone effects, and the green-gold color scheme reads clean on the Rift. Not sure if it's just me but the Q indicator feels slightly more visible on Worldbreaker than base, which actually matters in teamfights when your team needs to see where the knockup is landing.
Blackfrost Sion is solid. Ice theme, dark blue palette, the W shield gets this frozen crystal look that pops against most map skins. 1350 RP, standard Epic treatment. Good VFX on the Q and ult. The Blackfrost skinline generally delivers for tanky champions and Sion fits the frozen undead vibe naturally.
High Noon Sion surprised me honestly. Didnt expect the western theme to work on a giant undead juggernaut but they made him into this demonic locomotive thing. His ult channel literally has train whistle sounds. 1350 RP well spent if you're into the High Noon universe. The R especially, charging down a lane with that infernal cowboy energy, feels different from Mecha Zero's train in a good way.
Cosmic Paladin Sion rounds out the Epics. Space knight aesthetic, purple and gold VFX, clean particles on every ability. Maybe just my experience but this one gets the least play in my ranked games compared to Mecha Zero and High Noon. Still a quality skin at 1350 though.
Skinlines and Where Sion Fits
Sion shows up across a pretty diverse set of skinlines. Mecha is the obvious standout, that whole universe of giant robots and kaiju fits a champion whose entire kit is about being the biggest thing on the Rift. Worldbreaker pulls from that ancient civilization destroyer theme and it works because Sion is literally an undead war machine in his base lore.
Blackfrost is one of those skinlines that just clicks for tanks and juggernauts. Frozen death knight energy. High Noon took a risk putting Sion into the western supernatural universe but the train connection with his ult made it feel intentional rather than forced. Could be coping but I think High Noon Sion is one of the more creative skinline placements Riot has done recently.
The older skinlines are harder to evaluate. Hextech Sion is from the original Hextech batch, not the crafting exclusive line. Barbarian and Lumberjack fall into that "Day Job" category where early League skins were just "what if champion had a different outfit." Warmonger at least tried to give him a darker armor set but without new particles it barely registers in 2026.
Been hoping for a Dark Star or Elderwood Sion for years. Something that leans into his size and the cosmic horror of an unstoppable undead colossus charging at you. The skinline potential is there, Riot just needs to tap it. (Sidebar for Sion mains specifically: you know an Arcana Sion with tarot card VFX on the Q would go insane.)
Honestly the skinline variety is decent for 10 skins. No repeated themes, each one carves its own space. Just wish there were more of them.
Budget Picks vs Going Premium on Sion
The price spread on Sion runs from 520 RP on the cheap end to 1820 for Mecha Zero. Five Standards sit at that 520-975 range and four Epics at 1350. Simple math.
If you're climbing ranked and want a skin that actually changes the feel of playing Sion, Mecha Zero is the answer every time. 1820 RP is steep but no other Sion skin transforms the champion experience like that one does. New VO, new animations, the train ult. Worth it if you main him.
Budget pick? Worldbreaker at 1350. Not the cheapest option but the cheapest skin that actually delivers quality VFX changes. The Standard tier skins are basically chromas with extra steps at this point. Lumberjack Sion is a meme and costs almost nothing, so if you want a laugh in normals go for it. But for ranked? The particle changes on Epics matter for visual clarity.
Fair warning, the old Standards look rough on the updated model. Barbarian and Warmonger were designed for pre-rework Sion and it shows. They technically work but walking into lane with Barbarian Sion in season 14 or beyond is a statement and not necessarily the one you want to make. Not gonna lie I've seen maybe two Warmonger Sions in my last 500 games. There's a reason for that.
Best value play: wait for Your Shop or a sale on Worldbreaker or High Noon. At 675 RP on sale, either of those is a steal for the quality you get. Mecha Zero at half price during Legendary sales is the dream scenario if you can be patient.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many skins does Sion have?
Sion has 10 skins total as of 2025. Five Standard tier, four Epic, one Legendary. Not the biggest collection for a champion thats been around since 2009 but the quality on the newer ones makes up for the smaller count. Grand Reckoning Sion was the most recent addition.
What is the best Sion skin?
Mecha Zero Sion. Not close. The Legendary treatment turns him into a transformer with a train ult, new VO, completely reworked animations. Been my go-to Sion skin since it dropped and nothing else in his catalog competes at that level. 1820 RP well spent for mains.
What is the cheapest Sion skin?
Hextech Sion and Barbarian Sion sit at the 520 RP range, cheapest in his catalog. Lumberjack is also down there. They're old Standard skins with no new particles or effects though. Texture swaps basically. Fine for the meme factor, not great if you want actual visual changes on abilities.
Does Sion have a Legendary skin?
Yeah, one. Mecha Zero Sion at 1820 RP. It's from 2017 and still holds up incredibly well. New model, new VO with robotic filter, completely new animations and VFX. The ult turns him into a train. Honestly one of the best Legendaries Riot has made for a tank champion. Period.
What skinlines is Sion in?
Sion appears in Mecha, Worldbreaker, Blackfrost, High Noon, and Cosmic among others. The older skins fall into Hextech and legacy categories. Pretty diverse spread for 10 skins. High Noon and Mecha fit him best in my opinion, both lean into that unstoppable force fantasy his kit delivers.
Does Sion have chromas?
Several of his Epic skins come with chroma sets. Worldbreaker, Blackfrost, and the newer releases have chromas available. The Standard tier skins from 2010-2012 dont have any though. If you want color variety, stick to the Epics. Some of the chroma colors honestly look better than the base versions.
When was Sion's last skin released?
Grand Reckoning Sion dropped in 2025. Before that there was a decent gap. Sion isn't on Riot's "release a skin every six months" list like some champions. Feels like he gets one every couple years at best. Mains know the drought struggle.
Is Sion worth buying skins for?
If you play him regularly, absolutely. Mecha Zero alone justifies investing in Sion cosmetics. His kit is so visually distinct that good skins make a real difference in how the champion feels. The Q charge, the ult channel, the passive. All of it benefits from quality VFX work. Skip the Standards, grab an Epic or the Legendary.
