Zed Skins

14 skins available

Zed has one of the more stacked skin catalogs in League and I dont think enough people talk about it. 14 skins deep, two Legendaries that both deliver, three Mythic tier options for the collectors, and a solid spread of Epics that cover basically every aesthetic you could want on an assassin. Been a Zed player on and off since season 3 and the way Riot has treated his cosmetics is honestly better than most mid laners get. Not every skin hits, but the highs are really high here.

How Zed's Skin Collection Shaped Up Over the Years

Shockblade Zed dropped back in 2012 alongside the champion release. Classic move from Riot, give the edgy shadow assassin an electric skin right out the gate. It was a different era for League skins. No fancy particles, no custom recalls, just a retexture with some lightning flair. Still holds up as a clean look honestly. Simple stuff.

From there Riot kept feeding Zed mains pretty consistently. SKT T1 Zed came in 2013 after Faker's legendary Worlds run. Not gonna lie, that skin carries more sentimental value than visual value. The model is basic but if you were watching season 3 Worlds live you understand why people still lock it in. Could be wrong here but I think its the most emotionally loaded skin in his catalog even if it looks dated.

PROJECT: Zed was the real turning point. Dropped in 2015 I think, right when the PROJECT line was the hottest thing Riot had going. Cyberpunk Zed with the visor and the tech-ninja aesthetic. That skin alone probably sold more RP than some entire champion skin catalogs. Then you got the Prestige version later which pushed it into Mythic territory. Six Epics fill out the middle of his collection: PROJECT, Worlds 2016, Death Sworn, PsyOps, Empyrean, Immortal Journey, and Blood Moon. Wait thats seven. Let me recount. PROJECT and Prestige PROJECT are separate, right. Either way the Epic tier is where most of his variety lives.

The two Legendaries came later. Galaxy Slayer in 2019, Debonair in 2021. Both 1820 RP, both with new voice lines and animations. The Mythic tier got three entries: Prestige PROJECT, Quantum Galaxy Slayer, and Prestige Spirit Blossom. For a champion released in 2012, getting consistent skin drops all the way through 2025 with Quantum Galaxy Slayer shows Riot knows Zed sells. 14 skins across 13 years. The catalog just keeps growing.

Best Skins for Zed

Galaxy Slayer Zed is the crown jewel. Full stop. Legendary tier, 1820 RP, and it earns every point of that price tag. The entire shadow theme gets reworked into this cosmic assassin fantasy. His W shadow looks like a galaxy rift tearing open, the Q shurikens trail purple energy, and the R Death Mark pop has this satisfying burst effect that feels heavier than base. Played maybe 150 games with Galaxy Slayer last season in Diamond and the animations genuinely feel smoother. (Random aside: the recall animation where he slices through dimensions is my favorite recall in the game period.) New voice lines too, and they lean into this arrogant cosmic entity vibe that fits Zed's personality perfectly.

Debonair Zed surprised me. When they announced a suit-wearing Zed I thought it was gonna be a meme skin. Turned out to be a legitimate Legendary with clean animations and a completely different tone. The W shadow shows up in a white suit, the Q throws these crystal-looking projectiles, and his ult has a refined execution animation. Voice lines are smooth and composed. Feels like playing a different character almost. Spammed this in ranked for about three weeks straight when it dropped and the feedback from other players was always "what skin is that." It stands out.

PROJECT: Zed remains a classic pick even now. The cyberpunk aesthetic with the red visor and tech armor still reads well on the Rift. Not a Legendary so you dont get new VO, but the particle effects on his abilities got the full treatment. His E shadow slash has that tech-grid pattern that looks crisp in teamfights. For 1350 RP its hard to beat.

Blood Moon Zed is the sleeper. Kinda feels like this one flew under the radar because it released in a crowded year. The demon mask, the red-and-white color scheme, the Japanese supernatural aesthetic. It fits Zed's ninja theme naturally. The ability VFX lean into that blood-red energy and his shadows have this ghostly quality. Been running this one in my ranked rotation lately and it gets more compliments than skins twice its price.

Empyrean Zed deserves a mention too. The Empyrean line has a unique neon-digital look and on Zed specifically the color palette pops hard during his combos. When you W-E-Q in lane the particle overlap creates this visual burst that just looks clean. Not the deepest skin in terms of changes but the aesthetic cohesion is strong.

