Dumpling Darlings Syndra

Not gonna lie, when I first saw Dumpling Darlings Syndra pop up on PBE I thought Riot was trolling. Syndra floating around with little dumplings orbiting her head? Sounded ridiculous. Then I loaded into a game with it last Tuesday night around 1 AM and the whole vibe just clicked. The skin leans hard into the Lunar New Year food theme and somehow pulls it off without feeling like a joke skin. Syndra looks genuinely elegant here, just with tiny steamed buns instead of dark spheres.

VFX and what actually changes on this skin

So the big thing with Dumpling Darlings Syndra is the new VFX across all her abilities. Her Q drops a dumpling onto the ground instead of a dark sphere, and the landing particle has this warm golden shimmer to it. Looks clean in lane. The W pickup and toss keeps that same warm palette, steam trailing off the dumpling as Syndra flings it. Feels weighty somehow.

Her E scatter looks fantastic in teamfights. All those little dumplings flying outward with golden trails, its actually easier to read the hitbox than on some of her other skins. Been running this in Diamond for about two months now and I think the visual clarity on E is genuinely better than base. Could be wrong here but the stun cone feels more visible to my teammates too, which means better follow-up.

The ult is the highlight though. Syndra launches all her dumplings at the target and each one bursts with steam and golden light on impact. Dumped a full 7-sphere R onto their Katarina in a ranked game last week and the visual was so satisfying I forgot to type “?” in all chat. Voice lines stay base, no new VO, but the skin doesnt really need it. The recall animation is new and adorable. Syndra arranges her dumplings into a bamboo steamer basket and sits down like she’s having a meal. Short animation but it fits perfectly.

The Dumpling Darlings line and release context

Dumpling Darlings dropped February 5, 2025. Right on time for Lunar New Year. Pandart Studio and Augusto Qurino handled the splash art, and they captured something warm without making it overly cutesy. The Dumpling Darlings skinline is one of Riot’s more niche thematic lines. Seraphine got one in the same batch.

8 chromas total for this skin. Tanzanite is my personal pick, the deep purple keeps Syndra’s dark mage energy while staying on theme. Obsidian goes full contrast with dark tones that make the golden dumpling VFX pop harder. Rose Quartz is pretty but reads a little too soft for my taste on a champion who’s supposed to feel threatening. (Random aside: I keep the Tanzanite chroma as my default and forget what the base version even looks like at this point.)

This is an Epic tier skin at 1350 RP. Shop has it. Standard pricing for what you get, and honestly the VFX quality here competes with some of Syndra’s more expensive options.

Should you pick up Dumpling Darlings Syndra?

Real verdict: if you main Syndra this is a strong addition. Might not be her flashiest skin, Star Guardian and Coven both go harder on spectacle, but Dumpling Darlings has a charm those dont. The VFX are clean without being distracting. The theme is unique enough that you wont see it every game. Played maybe 40 ranked games with this since release and I’ve only run into one other person using it, season 15 in Diamond EUW specifically.

The skin works best if you appreciate the lighter side of League cosmetics. If you want Syndra to feel dark and menacing, skip this and grab Coven. But if you want something that makes you smile every time you ult someone into the ground with steamed buns? 1350 RP well spent for mains. Spammed this in Diamond and dont regret the purchase. Not her best skin full stop but comfortably top three for me, and the chromas give it real longevity in your rotation.
