Snow Moon Ahri

First game I played with Snow Moon Ahri was around 2 AM on a Tuesday, right after the patch dropped. Loaded into a Diamond ranked game, locked her in, and the loading screen splash alone had me sold. Terence ‘Terrylefruit’ Cantal nailed the splash on this one. The cold blue palette against that lunar backdrop hits a specific mood that most Ahri skins dont go for. Not the pop-star fantasy, not the mystical fox spirit thing. This one leans into something darker and sharper.

How Snow Moon Ahri plays on the Rift

The VFX overhaul is the real selling point here. Her Q orb carries this icy crescent trail that reads clean against basically any terrain on the Rift. Honestly not gonna lie, the orb return animation might be the best Q visual Ahri has across her entire skin catalog. Clean and distinct.

W foxfires got the full treatment too. They orbit with a frosty shimmer that actually helps you track them in a teamfight, which matters when you’re trying to proc the damage on the right target in a messy 5v5. E charm leaves a subtle moon trail. Not as flashy as some of her other skins but it reads well for the enemy too, so you’re not getting away with any sneaky angles you wouldnt normally hit.

R dashes feel crisp. Each dash leaves behind a brief lunar crescent on the ground. Been running this in ranked for maybe 30 games now and the animations feel responsive. No visual clutter messing with your movement reads. The recall is solid, does the whole meditative moon ritual thing. Fits the Snow Moon line perfectly.

Voice lines stay base. Standard for a 1350 RP Epic tier skin. No filter either. Kinda feels like a missed opportunity given how atmospheric the visual package is, but thats the trade-off at this price point.

Snow Moon as a skinline and where Ahri fits

Snow Moon released May 18, 2023. Season 13 content. The Snow Moon line pulls from East Asian winter mythology and Riot pushed it across a few champions. Caitlyn and Kayn got Snow Moon skins in the same cycle. Ahri fits the aesthetic naturally because the fox spirit fantasy already maps onto the theme without forcing it.

(Random aside: the Snow Moon Caitlyn splash is genuinely my desktop wallpaper but the Ahri one is better suited for a phone screen. The vertical composition just works.)

8 chromas total for Snow Moon Ahri. Tanzanite is the one I keep coming back to. The deep purple shifts the entire color identity of the skin away from the icy blue, makes her feel like a completely different character in lane. Emerald is interesting if you want that jade vibe. Ruby exists for the ruby collectors but honestly it clashes with the snow theme pretty hard. Rest are fine, nothing that made me double-take.

Should you pick up Snow Moon Ahri?

Real verdict: this sits comfortably in Ahri’s top five skins. Maybe top three depending on your taste. Spirit Blossom Ahri is still the fan favorite and my Ahri one-trick friend swears by that one exclusively. K/DA All Out has the flashiness factor. But Snow Moon occupies a lane nobody else in her catalog touches. The cold, disciplined, almost militant energy.

Not sure if it’s just me but I think this skin actually makes her feel faster. Placebo, obviously, but the animation silhouettes are tight and the dash particles dont linger long enough to create visual noise. In a comp where you need to poke from the backline and then dive when the engage lands, having clean VFX matters more than people think. Season 13 I think I climbed like 150 LP spamming Ahri with this skin. Correlation, not causation. Probably.

1350 RP feels fair for what you get. Full VFX package, solid recall, 8 chromas if you want variety. Skip this if you already own Spirit Blossom and only play Ahri casually. But for Ahri mains who want something that reads clean in competitive games and doesnt scream “look at my skin” in champion select, Snow Moon Ahri is the pick. Best winter-themed Ahri skin full stop, and there’s not even close competition for that slot.
