Astronauts Skins
All 14 skins in the Astronauts skinline. Browse splash art, chromas, and detailed reviews for every Astronauts skin in League of Legends.
Astronauts is one of those skinlines that just makes you smile the second you see the splash art. Bunch of yordles and oddball champions stuffed into space suits, bouncing around the Rift with zero-gravity VFX and little alien buddies floating behind them. Been seeing these pop up in my ranked games since Riot started expanding the line around 2020, and honestly the vibe is immaculate. Not every skinline needs to be dark and edgy. Sometimes you just want to play a space hamster and watch your shrooms float in anti-gravity bubbles.

What Makes the Astronauts Line Stand Out
The visual identity here is tight. Every Astronaut skin shares that same retro-futuristic NASA aesthetic with rounded helmets, chunky space suits in white and orange, and those signature teal-green VFX that look like some kind of alien energy. The color palette across the whole line stays consistent. White suits, orange accents, teal particles, and a deep space backdrop in every splash. Riot could have gone full sci-fi with this but they kept it grounded in that 1960s space race nostalgia and it works.
What ties the skins together visually is the shared particle set. Abilities get this floaty, low-gravity treatment where projectiles drift slightly and impacts create these little constellation bursts. Not gonna lie, the recall animations are where the line really shines. Each champion does their own thing in a little moon base setup, planting flags, floating around, interacting with alien critters. The recalls alone justify 1350 RP on some of these.
Compare this to something like Space Groove which goes full disco-funk psychedelic, and Astronauts feels way more cohesive. Space Groove is louder, more chaotic. Astronauts knows what it is. Clean suits, space theme, cute aliens, done. Theres a simplicity to the concept that makes every new addition feel natural instead of forced. The splash arts all share that same composition style too, champion floating in space or standing on some asteroid, which gives the collection page a really satisfying visual flow when you scroll through them.
Could be wrong here but I think the sound design is underrated on these skins. The ability sounds have this muffled, echoey quality like youre hearing them through a space helmet. Subtle detail but it adds up over a 30-minute game. First noticed it on Astronaut Veigar's ult, that deep reverb hit. Clean stuff.
Best Astronauts Skins to Lock In
Astronaut Bard is the crown jewel. Full stop. Bard already has this cosmic wanderer identity baked into his base kit, so putting him in a space suit feels like the most natural fit in the entire line. His meeps become little aliens, his magical journey portal gets that space-warp treatment, and the ult drops this massive dome that looks like a force field from a sci-fi movie. Been spamming this in Diamond support games and the number of compliments I get in all chat is actually wild. (Random aside: the chime sound effect on this skin is genuinely the most satisfying audio cue in League.)
Second pick is Astronaut Veigar. The tiny evil yordle in an oversized space helmet is peak character design. His cage becomes this laser grid thing, and the dark matter drops as some kind of orbital strike. The ult meteor is now a satellite beam. Locked in this skin for maybe 60 games in a row last season and it never got old. Veigar mains know whats up.
AstroNautilus deserves special mention just for the name alone. Riot really said "the pun writes itself" and went with it. His anchor becomes a satellite dish, the hook animation has this grapple-cable feel to it, and the depth charge ult travels with a little rocket trail. Played this one in a ranked game around 3 AM last Wednesday and my ADC asked where I got the skin. Legacy vault, been sitting on it since 2012 I think.
Astronaut Corki fits the theme naturally because the dude already flies a plane. Swap the plane for a spaceship and his kit translates perfectly. The package becomes a rocket re-entry. Missiles look like little guided rockets. Not the flashiest skin in the line but everything just makes sense thematically.
Might be overthinking it but Astronaut Maokai is quietly one of the better ones. A tree. In space. Wearing a space suit. The saplings become these little alien plant creatures and his ult sends a wave of alien roots across the lane. The contrast between "literal tree" and "astronaut" is what makes it funny and Riot leaned into that perfectly.
The Champion Roster and Who Fits
14 skins total in the Astronauts line. Solid roster. The line leans heavily toward yordles and smaller champions which is a smart creative choice. Teemo, Veigar, Poppy, Kennen, Gnar, Corki. Small champions in big space suits. The visual comedy writes itself.
Bard fits perfectly for reasons I already mentioned. Nautilus works because of the pun and the deep-sea-to-deep-space parallel. Ivern is another one that surprised me. Tree man in space sounds dumb on paper but the execution carries it. His Daisy becomes this massive space golem and the bushes turn into alien vegetation patches. Seen a few Ivern one-tricks running this in my games and it looks great in the jungle.
