Star Guardian Season 4 Skins

All 17 skins in the Star Guardian Season 4 skinline. Browse splash art, chromas, and detailed reviews for every Star Guardian Season 4 skin in League of Legends.

Star Guardian Season 4 might be the most ambitious batch Riot ever dropped for this skinline. Dropped across 2022 and 2023, this wave brought 17 skins covering everything from corrupted villains to redeemed lovers. The whole thing felt like an anime season finale and honestly thats exactly what it was. Been playing ranked with half these skins since they released and some of them are permanent lock-ins for me. The Star Nemesis additions alone changed how this skinline hits. Not just sparkles and transformation sequences anymore. Real stakes.

What Makes Star Guardian Season 4 Stand Out

Every Star Guardian wave has its own flavor. Season 1 was the original magical girl homage, Season 2 expanded the roster, Season 3 went darker with Zoe. But Season 4? This one went full narrative. Riot treated it like an actual event with cinematics, a visual novel, and corrupted versions of existing guardians. The visual identity shifted hard. You still get the pastel palette and the star motifs but there's a much heavier contrast with the Star Nemesis skins pulling in deep purples, blacks, and corrupted particle effects.

The shared VFX across this wave are some of the cleanest Riot has produced. Star particles on abilities, those signature transformation recalls, the little familiars following champions around. Kinda feels like every skin in the set was designed to look good together in a team comp. Which makes sense because thats literally the fantasy. Five Star Guardians bot side in an ARAM? Chef's kiss.

Not gonna lie, the splash arts for this batch are on another level compared to earlier seasons. The group splashes especially. There's a cohesion to the color grading and composition that Season 1 and 2 just didnt have. The corrupted splashes for Fiddlesticks and Morgana use this deep violet-black palette that contrasts perfectly against the main roster. Played a game last December where both teams had full Star Guardian comps and the loading screen looked like a movie poster.

(Random aside: the Star Guardian visual novel event was genuinely fun, like I spent more time in the client reading dialogue than actually playing ranked that week.)

What ties the line together visually is the star-gem motif. Every champion carries some form of star relic. The particles share a sparkle density that reads immediately on the Rift. You see a Star Guardian ability fly across a teamfight and you know exactly what skinline it is. No confusion. Clean brand identity from Riot's art team on this one.

Best Star Guardian Season 4 Skins

Four Legendaries in one wave. Wild. And all four of them deliver.

Star Guardian Akali is probably the standout for most people. Legendary tier, 1820 RP, and it earns every bit of that price tag. The Q shuriken transforms into this star-blade projectile that just looks right in lane. New VO, new animations, the whole package. Been spamming this in Diamond since it dropped and the R2 execute animation still gets me. Could be wrong here but I think this is Akali's best skin period. The way her shroud particles shift into star dust? Nobody else does that.

Star Guardian Kai'Sa comes in close second. Another Legendary, another full rework of the visual identity. Her evolved abilities each get distinct star-themed upgrades and the ult dash trail is genuinely beautiful. Took this into ranked for maybe 30 games straight when it released around July 2022. The passive proc VFX specifically - those little star bursts on the fourth hit - make csing feel satisfying in a way base Kai'Sa never does.

Redeemed Star Guardian Xayah and Redeemed Star Guardian Rakan are the emotional core of the set though. Both Legendary, both callbacks to their corrupted Season 3 versions. The redemption arc plays out in the skin design itself. Xayah's feathers shift from dark corrupted tones back to bright pink-gold. Rakan's shield particles went from that sickly green to warm starlight. Lock these two in as a duo bot lane and the shared recall animation is worth 1820 RP alone. Played this combo with my duo partner around 2 AM on a Tuesday and we won six straight. Correlation isnt causation but I'm not changing skins after that.

Prestige Star Guardian Syndra deserves a mention too. Mythic tier, white-and-gold palette, clean orb VFX. Not sure if it's just me but the Prestige version reads better in game than the base Star Guardian Syndra. The gold particles on her Q are easier to track in teamfights. S-tier Syndra cosmetic.

The Champion Roster

Sixteen champions across 17 skins. Massive wave.

The star of the villain side is Star Nemesis Fiddlesticks. Corrupted scarecrow in a Star Guardian universe? Sounds weird on paper. Works perfectly in game. The ult especially - Crowstorm with dark star particles raining down in a teamfight is terrifying in a way that fits both the champion fantasy and the skinline lore. Fiddlesticks mains waited years for a skin this creative.

Star Nemesis Morgana pairs with Fiddle as the antagonist duo. Her binding carries corrupted star particles and the pool VFX got the dark treatment. Good skin. Not as memorable as Fiddlesticks but solid for Morgana mains who want something different from Bewitching or Coven.

