Amethyst Ashe

Been running Amethyst Ashe on and off since like season 3 I think, and honestly not gonna lie, this skin holds up way better than it should for something from 2011. First time I saw it in a loading screen I thought it was just a purple recolor. Played one game. Changed my mind.

What Amethyst Ashe actually changes

So the model swap gives Ashe this deep purple and violet color scheme across her outfit and bow. The fur trim goes from the usual blue-white to a warmer tone that reads almost lavender in certain lighting on the Rift. Her cape gets a full recolor too. Clean look overall.

The VFX are where this skin quietly earns its price tag. Your W volley arrows shift to this purple-tinted trail, and the Q empowered autos leave a violet frost effect on hit. Not dramatic, not flashy. Just enough to feel different when you’re cs-ing in lane or poking from the backline in a teamfight. Could be wrong here but I think the R arrow also carries a slightly different hue, the crystal arrow reads more amethyst (obviously) than the icy blue default. Subtle change – huge impact on the visual clarity for me personally.

Voice lines stay base. No new recall animation either, which tracks for a Standard tier skin at 975 RP. Thats the trade-off with these older skins. You get the visual refresh without the bells and whistles that came later with stuff like PROJECT Ashe or Cosmic Queen.

(Random aside: I use this skin specifically when I want to focus on gameplay and not get distracted by flashy particles. Sounds weird but it works.)

The Legacy line and release context

Amethyst Ashe dropped November 15, 2011. Late season 1 era. The Legacy skinline is interesting because it’s basically Riot’s umbrella for older standalone skins that dont fit a thematic universe. No shared lore, no event tie-in. Just a solid costume change from a time when that was enough.

No splash artist credited in the official data, which happens a lot with skins from this period. Riot wasnt as transparent about crediting individual artists back then. The splash itself is decent for its age. Ashe in a purple palette, bow drawn, pretty standard pose but the color work carries it.

975 RP puts this in Standard tier territory. Shop has it, permanent availability, so no vault anxiety. You can grab it whenever. Zero chromas available for this one, which I think is a missed opportunity honestly. An Obsidian or Rose Quartz chroma on this would have been free money for Riot. Maybe someday.

Should you buy Amethyst Ashe?

Real verdict: if you main Ashe and you want something that looks clean without being over the top, Amethyst Ashe is a solid pickup. Played maybe 200 games with this skin across multiple seasons and it never feels stale. The purple color scheme is distinctive enough that you stand out in lane, especially against the default blue Rift backdrop.

975 RP feels fair for what you get. Not spectacular, not a ripoff. It sits in that comfortable middle ground. If you’re an Ashe one-trick with budget for one skin, I’d probably point you toward Cosmic Queen or PROJECT first. But if you already own those and want variety for your ranked rotation, Amethyst is the quiet pick that just works. Been daily driving it this season in Diamond when I get ADC, and last Thursday around midnight I had a game where the enemy Caitlyn complimented the skin in all chat pre-6. That never happens with default.

Skip it if you only play Ashe occasionally. Worth 975 RP if you main Ashe and appreciate the understated vibe. Not every skin needs to be a Legendary to earn a spot in your collection. Sometimes the simple ones hit different.
