Black Scourge Singed

First time I saw Black Scourge Singed loading in, I thought someone on the enemy team was running a custom skin. The whole vibe is so different from base Singed that it caught me off guard in champ select. Dark armor, corrupted flask, that eerie green poison trail. Played maybe 200 games with this one across season 6 and 7, and it still holds up way better than it should for a 750 RP skin.

What actually changes on Black Scourge Singed

So this is a Standard tier skin at 750 RP, which means you’re getting a model and texture swap. No new VFX, no new recall animation, base voice lines. Thats the deal. But honestly not gonna lie, the model work here punches above its weight class.

Singed goes from mad chemist to some kind of dark knight figure. Heavy black and dark green armor plates, a plague doctor-adjacent helmet, the whole corrupted medieval look. The poison flask on his back gets this ornate redesign that fits the Omen of the Dark fantasy perfectly. Running around top lane with this skin, the silhouette reads completely different from base.

The poison trail itself stays the same green particles as default. No changes there. Could be wrong here but I feel like the green actually works better against the dark armor than it does against the base model. Creates more contrast. Same deal with Fling and Mega Adhesive – all base VFX. Voice pack is base only.

In my Diamond games last season I was proxying waves between tier 1 and tier 2 towers around the 8 minute mark and the dark model blends into the river shadows slightly better than base. Probably doesnt actually matter for gameplay but it feels like it does. The auto attack animation with the shield bash looks clean too, makes csing in lane feel a bit more satisfying even though nothing mechanically changed.

The Omen of the Dark line and release context

Black Scourge Singed dropped May 4, 2016. Mid season 6. Pan Chengwei nailed the splash – Singed standing in this apocalyptic battlefield with dark energy swirling around him, the composition hits hard for a 750 RP splash.

The Omen of the Dark skinline is one of those smaller Riot thematic sets that didn’t get a huge marketing push. Kinda feels like it got overshadowed by bigger releases that patch cycle. The line leans into this corrupted dark fantasy aesthetic, medieval warriors twisted by some evil force. Singed fits naturally into it because his whole kit revolves around spreading poison and chaos.

No chromas available for this one. Zero. What you see is what you get. (Random aside: I actually think this skin would look incredible with a red or purple chroma variant but Riot never went back to it.) Shop has it permanently, 750 RP, no vault rotation or loot exclusivity to worry about.

Should you buy Black Scourge Singed?

Real verdict: for Singed mains this is an easy pickup. 750 RP feels fair for what you get. The model quality is genuinely good and the Omen of the Dark theme gives Singed a personality that none of his other skins really match. Beekeeper is the meme pick, Augmented is the tryhard pick, but Black Scourge is the one for when you want to look intimidating while you proxy their wave and waste the enemy jungler’s time for 3 minutes straight.

Been running this in ranked specifically on games where I plan to play aggressive early. Something about the dark armor makes the level 2 all-in with Ignite feel more threatening. Maybe just my experience but opponents seem to respect the lane less when you’re on a goofy skin versus something that looks menacing.

If you’re climbing as a Singed one-trick and want variety in your skin rotation without dropping 1350 or 1820, this is S-tier for the price bracket. I keep coming back to it even after trying Snow Day and Astronaut. Simple change – huge impact on how the champion feels in game. Worth 750 if you main Singed, no question.