Sona, Orianna, and Quinn round out the Epic tier guardians and all three fit the magical girl aesthetic naturally. Sona is almost too obvious a pick for Star Guardian but the execution lands. Orianna's ball becoming a star familiar is clever design. Quinn with Valor as a star-creature works better than I expected. Maybe just my experience but Quinn feels underrated in this set.

Taliyah, Seraphine, Senna, Ekko, Rell, Nilah - they fill out the roster and most of them land well. Ekko got both a base Epic and a Prestige Mythic version which feels like Riot betting heavy on his popularity. Fair bet honestly. Real talk though, Rell and Nilah feel slightly forced into the theme. Not bad skins, just not the first champions you'd pick for a magical girl line. But thats fine. Not every skin needs to be a perfect thematic match.

Tier Breakdown and Pricing

The split here is interesting. Eleven Epics at 1350 RP, four Legendaries at 1820 RP, two Mythics. No Standard tier skins. No Ultimate. Everything starts at Epic minimum which means Riot treated this as a premium drop across the board.

The Legendaries carry the line. Full stop. Star Guardian Akali and Kai'Sa are the headliners, Redeemed Rakan and Xayah bring the emotional weight. The Epics are solid but they're doing standard Epic work - new model, new particles, new recall, base VO. Nothing wrong with that at 1350 RP. Fair price for the package.

Price range runs 1350 to 1820 RP. If you're buying selectively I'd say grab one Legendary and your main's Epic if they're in the set. Could be coping but I think the Epics here punch above their weight compared to other 1350 RP lines. The shared star particle system gives even the cheapest skins in the wave a premium feel. Played Star Guardian Taliyah for a full month around season 13 and never felt like I was missing out compared to the Legendary owners in my games.

The two Mythics - Prestige Syndra and Prestige Ekko - sit in that weird prestige pricing space. Worth it for one-tricks. Skip if you're just collecting. Straight talk.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many Star Guardian Season 4 skins are there?

There's 17 Star Guardian Season 4 skins total across 16 champions. Ekko got two versions - his base Star Guardian and a Prestige variant. The wave dropped across 2022 and 2023 which made it one of the biggest single skinline expansions Riot has done. Massive roster for one thematic push.

What is the best Star Guardian Season 4 skin?

Star Guardian Akali takes it for me. Legendary tier with full new VO, transformed ability VFX, and the cleanest R2 animation in her skin catalog. Redeemed Star Guardian Xayah is a close second if you care about the lore payoff. Both are 1820 RP and both earn it. Honestly cant go wrong with either.

Which champions have Star Guardian Season 4 skins?

Sixteen champions made it into Season 4. The big names are Akali, Kai'Sa, Xayah, Rakan, and Syndra. Supporting cast includes Sona, Orianna, Quinn, Ekko, Seraphine, Taliyah, Senna, Rell, and Nilah. Fiddlesticks and Morgana got the villain treatment as Star Nemesis variants. Huge roster.

Does Star Guardian Season 4 have Legendary skins?

Four Legendaries. Star Guardian Akali, Star Guardian Kai'Sa, Redeemed Star Guardian Rakan, and Redeemed Star Guardian Xayah. All 1820 RP with new voice lines, unique animations, and reworked ability VFX. Having four Legendaries in one wave was pretty unusual for Riot at the time. They went all in.

When did the Star Guardian Season 4 skinline release?

The main wave hit in July 2022 alongside the Star Guardian event with the visual novel and everything. Some skins trickled into 2023. The 2022 summer event was basically Star Guardian Season 4's launch party. Probably the biggest single event Riot built around a skinline that year.

Are Star Guardian Season 4 skins worth buying?

If you main any of the Legendary champions - Akali, Kai'Sa, Xayah, Rakan - then yes, absolutely worth it. The Epics at 1350 RP are solid too, especially Sona and Fiddlesticks. I'd say pick your main's skin and maybe one Legendary that catches your eye. Dont need the whole collection unless you're really into the theme.

Do Star Guardian Season 4 skins have chromas?

Several of the Epic skins got chromas. The Legendary skins typically dont get chromas which holds true here too. Prestige Syndra and Prestige Ekko are their own color variants essentially. If chromas matter to you, the Epic tier is where you'll find options. Check individual skin pages for specific counts.

Will Riot make more Star Guardian Season 4 skins?

Season 4 is complete as a wave. Riot could always do a Season 5 but thats a separate skinline at that point. With 17 skins already in Season 4 I think this chapter is closed. The Star Guardian universe keeps growing though so more champions will probably get the treatment eventually. Just under a different season banner.
