Master Yi Skins

18 skins available

Master Yi has one of those skin catalogs that tells the whole story of League's cosmetic evolution. Been playing Yi on and off since season 3, and watching his skins go from recolored textures to full Legendary overhauls is something else. 18 skins deep now. Some are relics from 2009 that barely hold up, others are genuinely impressive pieces of work that make you forget you're playing the same right-click champion. Not gonna lie, Yi mains eat well these days compared to what we had back in the early seasons.

Master Yi's Skin Collection: 18 and Counting

The collection spans from 2009 all the way to 2025. Sixteen years of skins for one champion. That's wild when you think about it. Yi launched with Assassin Master Yi and Chosen Master Yi, both of which were basically just palette swaps with maybe a different weapon model. Standard fare for that era.

Tier breakdown looks solid for a champion this old. Six Standards, eight Epics, two Legendaries, and two Mythics. Could be wrong here but I think that puts Yi in the upper half of champions for skin diversity. The two Legendaries alone set him apart from a lot of the roster.

Real evolution started around 2015 with PROJECT: Yi. That was the first skin where Riot clearly invested serious resources into Yi specifically. Before that you had Headhunter which was decent for its time, Ionia which had a cool thematic but basic execution, and Samurai Yi which is literally just Yi in different armor. (Random aside: Chosen Master Yi with the lightsaber was peak comedy back in the day and I still respect it.)

The 2020-2025 stretch is where the catalog gets interesting. Blood Moon, PsyOps, Spirit Blossom, Inkshadow, Heavenscale, Victorious. Six skins in five years. Riot clearly figured out that Yi sells because he's one of the most played champions in lower elo and his playerbase is massive. Smart business. Good for us.

Most of the Standards sit in that 390-520 RP range from the early days. The Epics cluster at 1350 RP which is standard. Two Legendaries at 1820 each. Then the Mythics which you cant just buy outright. Pretty wide spread overall.

Best Skins for Master Yi

PROJECT: Yi is the one. Full stop. Been my go-to Yi skin since it dropped and I keep coming back to it even after testing everything else. The Legendary treatment gave Yi a complete overhaul: new model, new animations, new VFX on every ability, new voice lines. His Q Alpha Strike gets this clean holographic trail effect. W Meditate has the shield visuals that actually read well in teamfights. E Wuju Style procs with that digital blade effect. And the R Highlander transformation with the visor coming down? Chef's kiss.

Inkshadow Master Yi is the other Legendary and its a completely different vibe. Ink-wash aesthetic, brush stroke VFX, the whole traditional East Asian art direction. Played maybe 40 games with it last season. The Q animation specifically looks incredible, these ink splashes following your character through the dashes. W has calligraphy effects. Feels like playing inside a painting. Voice lines are solid too, more contemplative than PROJECT's cyber-warrior angle.

Prestige Spirit Blossom Master Yi is gorgeous but locked behind the Mythic grind. White and gold colorway on the Spirit Blossom theme. If you managed to grab it, congrats. The regular Spirit Blossom version is also good, sits at Epic tier, and honestly the base version might look cleaner than the Prestige in certain lighting. Might be overthinking it but the gold accents on Prestige sometimes blend into Summoner's Rift terrain.

Cosmic Blade Master Yi at 1350 RP punches hard. The space-themed VFX on his kit read beautifully. Q sends you through these constellation trails. Ult gives you that cosmic streak effect. For an Epic skin it delivers close to Legendary quality on the visual side, just without new voice lines or recall animation depth. Spammed this in Diamond for two months straight before switching to PROJECT.

Eternal Sword Yi deserves a mention too. Immortal Journey skinline, very clean fantasy-wuxia aesthetic. The sword design alone carries it. Not the flashiest but theres an elegance to it that fits Yi's lore better than most skins in his catalog. Seen it a lot in my ranked games this split.

Skinlines and Thematic Fit

Yi appears across a bunch of skinlines: PROJECT, Cosmic, Immortal Journey, Spirit Blossom, Blood Moon, PsyOps, Headhunter, Inkshadow, Heavenscale, Winter Wonder. Broad spread.

The ones that fit his fantasy best? Immortal Journey and Spirit Blossom. No contest. Yi is literally a Wuju swordsman. Anything that leans into the disciplined warrior monk aesthetic just works naturally. Eternal Sword Yi and Spirit Blossom Yi both nail this. They feel like canonical extensions of his base design rather than alternate universe stuff.

PROJECT works despite being a completely different direction. Cyber-enhanced swordsman translates well because Yi's kit is all about speed and precision, and the tech overlay gives Riot room to make his abilities look insane. The skinline basically exists for characters like Yi, Yasuo, and Fiora. Clean fit.

