DWG Twisted Fate

DWG Twisted Fate carries actual weight if you followed Worlds 2020. ShowMaker ran TF mid against multiple opponents in that bracket run and made it look like a lecture, not a game. DAMWON took the title, Riot commemorated it, and this skin dropped April 2021. Been daily driving this in Diamond since early season 11, and it holds up better than most esports skins I’ve cycled through.

What DWG changes on Twisted Fate

New VFX. That’s what separates DWG TF from a glorified chroma. The default card palette – all gold and arcane purple – gets replaced with cooler navy and dark blue tones matching DAMWON’s competitive color scheme. The Q wild cards flip with a more metallic sheen, and when you land that gold card stun in a teamfight, the proc effect reads distinctly different from base. Not flashy in a K/DA way. Just precise.

The recall animation is new and its honestly the best part of the skin. Riot built actual DWG branding into the sequence – logo work, competitive aesthetic – and it reads like a genuine commemorative piece rather than a recolor. Went into a custom game last Tuesday specifically to compare base recall versus DWG recall back to back. Not even close. The new recall earns its place on this skin.

No new VO. Owen Thomas keeps his voice pack here, which is standard for an Epic tier skin at 1350 RP. The VFX refresh and recall carry the ask without needing new lines. Voice stays default – and for TF the base lines are already solid, so it’s not a loss at this price point.

ShowMaker, DAMWON, and the World Champions: 2020 skinline

The World Champions: 2020 skinline covers five champion picks from DAMWON’s winning roster. TF made the cut because ShowMaker deployed him mid in clutch situations throughout the tournament run and made it work, season 10 going into 11. Jennifer Wuestling handled the splash art. Good splash. She went with a focused, competitive angle on Twisted Fate rather than a theatrical card-throwing pose, which is exactly the right call for an esports release. Released April 29, 2021, about six months after the Worlds trophy. Standard timeline for the champions skin series. The line also covers DWG Jhin, DWG Kennen, DWG Leona, and DWG Nidalee. Kinda feels like Kennen and Jhin got flashier treatments in this set, but DWG Twisted Fate is respectable for what it is. (random aside: DWG Kennen is genuinely one of my favorite esports skins across the entire history of that series and I don’t even play Kennen)

One Elite chroma available – dark navy base with a sharp blue accent that hits almost black at the primary. The Elite colorway makes TF’s cards read cleaner against the Rift than the standard DWG palette does. Might be overthinking it but that darker treatment fits the competitive aesthetic better than the base skin version. If you pull it from loot, run it over base DWG.

Is DWG Twisted Fate worth 1350 RP?

Real verdict: this is a Legacy vault skin now, not a permanent listing. Sits in the vault and cycles back during Worlds anniversary events or Legacy sales. Loot-eligible through Hextech crafting though, so you can roll it from chests rather than waiting for a sale window. Keep that in mind before hunting for it.

At 1350 RP this is standard Epic pricing and DWG Twisted Fate earns it. The VFX changes are real, the recall is the best TF recall in the game in my opinion, and there’s genuine historical context behind the skin if you watched ShowMaker lock in TF mid and dismantle opponents in that semifinal run – that whole Worlds 2020 performance was something else. Worth 1350 RP if you main TF and have any attachment to pro play. Casual one-tricks who skip the esports context might get more mileage from Pulsefire or Odyssey for the pure visual upgrade. Top pick for TF mains who remember that run.
