Played maybe 200 games with Atlantean Syndra across two seasons and honestly the skin just holds up. Dropped into the shop April 29, 2014 during a time when Riot was still figuring out what mid-tier skins could look like, and Syndra got one of the better treatments for 975 RP. Not gonna lie, the underwater aesthetic caught me off guard when I first locked it in back in season 4. Expected something generic. Got something with real identity.
How Atlantean Syndra plays on the Rift
The orbs are the main thing here. Syndra’s whole kit revolves around those dark spheres and Atlantean swaps them for these deep ocean-colored energy balls that read clean against most terrain. Q placement in lane feels slightly different visually, not in a gameplay sense but in a “I can track my spheres faster” sense. Could be wrong here but the teal color pops harder against river and jungle compared to base.
W grab looks solid. Picking up a sphere or a minion has this aquatic shimmer that base Syndra completely lacks. E scatter still pushes the spheres the same way obviously, but the trail effect carries that ocean green through the stun line. Helpful for tracking in a chaotic teamfight around dragon pit last Tuesday when their Katarina dove our backline and I needed to peel with a well-placed scatter.
Her ult still hits hard visually. All those spheres crashing into one target with the Atlantean color palette is satisfying. Voice lines stay base, no changes there. The recall animation is new though, and its cool for a 975 skin. Syndra channels this deep sea energy in a spiral pattern. Short and clean.
The Forgotten Depths line and who made this
Atlantean Syndra belongs to the Forgotten Depths skinline. Riot didnt do a ton with this line but the ones they made carry a specific vibe. Underwater ruins, ancient power, that sort of thing. Syndra fits naturally into the concept because her whole character is about raw force and control.
Christian Fell nailed the splash. The composition puts Syndra rising from deep water with her spheres orbiting like captured deep-sea artifacts. Season 4 splash work from Riot varied a lot in quality but this one holds up even now. (Random aside: this splash has been my desktop wallpaper rotation for like two years and I never get tired of it.)
No chromas on this one. Zero. For 975 RP thats expected from that era. Riot wasnt doing chromas in 2014 anyway. Permanent shop, so you can grab it whenever. Standard tier pricing at 975 RP which feels about right for new VFX and a recall animation without any voice work.
Should you pick up Atlantean Syndra?
Real verdict: if you main Syndra and you’re climbing through ranked, this skin does the job. Been spamming Syndra in Diamond this split and Atlantean is my second-most-used behind Star Guardian. The VFX clarity is genuinely good for a Standard skin. Not sure if it’s just me but I land more Q poke with the teal spheres because they contrast better against lane minions.
975 RP feels fair for what you get. Skip it if you already own Star Guardian or Withered Rose since those have more going on. But for Syndra one-tricks building a collection, Atlantean earns its slot. Best value Syndra skin if budget matters. The Forgotten Depths theme gives her something none of her other skins touch, that ancient ocean power fantasy. Season 9 I think or 10 dont remember, but I saw maybe 3 of these in my games all year. Underrated pick for sure.
