Royal Guard Fiora

First Fiora skin I ever used back when she launched and honestly it holds a weird nostalgic spot for me. Royal Guard Fiora dropped February 29, 2012, which is a leap day release if you think about it. Kinda feels like Riot picked that date on purpose just to mess with collectors tracking anniversaries. This was early season 2 territory and Fiora was brand new to the Rift, so most people were running this or default.

What Royal Guard Fiora actually gives you

Real talk though. This is a 520 RP Standard tier skin and it shows. No new VFX on Q, W, E, or R. Voice lines stay base. No recall animation changes. What you get is a reskin, a red and gold military uniform that replaces Fiora’s default outfit. The rapier gets a slight color shift and the overall palette leans into that royal French officer vibe.

The outfit itself is clean for its price point. Red coat with gold trim, white pants tucked into boots. Looks like something out of a period drama. Been running this in Diamond games occasionally when I want that old school feel and it reads surprisingly well on the Rift. The red pops against most map backgrounds so your Lunge targets can see you coming, for better or worse.

No new particles on Bladework or Grand Challenge means your gameplay visual reads are identical to base Fiora. Some people actually prefer that for ranked because theres no visual noise confusing your enemy’s ability tracking. Played maybe 30 games with this last month specifically because a friend bet me I couldnt climb with only 520 RP skins. Won that bet in bot lane duos, by the way.

The Fables line and some history

Royal Guard Fiora sits in the Fables skinline. Not one of Riot’s bigger thematic pushes but it has its charm. Bo ‘chenbowow’ Chen handled the artwork and the splash captures the skin’s personality well. Fiora standing confident with the rapier, military posture, slight smirk. Classic composition for the era.

February 2012 was a different game. No elemental drakes, no Herald, jungle clear was a different beast entirely. Fiora’s kit was completely different too, pre-rework. (Random aside: I still miss old Fiora ult where she just bounced between targets like a pinball.) The skin survived the rework transition and honestly looks better on the updated model than it did on the original.

No chromas available for this one. At 520 RP that’s expected. Shop has it permanently so you can pick it up whenever. Not sure if it’s just me but I think the lower price skins sometimes get overlooked when Fiora has options like PROJECT and Pulsefire sitting right there in the store.

Should you buy Royal Guard Fiora?

Straight talk: 520 RP is pocket change in League terms. If you main Fiora and want variety in your skin rotation this is an easy pickup. It wont blow your mind with flashy effects or custom animations. That’s not what it’s for.

Where Royal Guard Fiora shines is simplicity. Clean model, good color contrast, no distracting VFX when you’re trying to proc vitals in a tight teamfight. Had a game last Thursday where I was splitpushing top against a Jax and the clean visuals actually helped me track my own Riposte timing better. Could be wrong here but I think there’s something to be said for skins that dont clutter your screen during engage and disengage sequences.

If you’re looking for the best Fiora skin, this isn’t it. But for the price? Solid. Worth 520 RP if you main Fiora and appreciate the classic military aesthetic. Skip it if you already own any of her Epic or Legendary options and never look back at budget skins. For one-tricks building a complete collection though, this belongs in the lineup. Standard pricing, clean execution for what it is.
