Chosen of the Wolf Kindred

First game I played with Chosen of the Wolf Kindred was around 1 AM on a Tuesday, right after it dropped in November 2024. Locked it in immediately for a ranked jungle clear and something about the whole presentation just felt right. Not sure if it’s just me but Kindred has needed a skin with this kind of weight behind it for a while. The Chosen of the Wolf line treats Lamb and Wolf like actual mythic figures instead of cute mascots, and thats exactly what I wanted from an Epic tier release.

Visual overhaul and what the VFX actually do

New VFX across the board. The Q dash leaves this sharp trail that reads cleanly in teamfights, which matters when you’re trying to kite around your R boundary. Wolf’s attacks have a different particle set too, darker and more deliberate than base Kindred. The W zone got a visual refresh that makes the hunting ground feel more threatening. Good change.

Recall animation is new. Lamb and Wolf share a moment that sells the whole “chosen” fantasy without being corny about it. Been running this in Diamond for maybe 40 games now and I still watch the full recall instead of tabbing out. (Random aside: the recall music is genuinely my favorite part of the skin and nobody talks about it.)

Voice lines stay base, no new VO. For 1350 RP I think that’s expected, but Marcella Lentz-Pope and Matthew Mercer already delivered on the original recordings so it doesnt sting. The voice filter would have been nice but I’m not losing sleep over it. Might be overthinking it but the base voice actually fits the Chosen of the Wolf aesthetic better than some forced dark filter would.

Dropped November 6, 2024. Late season 14. Horace ‘Hozure’ Hsu nailed the splash, the composition puts Wolf front and center for once which is a choice I respect. Kindred splashes usually spotlight Lamb, so this felt like a deliberate shift.

The Chosen of the Wolf line launched with several champions. Swain, Katarina, Pantheon all got skins in the same set. Kindred fits the theme naturally because the whole champion identity revolves around duality and predestination. Some skinlines force champions into concepts that dont match. This one works.

8 chromas available. Obsidian is my go-to, the dark tones make Wolf look genuinely menacing in the bot lane specifically during ganks. Tanzanite hits a purple mage vibe that reads well on the Rift. Pearl is clean but almost too bright for my taste, been seeing maybe 2 people run it in my games all season.

Should you pick up Chosen of the Wolf Kindred?

Real verdict: this is a strong Epic skin. 1350 RP feels fair for what you get. New VFX, new recall, solid model work on both Lamb and Wolf. Spirit Blossom Kindred still exists as competition and honestly I swap between the two depending on my mood that week. Could be wrong here but I think Chosen of the Wolf edges it out for players who want Kindred to feel serious rather than ethereal.

Shop has it. No vault nonsense, no loot gambling. If you main Kindred or you’re a jungle player who rotates through marksman junglers, this skin earns the price. Played maybe 40 games with it across two patches and the VFX clarity in late-game teamfights is a genuine quality of life upgrade. Skip it if you already own Porcelain or Spirit Blossom and dont need a third option, but for one-tricks? Top pick for Kindred mains. Been daily driving this since it released and I keep coming back to it over everything else in the collection.
