Yorick is one of those champions where the skin catalog tells you everything about how Riot feels about him. Nine skins total across more than a decade of existence, and not a single Legendary. Let that sink in. Been playing Yorick on and off since his rework in season 6, and honestly the skins have gotten way better in the last few years. But for the longest time you were stuck with some rough options. The collection finally has some real picks now though, and a couple of them genuinely slap in ranked.

How Yorick's Skin Collection Shaped Up Over the Years

Nine skins. Thats the number for a champion who's been in the game since 2011. Compare that to Lux or Ezreal sitting on 15+ and you start to see where Yorick lands on Riot's priority list. Not gonna lie, it used to sting a bit as someone who locks him in for splitpush duty in Diamond.

The breakdown is pretty simple: two Standard tier skins and seven Epics. No Legendary. No Ultimate. No Mythic or Prestige. Just straight 520 and 1350 RP options across the board. The price range tells you Riot keeps things modest here. Could be wrong here but I think they know the playerbase for Yorick is small and dedicated rather than massive and casual.

The oldest skin, High Noon Yorick, and the newest one, Dark Star Yorick from 2024, show how far things have come. Early Yorick skins were basically texture swaps with minimal effort. The newer Epics actually put work into the ghouls, the Maiden, the whole kit fantasy. Took them long enough. Spirit Blossom and Dark Star both came out in recent years and they actually feel like complete packages with custom VFX on abilities.

The real turning point was probably around season 8 or 9 when Riot started giving him skins that acknowledged his unique kit. Before that it felt like they were designing skins for a generic melee champion and just slapping Yorick's model on it. Might be overthinking it but you can literally see the design philosophy shift when you compare Undertaker to something like Meowrick. Night and day.

Best Skins for Yorick

This is where opinions get spicy. Been running Yorick in Diamond for multiple seasons now and I've cycled through most of these. Here's what actually holds up in game.

Meowrick. Full stop. Best Yorick skin and I will die on this hill. The ghouls are cats. The Maiden is a giant cat. Your Q summons little kittens from graves. Everything about this skin is absurd and it works perfectly. 1350 RP for a skin that makes your entire kit feel like a different game. Played maybe 150 games with Meowrick last season and the amount of times enemy laners type "nice skin" in all chat is genuinely high. (Random aside: my duo partner refuses to play with me when I use this skin because "the cat sounds are tilting." His problem not mine.)

Arclight Yorick sits at number two for me. The golden angel aesthetic fits Yorick's gravedigger fantasy in a weird but compelling way. Holy light meets death. Your W, the dark procession wall, becomes this radiant cage and it reads so cleanly in teamfights. The Maiden gets a full angelic redesign too. 1350 RP well spent for mains. Real talk though, the splash art carries hard here. In game the gold can look a bit washed out on certain maps.

Spirit Blossom Yorick is the newest contender for top spot. Dropped in 2024 and the skin just hits different in ranked. The petals on Q graves, the spectral Maiden, the whole aesthetic is clean. Spammed this in Diamond for about three weeks straight when it came out. The E, Mourning Mist, leaves these flower trails that actually help you track where you threw it. Small detail but it matters when you're trying to land poke in lane.

Pentakill III: Lost Chapter Yorick deserves a mention. The metal aesthetic with Yorick works naturally since he's literally summoning the dead. Your ghouls become these rock zombies. Cool concept, solid execution at 1350 RP. Not the flashiest but consistent.

Dark Star Yorick rounds out the top five. The cosmic horror angle on Yorick's kit translates well. Ghouls become these void creatures, the Maiden is genuinely unsettling. Released 2024 and its the most recent addition to the catalog. Quality skin, just faces stiff competition from Meowrick and Spirit Blossom.

Skinlines and Where Yorick Fits

Yorick appears across eight different skinlines which is actually decent variety for nine skins. Omen of the Dark, Pentakill, Arclight, Cats Versus Dogs, Battlecast, Pentakill III: The Lost Chapter, Spirit Blossom, and Dark Star. Not every fit is perfect though.

Kinda feels like the best thematic matches are the ones that lean into death and summoning. Dark Star works because cosmic destruction pairs with raising the dead. Spirit Blossom works because the spiritual realm connects to Yorick's whole deal with souls. Arclight flips the script with holy light but still deals in the afterlife space. These three feel intentional.

Pentakill is interesting because Yorick is literally a founding member of the band in the lore. He got both the original Pentakill skin and the Lost Chapter update. The metal band fantasy shouldn't work for a gravedigger but it does because the whole undead aesthetic fits heavy metal naturally. Been a Pentakill enjoyer since season 7 I think.

The weaker fits are Resistance and Battlecast. Not bad skins by any means but the sci-fi angle on Yorick feels generic. You lose the necromancer identity when everything becomes robots and tech. Your ghouls just look like drones instead of undead minions. Maybe just my experience but every time I lock in Resistance Yorick something feels off about the kit cohesion. The Cats Versus Dogs line gave us Meowrick though so I cant complain about Riot experimenting with comedy skinlines for him.

Budget vs Premium: Getting the Most Out of Yorick Skins

Here's the thing with Yorick. No Legendary exists. So your ceiling is 1350 RP Epics. That simplifies the decision a lot. You're choosing between two 520 RP Standards (Undertaker and Pentakill) and seven 1350 RP Epics.

The 520 RP skins are texture changes. No new VFX, no new animations. Voice lines stay base. If you're climbing and just want something different from default Yorick, Pentakill at 520 RP is the budget king. The dark metal look works and you're spending less than half an Epic's price. Fair warning, the skin is old and it shows in model quality compared to modern standards.

For the premium pick at 1350, Meowrick is the answer nine times out of ten. Complete package with custom particles on everything, unique ghoul models, transformed Maiden. The cats genuinely change how the champion feels to play. Alternatively Spirit Blossom or Arclight if cats arent your thing. All three Epics justify the 1350 RP price tag with full VFX overhauls on Q, W, E, R and the passive ghouls.

Best value overall? Pentakill at 520 if you're on a budget. Meowrick at 1350 if you can swing it. Skip Resistance unless you really love the mech aesthetic. (Sidebar for Yorick one-tricks specifically: you already own Meowrick, dont pretend you don't.)
