Prestige K/DA Ahri (2022)

First time I saw Prestige K/DA Ahri (2022) pop up in someone’s loading screen I thought it was the original 2018 Prestige version. Took me a solid five seconds to realize the gold tones were different. Not gonna lie, the rework on this one hit way harder than I expected for a re-release.

How Prestige K/DA Ahri (2022) actually looks in game

So the original Prestige K/DA Ahri from 2018 had that washed-out gold vibe that looked like someone spilled champagne on the base K/DA skin. This 2022 version? Completely different energy. The gold is deeper, richer. More of a warm amber than the pale yellow of the original. Played maybe 40 games with this in Diamond last season and the VFX stood out every single time.

The new particle effects on Q are what carry this skin. Orb of Deception gets this clean golden trail that reads well against the Rift, especially in darker areas around dragon pit. Could be wrong here but I think the hitbox actually feels more readable with these particles compared to base Ahri. W foxfires have a satisfying warm glow. Nothing crazy, but noticeable.

E is where it gets interesting. Charm comes out with this sparkle effect thats honestly one of the cleaner charm visuals across all Ahri skins. Caught their Katarina with it last week near mid tower and my duo commented on how clean the projectile looked. R dashes leave golden afterimages. Short but sweet.

The recall animation is new and leans into the K/DA performance theme. Ahri does her idol pose with updated golden effects swirling around. Voice lines stay base, no new VO on this one. Standard for a Mythic tier skin, nothing unexpected there.

The K/DA Prestige rework and what changed

Released April 1, 2022. Season 12. This was part of Riot’s big Prestige skin rework wave where they updated a bunch of the older Prestige editions. Pan Chengwei on the splash, they cooked. The artwork captures Ahri in a more dynamic pose than the 2018 version, with better lighting and composition overall.

K/DA as a skinline needs no introduction at this point. It’s been one of Riot’s biggest commercial hits since 2018. Ahri, Kai’Sa, Akali, Evelynn – the original lineup. The line keeps expanding but Ahri remains the face of it. (Random aside: my Ahri one-trick friend has every single K/DA variant and ranks this 2022 Prestige second behind Spirit Blossom, which feels like a crime.)

This Mythic skin sits in the vault now. Hextech only these days. You cant just walk into the shop and grab it. That exclusivity factor does bump up the perceived value, real talk though. No chromas available, which makes sense for a Prestige skin. The gold IS the chroma essentially.

Special pricing means you either got it through the Mythic Essence shop during its rotation or you’re hoping for a lucky reroll. Back around October 2022 I think it showed up in the ME shop for 150 Mythic Essence. Might show up again but Riot’s been inconsistent with vault rotations.

Where it sits in the Ahri skin lineup

Ahri has probably the deepest skin catalog of any champion. Spirit Blossom, Coven, Arcana, the whole K/DA line. Competition is fierce. Been maining Ahri on and off since season 9 or 10 dont remember exactly, and I keep cycling through her skins depending on mood.

Prestige K/DA Ahri (2022) lands in a weird spot. It’s better than the 2018 Prestige version by a significant margin. The updated VFX, the improved splash, the richer color palette. All improvements. But it’s competing against Spirit Blossom Ahri and Coven Ahri which both bring more dramatic visual changes to the table.

For Ahri mains specifically, this is a collection piece. Real talk. You want it because it’s vault-locked Mythic exclusivity and the K/DA brand carries weight. In my Diamond games I see maybe one of these every two weeks. Rare enough to turn heads in the loading screen.

Kinda feels like this skin exists for two groups: K/DA completionists and Ahri one-tricks who want something not everyone else is running. If you’re picking one Ahri skin and you’re not a collector, Spirit Blossom or Coven will give you more bang for the investment. But if you already have those and you’re deep in the Ahri main lifestyle, Prestige K/DA Ahri (2022) earns its Mythic tier spot. The gold VFX on charm alone. Clean. Not the flashiest Ahri skin but one of the more tasteful ones in her roster. Worth chasing through Hextech crafting if you’re patient enough to wait for it.
