First time I saw Vandal Brand was back in season 1 or 2, cant remember exactly. Some dude in my normal game was running around setting everything on fire looking like he walked out of a biker bar. Immediate thought was “that’s sick.” Simple reaction. The skin still hits that same note for me years later even though Brand has gotten way flashier options since.

What the skin actually changes

Real talk though, this is a Standard tier skin at 520 RP so temper expectations. Vandal Brand swaps out the default burning mage look for a punk biker aesthetic. Leather jacket, chains, mohawk situation going on. The color palette shifts from Brand’s usual fiery orange to something darker and grittier. Think less “elemental fire spirit” and more “dude who lights stuff on fire at underground shows last Tuesday around midnight.”

No new VFX on this one. Your Q, W, E, R all look the same as base Brand. Voice stays default too. No new recall animation either. What you’re paying for is purely the model and texture swap. For 520 RP thats fair. Not every skin needs to reinvent the wheel.

The model itself reads well in lane. The darker silhouette against the Rift is actually pretty clean, and I think in teamfights the biker look stands out enough that you dont lose track of yourself. Been running this in some ARAM games recently and the mohawk is surprisingly visible even in the chaos of a 5v5 engage.

The Vandal line and where this fits

Vandal Brand dropped April 12, 2011. Early League days. Kelly Aleshire did the splash, and honestly for that era of splash art it holds up okay. Not amazing by modern standards but it captures the vibe.

The Vandal skinline is one of those old-school Riot thematic lines that includes champs like Gragas, Jax, Twitch, and Vladimir. Biker gang energy across the board. Kinda feels like Riot was experimenting with shared themes before they started doing the massive coordinated releases we see now. The Vandal set has charm specifically because its rough around the edges. (Random aside: I low-key want Riot to revisit this line with modern quality but they probably never will.)

No chromas on Vandal Brand. Zero. Given the age and tier of the skin that tracks. Legacy vault skin so you wont find it in the regular shop rotation. Hextech only these days unless Riot brings it back for some event sale. Seen maybe two of these in my games all season, possibly three. Not a common sight.

Should you pick up Vandal Brand?

Might be overthinking it but I think Vandal Brand occupies a weird sweet spot. Its not good enough to compete with skins like Zombie Brand or Spirit Fire Brand on a pure “bang for your buck” level. Those skins have new particles, new sounds, the whole package. Vandal is just a model swap.

But here’s the thing. 520 RP is dirt cheap. The biker aesthetic is genuinely cool and different from every other Brand skin. If you’re a Brand main who plays mid or support and you want something in rotation that doesn’t scream “I spent 1820 RP on this champion,” Vandal is a solid pickup. Had it in my collection since season 4 I think and I still lock it in occasionally when I want that gritty feel before spamming W in lane.

Skip it if you only want one Brand skin. Go Zombie or Spirit Fire instead. But for collectors or Brand one-tricks who want variety on a budget, this is worth grabbing if it shows up in your loot. The Legacy status actually makes it feel a bit more exclusive than it probably deserves. Simple change – big personality shift. Fair price for the package.