Blood Moon Yi is where it gets weird for me. Kinda feels like Yi was thrown into that skinline because Riot needed another champion for the batch. The demon mask aesthetic doesn't mesh with Yi's disciplined personality. PsyOps is similar, it looks fine in isolation but thematically it's a stretch. (Sidebar for Yi mains specifically: if you're picking a skin for ranked intimidation factor, Blood Moon actually reads more threatening than most of his catalog. Take that for what its worth.)

Inkshadow is a newer skinline and Yi was one of the launch champions for it. Good call by Riot. The brush-painting aesthetic complements a martial arts champion perfectly. Heavenscale leans into the dragon-themed Chinese mythology angle which also works for a Wuju master. Both feel intentional rather than forced.

Budget vs Premium: What to Buy

If you're climbing ranked and want a clean Yi skin without dropping 1820 RP, Cosmic Blade at 1350 is the play. Best value in his catalog. The VFX are distinctive enough that you feel like you spent money, and the ability readability is actually better than some of his other options. Locked this one in for an entire season before going Legendary.

The Standards are rough. Honest take. Assassin, Chosen, Ionia, Samurai, these are all pre-2013 skins that show their age. Chosen has the meme value with the lightsaber but in actual gameplay its basically a chroma. Debonair is the newest Standard-tier option and it's fine for 520 RP. Nothing special but at least the model is clean by modern standards.

Premium side, PROJECT: Yi at 1820 is the definitive Yi experience. If you only buy one skin for this champion, that's the one. Inkshadow is the alternative if you want something more artistic and less sci-fi. Both earn their Legendary price tag. The Mythics are great but you cant just throw money at them, so don't plan around those unless you're already deep into the Mythic Essence grind.

Snow Man Yi exists. Winter Wonder skinline. Its cute I guess. Not gonna lie I forgot this skin existed until I looked at the full list. Seasonal novelty at best.

Real talk though, Yi is one of those champions where the skin quality gap between tiers is massive. The jump from a 520 RP Standard to a 1350 Epic is night and day. And the jump from Epic to Legendary is another level entirely. Budget here means 1350 minimum if you want something that feels modern. Anything below that and you're playing with 2010-era cosmetics on a champion that moves too fast for anyone to appreciate the splash art anyway.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many skins does Master Yi have?

18 skins total as of 2025. That includes everything from the original 2009 Standards like Assassin and Chosen all the way to Victorious Master Yi. Two Legendaries, two Mythics, eight Epics, six Standards. Pretty stacked catalog for any champion honestly. Yi mains dont go hungry.

What is the best Master Yi skin?

PROJECT: Yi. Been my pick for years and I think most Yi mains would agree. Full Legendary treatment with new VFX, animations, voice lines, the works. Inkshadow is a close second if you prefer the ink-painting aesthetic. Both at 1820 RP. Can't go wrong with either.

What is the cheapest Master Yi skin?

Assassin Master Yi at 390 RP. It's from 2009 though so temper your expectations. Basically a recolor with a slightly different weapon. Chosen Master Yi at 520 RP is the next cheapest and at least has the lightsaber meme going for it. Budget options exist but they show their age hard.

Does Master Yi have a Legendary skin?

Two Legendaries actually. PROJECT: Yi and Inkshadow Master Yi, both 1820 RP. PROJECT is the sci-fi route with full cyber warrior vibes. Inkshadow goes traditional ink-wash painting direction. Completely different aesthetics. Both have new VO, animations, VFX. Solid pair of Legendaries.

What skinlines is Master Yi in?

A bunch. PROJECT, Cosmic, Immortal Journey, Spirit Blossom, Blood Moon, PsyOps, Headhunter, Inkshadow, Heavenscale, Winter Wonder. I think Immortal Journey and Spirit Blossom fit him best thematically since he's a swordsman at his core. PROJECT works too despite being totally different.

Does Master Yi have chromas?

Several of his newer skins have chromas. Cosmic Blade, Spirit Blossom, PsyOps, Blood Moon, they all got chroma sets. The older Standards don't have any. If chromas matter to you, stick to the 1350 RP Epics from 2018 onward. Thats where the variety lives.

When was Master Yi's last skin released?

Victorious Master Yi dropped in 2025. It's the ranked reward skin so you needed Gold or higher to grab it. Before that was Heavenscale Master Yi also relatively recent. Yi gets consistent skin releases these days, usually one every year or so. Riot knows the playerbase is there.

Is Master Yi worth buying skins for?

If you play him regularly, absolutely. His Legendary skins transform the experience completely. Even at Epic tier Cosmic Blade feels premium. The cheap skins are skippable but 1350+ is where Yi shines. He's a champion you see a lot of in your own games so the investment pays off visually. Worth it for mains.
