First game I locked in Prestige Dragonmancer Rakan was a late-night Diamond ranked session, maybe 1 AM on a Wednesday. My duo partner asked why my Rakan looked like he just stepped out of a celestial palace. Honest answer? Because he did. This Mythic tier Prestige edition takes the Dragonmancer base and cranks every gold accent up to a point where your W engage literally lights up the screen. Been running this as my go-to Rakan skin since it dropped and I keep coming back to it over the base Dragonmancer version.
The gold treatment and what it changes
So the big draw here is the recolored VFX package. Prestige Dragonmancer Rakan swaps the deeper reds and purples from the standard Dragonmancer into white-gold territory. Your Q heal projectile has this shimmering golden trail that reads clean against the Rift. Honestly not gonna lie, it looks better than half the Legendary skins I own.
The W is where it hits hardest. Grand Entrance already has satisfying impact VFX on the Dragonmancer line, but the Prestige version wraps the landing circle in bright gold particles. In teamfights when you’re diving the backline, your team can actually track where you landed. Practical and pretty. The E dash shield leaves a faint golden wake behind Rakan as he glides to an ally, which I think is a subtle touch that most people wont even notice unless they slow down replays.
R is clean too. The Quill Coat charm radiates gold instead of the standard color palette. In a five-man engage during dragon pit last season, the gold pulse was visible through the chaos. Not sure if it’s just me but the hitbox feels more readable on this version. Visual clarity thing, not an actual gameplay change obviously.
New recall animation included. Rakan does this ascending dragon-themed pose that fits the Dragonmancers fantasy. No new voice lines though. Voice stays default, which is fine because Ronan Summers did solid work on base Rakan and it doesnt feel out of place with the prestige look.
Dragonmancers lineup and release context
The Dragonmancers skinline is one of Riot’s bigger thematic sets. Rakan fits naturally into it. The Eastern dragon aesthetic works for a support who’s all about fluid movement and engage patterns. Prestige Dragonmancer Rakan released January 9, 2024, mid-season 14.
Lejia Chan and Kudos Productions handled the artwork. They captured the regal energy perfectly. The splash has Rakan surrounded by golden dragon imagery, feathers catching light in a way that screams prestige without being over the top. (Random aside: this splash is genuinely one of the better Prestige splashes in the game, most of them look washed out but this one pops.)
No chromas on this one. Standard for Prestige skins. You get the single gold-white variant and thats the whole package. Availability is permanent through the Mythic shop rotation. Special pricing applies since its a Mythic tier skin, so you’re looking at Mythic Essence rather than straight RP purchase. Could be wrong here but I think it cycles back every few months if you miss it.
Where this sits in the Rakan skin lineup
Rakan has a solid roster. Star Guardian, Elderwood, Arcana, Broken Covenant. Competition is real. The thing about Prestige Dragonmancer Rakan is that it occupies this specific niche. Gold prestige aesthetic for Rakan mains who want something flashier than the base Dragonmancer but dont need the full thematic overhaul of something like Star Guardian.
Played maybe 80 games with this skin across Diamond and honestly the VFX clarity on W engage is the biggest selling point for me. In lane specifically, when you’re looking for a level 2 all-in or a gank setup, the gold particles telegraph your intent less than the darker Dragonmancer VFX. Kinda feels like the enemy ADC reacts a fraction slower. Placebo? Probably. But I’ll take it.
Compared to Arcana Rakan, which I also own, Prestige Dragonmancer reads more elegantly. Arcana has that tarot card energy which is cool but busy. The Prestige version is cleaner. Three things stood out after extended play: the W landing VFX, the recall, and how the gold peel particles look when shielding your ADC.
The honest take
Should you chase this in the Mythic shop? If you main Rakan and you’re sitting on Mythic Essence with nothing else calling your name, yes. Top pick for Rakan mains who want that prestige flex. The Dragonmancers line suits his kit, the gold recolor is executed well, and the VFX updates are noticeable without being distracting.
Skip it if you already have Star Guardian or Elderwood and you’re happy. Those skins offer more dramatic thematic shifts. Prestige Dragonmancer Rakan is a refinement, not a reinvention. But real talk though, every time I lock this in during champ select someone comments on it. Been spamming this in Diamond for months now and the novelty hasnt worn off. That says something about the quality. Season 14 Mythic release that actually earned its tier.
