First game I played with Cafe Cuties Lulu was last October, maybe two weeks after it dropped. Locked it in for a Diamond ranked support game and my ADC immediately typed “cute skin” in chat before minions even spawned. Thats the vibe this skin gives off. Pure charm. Lulu already has one of the most stacked skin wardrobes in the game, and somehow Riot found another angle that works.

What Cafe Cuties Lulu actually brings to the table

So the whole concept is Lulu as a pastry chef or barista type character. Pix gets redesigned into this little dessert fairy thing, which honestly carries a lot of the skin’s personality. The Q fires out these pastel swirl projectiles that read cleanly in lane. Not gonna lie, the color palette on this one is softer than most Lulu skins, and in teamfights the abilities blend nicely without cluttering your screen.

W polymorph turns enemies into a little cupcake creature. Classic Riot move for themed skins but it works every time. Been running this in Diamond for a few months now and the polymorph animation still makes me smile when I catch a diving assassin. Trapped their Zed mid-dash last Tuesday around 1 AM and he turned into a pastry mid-air. Comedy gold.

E shield has this warm golden glow with little sparkle effects. Nothing groundbreaking but it fits the cafe aesthetic. The R knockup, Lulu’s ult, keeps that same warm color scheme with pastry-themed particles rising up. For an Epic tier skin at 1350 RP, the VFX package is solid across the board. Voice lines stay base, no new VO, but the recall animation is new. Lulu sets up a little tea service with Pix and it’s genuinely one of the better recall animations in the Cafe Cuties line.

Could be wrong here but I think the auto attack particles got a slight tweak too. They feel lighter, more whimsical. Might be placebo. Either way the skin reads well in lane and doesnt create visual noise during peel situations or when you’re shielding your backline in chaotic fights.

The Cafe Cuties line and where Lulu fits

Cafe Cuties dropped October 25, 2023. Fortune ‘Fortuneee’ K handled the artwork and they captured Lulu’s playful energy perfectly in the splash. The whole Cafe Cuties skinline is one of Riot’s cuter thematic sets. Lulu joins alongside other champions in the line, and honestly she might be the most natural fit. A whimsical yordle running a magical cafe? That writes itself.

8 chromas total for this skin. Obsidian is my personal pick, the dark color scheme against the pastel VFX creates this contrast that just pops on the Rift. Tanzanite hits hard too if you’re into that deep purple mage fantasy. Rose Quartz leans into the cutesy angle even more than the base, which is saying something.

(Random aside: I use the Obsidian chroma splash as my Discord profile pic and nobody has figured out it’s a League skin yet. People think it’s from some indie game.)

The Cafe Cuties set overall is well-executed. Kinda feels like Riot took the Star Guardian formula of “cute champions get cute skins” and stripped out the magical girl drama for a cozy slice-of-life vibe instead. Lulu fits that energy better than most. Season 13 release if I remember right, late into the year.

How it stacks against other Lulu skins

Lulu has what, twelve skins now? Maybe more. Space Groove was my go-to before this. Dragon Trainer is the Legendary everyone talks about. Star Guardian has the nostalgia factor. So where does Cafe Cuties land?

Mid to upper tier. Honestly. It doesnt have the new voice lines or the transformation gimmick that Dragon Trainer brings, but for 1350 RP the VFX are clean, the theme is cohesive, and the chromas give you options. Been maining Lulu with this skin since around patch 13.21 and I keep coming back to it over Space Groove, which surprised me.

Not sure if it’s just me but the auto-cancel feels smoother on this skin. Probably identical animation timing but the visual feedback on the autos just reads better when you’re poking in lane. Could be coping but my cs numbers on Lulu support (yes I take cs, fight me) feel better with this skin equipped.

Should you buy Cafe Cuties Lulu?

Real verdict: if you play Lulu even semi-regularly, this is worth the 1350 RP. Shop has it, permanent availability, no vault nonsense. The skin does everything an Epic should do. New particles, new recall, cohesive theme, good chroma selection. It doesnt reinvent Lulu the way Dragon Trainer does, but it doesn’t need to.

Skip this if you already own three or four Lulu skins and aren’t a one-trick. For Lulu mains though, this is an easy pickup. The Obsidian and Tanzanite chromas alone justify grabbing the bundle if its on sale. 1350 RP feels fair for what you get, and in a world where some Epic skins phone it in with lazy recolors and recycled particles, Cafe Cuties Lulu actually put in the work. Top three Lulu skin for me, might even be top two depending on the day. Spammed this in maybe 40 ranked games last season and zero regrets.
