Immortal Journey Shyvana

First time I saw the Immortal Journey Shyvana splash I thought Riot finally figured out what to do with her. Been waiting seasons for a Shyvana skin that doesnt feel like an afterthought, and this one landed mid-season 13 with actual effort behind it. The celestial dragon aesthetic fits her kit so naturally it’s almost annoying they didn’t do it sooner. Locked this in immediately on release day.

What the skin actually brings to the table

So the VFX overhaul here is solid for an Epic tier skin. Her Q procs have this golden celestial energy that wraps around the twin bite, and honestly it reads cleaner in teamfights than most of her other skins. The W burnout trail shifts to these flowing jade and gold particles. Looks great in lane and during jungle clear phases where you’re constantly running through camps.

E is where I think the skin shines hardest. The fireball becomes this spiritual flame projectile with trailing wisps behind it. Hit a backline carry with it last week in a Diamond game and my support pinged it three times because they thought it was a different ability entirely. Clean impact VFX too.

Dragon form though. Real talk. The ult transformation gives Shyvana this immortal dragon aesthetic with flowing ribbons and celestial armor plating. Could be wrong here but I think the dragon form model here is one of the better ones across all her skins. The recall animation is new too – she channels this spiritual energy and ascends briefly. Standard voice lines, no new VO, which is expected at 1350 RP.

Not gonna lie, the base model in human form took me a few games to warm up to. The robes and ornamental armor feel a bit busy at first. But after maybe 15 games I stopped noticing and now the default Shyvana model looks plain by comparison.

The Immortal Journey line and release context

Released August 16, 2023. Su Fu and Kudos Productions handled the splash, and they captured the celestial warrior vibe perfectly. The Immortal Journey skinline is one of Riot’s more consistent thematic sets. Shyvana fits the mythology angle better than some of the other champions in the line, mostly because she’s already half dragon. The fantasy writes itself.

8 chromas total. Obsidian is my personal pick – the dark plating with subtle gold trim looks menacing in dragon form, especially during late-game teamfights around Baron pit. Tanzanite hits this deep purple that reads like a mystic elder dragon, which I appreciate. Rose Quartz exists for the pink crowd and honestly its fine for what it is. I won’t list every single one but Ruby and Sapphire follow the standard color swap formula without doing anything surprising.

(Random aside: the Tanzanite chroma in dragon form during an elder drake fight created the most confusing visual overlap I’ve seen in season 13. My jungler thought I was the actual drake for a split second.)

Is Immortal Journey Shyvana worth 1350 RP?

Straight talk: if you main Shyvana this is probably the skin you want. The competition is thin. Ice Drake is decent but dated. Super Galaxy is polarizing. Darkflame exists. Immortal Journey Shyvana sits at the top of a short list and 1350 RP feels fair for what you get.

Been running this as my go-to Shyvana skin since it dropped and I keep coming back even after trying the others in rotation. The VFX clarity in teamfights is a genuine gameplay advantage, not just cosmetic fluff. Had a ranked session last Thursday where I went 7-2 on Shyvana jungle and the skin just felt right every game. Might be overthinking it but I think the smoother particles on E actually help with tracking the mark in chaotic fights.

Shop has it. 1350 RP. If you play Shyvana at all, this is the one. If you’re not a Shyvana player, this skin alone probably wont convert you, but it’s a strong pickup if she’s anywhere in your champion pool. Top pick for Shyvana mains, and I dont say that about many Epic skins.