Xerath feels like the odd one out honestly. Energy being in a space suit is a stretch. He doesn't have a body to put a suit on in the first place. Kinda feels like Riot just needed another mid laner in the line and Xerath got tagged. Not a bad skin by any means but the thematic connection is weaker than everyone else.
Fizz makes sense. Little aquatic trickster in space, his shark ult becomes some kind of space whale or alien creature. Rammus rolling around in a space suit is inherently funny. Singed running around trailing space gas behind him works.
Who should get one next? Real talk though, Ziggs is the obvious answer. Yordle, already throws things, bombs become space mines. Lulu would be another great fit. Her polymorph could turn enemies into little aliens. (Sidebar: surprised Rumble hasn't gotten one yet considering he literally pilots a mech already.)
Tier Breakdown and Pricing
Here's the thing about Astronauts. Every single skin in the line is Epic tier at 1350 RP. All 14 of them. No Legendaries, no budget options, no Mythics. Just straight 1350 across the board. Consistent pricing.
This means you know exactly what you're getting. New model, new VFX, new SFX, new recall animation, no new voice lines. Standard Epic package. None of them have unique VO which is maybe the one area where a Legendary could really elevate the line. Imagine Astronaut Bard with space-themed voice lines and unique interactions. Riot leaving money on the table there.
1350 RP feels fair for most of these. The VFX work is solid across the board and the thematic consistency means even the weaker entries (Xerath, maybe Singed) still look good next to the rest. If you're a collector trying to grab the whole set thats 14 times 1350 which is... a lot of RP. Maybe just grab the ones for champions you actually play. Not sure if it's just me but I think Bard and Veigar are the must-haves, everything else is preference.
Price range being locked at 1350 also means these go on sale for 675 RP during the regular rotation sales. Been watching for Astronaut Bard to hit My Shop for three cycles now. Still waiting. The line started way back in 2010 with AstroNautilus and Astronaut Teemo, then Riot expanded it significantly in 2020 and 2021 with a bunch of new additions. Latest batch dropped in 2023 with Ivern and some others.
Astronauts Skinline FAQ
How many Astronaut skins are there?
14 Astronaut skins total as of 2023. The line started back in 2010 with Astronaut Teemo and AstroNautilus, then Riot went hard on expanding it around 2020 and 2021. Every skin in the line sits at Epic tier, 1350 RP each. Solid collection size for a thematic line, not too bloated but enough variety to cover multiple roles.
What is the best Astronaut skin?
Astronaut Bard. Not even close in my opinion. The cosmic wanderer fantasy fits perfectly with the space theme, meeps become aliens, and the ult looks incredible. Astronaut Veigar is a strong second pick, especially if you main him in mid. The orbital strike ult animation alone is worth the 1350 RP.
Which champions have Astronaut skins?
The roster covers 14 champions. Teemo, Bard, Veigar, Corki, Nautilus, Poppy, Gnar, Maokai, Ivern, and more. Line leans heavily toward yordles and quirky picks which fits the playful space theme. No traditional carries or assassins in the mix, its mostly tanks, supports, and mages.
Does the Astronauts skinline have Legendary skins?
Nope. Every Astronaut skin is Epic tier at 1350 RP. No Legendaries, no Ultimates, no budget 975 options either. Straight 1350 across all 14. Honestly think the line could benefit from one Legendary with full VO, Astronaut Bard with space-themed voice lines would be an instant buy for me.
When did the Astronauts skinline release?
First Astronaut skins dropped in 2010 with Astronaut Teemo and AstroNautilus. The line sat quiet for years after that. Riot brought it back in a big way around 2020-2021 with a wave of new champions joining the roster. Most recent additions came in 2023. Long running line with a slow build.
Are Astronaut skins worth buying?
For 1350 RP, yeah most of them deliver. The VFX work is consistent, the space theme translates well across different champion kits, and the recall animations are genuinely fun. Best value picks are Bard, Veigar, and Maokai. Maybe skip Xerath unless you really main him, the theme fits him less naturally than the others.
Do Astronaut skins have chromas?
Several of the newer Astronaut skins came with chroma sets on release. The 2020 and 2021 batches especially. Standard chroma packs, usually around 6-8 color variants per skin. Some of the chromas swap the suit colors from white to black or red which changes the vibe completely. Worth checking if your main has one.
Will Riot make more Astronaut skins?
Could be wrong here but I think so. Riot tends to revisit popular thematic lines every couple years and Astronauts sells well from what I can tell. Plenty of champions still fit the theme. Ziggs, Lulu, Rumble all feel like natural additions. No official announcements as of now but the line isnt dead by any stretch.
