Sahn-Uzal is Mordekaiser’s original name. Before the iron revenant armor, before the conquest, before he became the terrifying warlord we know in-game. This Exalted tier skin released April 16, 2025 and it represents Mordekaiser in his true ascended form. The lore-canon ultimate version of the character. Dropped it into a ranked game the day it came out and my lane opponent, a Darius one-trick, all-chatted “what is that” during loading screen. Good start.
The true form of the Iron Revenant
The model is a complete departure from standard Mordekaiser. Gone is the bulky iron armor. Sahn-Uzal appears as this imposing figure in ancient warlord regalia with death magic radiating from his body. The silhouette is different enough from base that he reads as almost a different champion at first glance. No splash artist credited in the data but the in-game model speaks for itself. The proportions feel more human somehow, less golem, which makes sense lore-wise because Sahn-Uzal is who Mordekaiser was before he encased himself in iron. There’s an elegance to the design that base Mordekaiser intentionally lacks.
Obliterate on Q slams down with ancient death energy instead of the usual mace impact. The ground crack effect is wider, more elaborate. Indestructible on W shields with a dark aura that pulses with spectral effects. The health drain visual when you recast W to heal has this satisfying soul-extraction look. Death’s Grasp on E pulls enemies with spectral chains that have more visual weight than base. You can feel the pull animation.
Realm of Death on R is the centerpiece. Mordekaiser’s ult already drags one enemy into the Death Realm for a 1v1. Sahn-Uzal’s version transforms the Death Realm itself. The arena looks different, more ancient, more primal. The walls of the Death Realm have different textures and the ambient effects inside are noticeably enhanced. Ulting someone with this skin feels like dragging them into Sahn-Uzal’s personal dimension of pain. Ulted their fed Yone in a game last Tuesday and the Death Realm visual was so dramatic that I almost forgot to actually fight him in there.
Fred Tatasciore voices Sahn-Uzal with lines that reference the character’s ancient history. Deeper, more ancient-sounding than base Mordekaiser. Less conqueror, more primordial force. New VFX, new voice, new recall. The voice lines hit different when you know the lore because some of them reference events from before Mordekaiser’s first death, back when he was still human. There’s a few lines about his original conquest that feel like they were written specifically for the lore nerds in the playerbase. Not gonna lie, I had to look up some of the references on the wiki after hearing them in game.
The recall animation has Sahn-Uzal performing some kind of ancient death ritual before teleporting back. Its longer than a standard recall and the ambient sound design during it is excellent – low rumbling death magic with whispered incantations. The kind of detail you only notice when you’re sitting in fountain waiting to buy and you let the full recall play out instead of canceling it.
Exalted pricing and availability
Sahn-Uzal Mordekaiser is Exalted tier with a Special price tag. Released April 16, 2025. No chromas. No skinline listed in the data which makes sense because this is a lore-canon skin rather than a thematic skinline entry. Currently available in the shop. The Exalted tier means production quality above Legendary standard.
For Mordekaiser mains this is the skin
Mordekaiser has some good options. Pentakill is the classic. PROJECT is modern. Dark Star is popular. But Sahn-Uzal is the lore skin. The canonical ultimate form of the champion. If you care about Mordekaiser’s story at all this is mandatory. If you dont care about lore and just want something that looks intimidating in top lane, Sahn-Uzal still delivers on that front because the model is genuinely imposing.
Might be too early to call it definitively since it just came out but I think this will end up being the default Mordekaiser skin for mains going forward. The Death Realm redesign alone is worth the investment. Everything else is bonus.
One more thing worth mentioning – the W shield visual on Sahn-Uzal is noticeably clearer than on several of his other skins. When you’re in a top lane trade and you activate Indestructible, the dark aura shield is distinct enough that you can track exactly how much shield you have remaining. This matters in close 1v1s where recasting W for the heal at the right moment is the difference between winning the all-in and giving up a kill. Been running this skin in ranked since it dropped and the W visual clarity alone would keep me using it even if the rest of the skin was just average. Which it isn’t – its excellent across the board. First choice for Mordekaiser mains, no contest.
