First time I saw Prestige Soul Fighter Pyke load in during a ranked game, I thought someone was running a custom skin. The white and gold color scheme on a champion who is supposed to be lurking in dark water felt wrong in the best way. Been running this as my main Pyke skin since it dropped in season 13 and honestly I keep coming back to it over everything else in his lineup.
What the Prestige version actually changes
So the base Soul Fighter Pyke already reworked the VFX pretty hard with that fighting game tournament aesthetic. The Prestige version takes all of that and dips it in white, gold, and pale blue. Clean.
Your Q charge-up gets this bright golden energy trail that reads way better against the Rift than the base Soul Fighter purple. Not gonna lie, the telegraph is slightly more visible to enemies because of the brightness, but the tradeoff is worth it for how satisfying the animation feels. The W stealth shimmer picks up the pale gold tint too. Kinda feels like you’re phasing through divine light instead of murky water.
E is where it gets interesting. The phantom that dashes through enemies has the full Prestige treatment with white cloth trailing behind it. In a teamfight with 3-4 enemies stacked, the stun VFX pop off in gold sparks. Played maybe 30 games last week where I was just fishing for multi-man E stuns in the bot lane specifically because the visual payoff is that good.
The R execute cross on the ground shifts to this bright white and gold X marker. Theres something about seeing that golden guillotine drop in a close fight that hits different from any other Pyke skin. The reset chain in a teamfight where you’re ulting through the backline looks incredible with all that gold flying around.
New recall animation carries over from the Soul Fighter line. Pyke does the fighting game victory pose thing. Voice lines stay base, no new VO on this one, which is standard for Mythic tier prestige skins. Darien Sills-Evans still does the voice work and it fits fine.
The Soul Fighter event and how to get this skin
Prestige Soul Fighter Pyke released July 20, 2023 during the Soul Fighter event. Mid-season 13. The whole Soul Fighter skinline was Riot’s take on an anime fighting tournament arc, and Pyke was one of the headliners alongside Jhin and Sett. Could be wrong here but I think this was one of the bigger summer events that year.
Yuyu Wong and Kudos Productions handled the splash art. They went hard on the splash, the composition with Pyke mid-strike against that golden arena backdrop captures the whole prestige vibe without feeling overdesigned. The gold accents on his blade and the white wrappings around his arms photograph well as a loading screen too (random aside: I screenshot loading screens way more than I should for a Diamond player).
This is a Mythic skin with special pricing, meaning you couldnt just buy it with RP. During the event it required Soul Fighter tokens from the event pass. Available now through the Mythic shop rotation. Zero chromas on this one, which makes sense since the whole point of Prestige is the specific white-gold colorway.
Where it sits in Pyke’s skin collection
Pyke has a solid skin roster at this point. Ashen Knight Pyke exists for the dark prestige fantasy, Project for the tech angle, Blood Moon for the classic. Prestige Soul Fighter occupies this weird space where it’s the flashiest skin on a champion designed to be sneaky. That contrast is what makes it work for me.
Real talk though, if you’re a Pyke one-trick climbing through ranked, the brighter VFX on Q and E can give away your positioning slightly more than something like Sand Wraith or base Soul Fighter. In my Diamond games I’ve had maybe two or three situations all season where I think the gold Q glow tipped someone off. Minor thing. The engage and peel patterns dont change, your hook is still your hook.
Not sure if it’s just me but the auto attack animations feel slightly smoother on this skin compared to base Pyke. Probably placebo. CS-ing in lane pre-6 when I’m running support Pyke in a poke comp feels clean either way.
Should you pick this up?
Verdict time. If you main Pyke and you missed the event, keep an eye on the Mythic shop rotation. S-tier Pyke cosmetic. The white and gold treatment elevates everything the base Soul Fighter skin does well. Special pricing means you cant just impulse buy it, which honestly makes it feel more exclusive when you lock in during champ select.
Skip it if you only play Pyke occasionally for the support autofill games. But if you’re someone who ganks from river eight times a game and lives for the R resets in late-game teamfights, this is the skin that makes those moments look best. Around 2 AM last Tuesday I hit a quadra kill ult chain in a Diamond lobby and the gold execution markers across the screen were genuinely beautiful. Worth the grind.
