Locked in Winterblessed Lucian the day it dropped in December 2023 and played maybe 15 games that first weekend. Not gonna lie, I wasnt expecting much from another holiday-themed skin, but the frozen light aesthetic on Lucian actually works. The whole divine winter warrior angle fits him way better than it has any right to. First game loading in, the splash alone had me sold before I even saw abilities in motion.

What the skin actually changes on Lucian

New VFX across the board. His Q fires this sharp beam of pale blue-white light that reads cleaner than base in teamfights. Honestly a small detail but it helped me track the hitbox better in lane. W sends out a frosted projectile that pops with ice crystal particles on contact, and the mark it leaves has this subtle snowflake shimmer.

E dash leaves behind a trail of frost on the ground. Brief but noticeable. The real highlight for me is R though. The Culling becomes this barrage of icy bolts with a frosty muzzle flash that looks incredible when you’re shredding through the backline. Been running this in Diamond ranked and the visual clarity on his ult is genuinely better than some of his older skins. Could be wrong here but I think the auto attack particles feel slightly crisper too, the lightslinger passive proc has this cold spark effect.

New recall animation ties it together. Lucian channels this winter blessing energy, kneeling with his guns crossed. Clean and thematic. Voice lines stay base, no new VO, which is standard for a 1350 RP Epic tier skin. Not a dealbreaker.

The Winterblessed line and release context

Winterblessed Lucian released December 6, 2023. Late season 13. Huyy Nguyen and West Studio handled the artwork, and they cooked on this one. The Winterblessed skinline is Riot’s sacred winter theme, separate from the older Winter Wonder or Snow Day lines. More celestial, less Christmas sweater. Think divine frost knights rather than holiday cheer.

Lucian joins a solid Winterblessed roster alongside Hwei, Diana, Senna, and others. The line keeps a consistent palette of icy blues, whites, and gold accents that translates well across champions. (Random aside: the Winterblessed splashes as a set might be the most cohesive splash collection Riot has put out in recent years.)

9 chromas total. Obsidian is my pick, turns the whole skin dark with these cold purple undertones that feel more serious in ranked. Wreathguard leans into the holiday red-green combo if thats your vibe, kinda festive without being obnoxious. Pearl goes full angelic white which pairs nicely with the divine theme. The rest cover your standard gemstone colors but those three stand out.

Should you grab Winterblessed Lucian?

Real verdict: this is a strong Epic skin. 1350 RP feels fair for what you get. The VFX overhaul is thorough, recall is solid, and the Winterblessed fantasy on Lucian works better than I expected going in. Played this for about two months straight in season 14 before rotating back to High Noon, and I keep coming back to it when I want something cleaner.

If you main Lucian, this competes directly with High Noon and Pulsefire for best overall package. High Noon still has the legendary treatment with new VO, but purely on visual feel Winterblessed holds its own. For 1350 versus 1820 that’s saying something. Might be overthinking it but I think the cooler color palette on Winterblessed actually makes it easier to focus in late-game teamfights compared to the warmer tones on his other skins.

Shop has it, permanent availability. Skip it if you already own three Lucian skins and dont play him in ranked, but for Lucian mains or anyone climbing with ADC this season, it’s an easy recommend. Last Tuesday I saw two other Winterblessed Lucians in my games which tells me the skin is holding popularity well past its release window. Worth the RP for mains, no question.