Skinlines and Thematic Fits

Zed shows up across a wild range of skinlines. Shockblade, PROJECT, Death Sworn, Odyssey (wait, I need to double check that one), PsyOps, Empyrean, Blood Moon, Immortal Journey, Debonair, World Championship skins. The spread is impressive. Not sure if it's just me but I think the darker themed lines fit Zed the best naturally.

PROJECT is probably the most iconic skinline association for Zed. That cyberpunk ninja fantasy just clicks. The entire PROJECT universe feels like it was built with champions like Zed in mind. Death Sworn also works perfectly because Zed's whole lore is about forbidden shadow magic and death techniques, so leaning into the undead aesthetic feels earned rather than forced.

Blood Moon and Immortal Journey pull from the same cultural well as Zed's base design. Japanese-influenced, supernatural, martial. These arent stretches for the character. They feel like natural extensions of who Zed already is. Debonair is the outlier and I think thats why it works so well. Putting the shadow assassin in a tailored suit creates contrast that makes the skin memorable. Real talk though, the skinlines where Zed fits worst are the ones trying to make him cute or lighthearted. He's an assassin. Lean into it.

(Sidebar for Zed one-tricks: the Worlds skins carry historical weight but visually they're the weakest in the catalog. SKT T1 and Worlds 2016 are nostalgia picks, not quality picks.)

Budget vs Premium: Where to Spend on Zed

The price range runs from 750 RP up to 1820 RP for the Legendaries, with the Mythic skins sitting outside normal purchase routes. If you're climbing ranked and want a solid Zed skin without dropping a full Legendary price, PROJECT: Zed at 1350 is the obvious answer. Best value in the catalog for sure.

Shockblade at 750 RP punches above its weight for a Standard skin. Clean model, lightning effects that still look decent, and the price is basically nothing. For someone who plays Zed occasionally in norms its more than enough. Death Sworn is another solid Epic option with a unique vibe. Not gonna lie, at 1350 RP the Epic tier Zed skins compete well against each other.

But if you main Zed and you're spending real hours on this champion in ranked, Galaxy Slayer at 1820 RP is worth saving for. The animation quality difference between Epic and Legendary is noticeable on a champion like Zed where you're constantly using abilities in quick combos. Every W shadow, every Q, every R pop looks and feels better. Took this into my Diamond promos last Tuesday and the skin confidence boost is real. 1820 RP well spent for mains.

The Mythic options: Prestige PROJECT, Quantum Galaxy Slayer, and Prestige Spirit Blossom are collector pieces. You either have them or you dont. Cant really recommend "buying" them since they come through special event tracks and Hextech crafting. If you rolled one from a chest, congrats. Worth keeping.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many skins does Zed have?

Zed has 14 skins total as of 2025. That includes 3 Standard tier, 6 Epic, 2 Legendary, and 3 Mythic. Pretty stacked catalog for an assassin. Been growing steadily since his 2012 release and Riot shows no signs of slowing down with Zed content. One of the better-supported champions skin-wise.

What is the best Zed skin?

Galaxy Slayer Zed. No contest in my opinion. Legendary tier with completely reworked abilities, new voice lines, cosmic assassin aesthetic that looks incredible during combos. Spammed this one for months and it still feels fresh. Debonair Zed is a solid second pick if you want something different from the edgy vibe.

What is the cheapest Zed skin?

Shockblade Zed at 750 RP is the cheapest you can buy outright. Its his release skin from 2012 and honestly still looks decent. Lightning ninja Zed. Clean model, simple effects. For under 800 RP its a solid pickup if you play Zed casually and dont want to commit Legendary money.

Does Zed have a Legendary skin?

Two Legendaries actually. Galaxy Slayer Zed from 2019 and Debonair Zed from 2021. Both 1820 RP, both with new voice lines and custom animations. Galaxy Slayer leans cosmic assassin, Debonair goes classy villain. Different vibes but both deliver on the Legendary promise. Might be biased but Galaxy Slayer edges it out.

What skinlines is Zed in?

Zed appears across a bunch of lines. Shockblade, PROJECT, Death Sworn, PsyOps, Empyrean, Blood Moon, Immortal Journey, Debonair, and the World Championship lines. PROJECT is probably his most iconic skinline appearance. The darker themed lines tend to fit his assassin fantasy best in my experience.

Does Zed have chromas?

Several of his Epic skins have chromas available. PROJECT: Zed, PsyOps, Empyrean, and Blood Moon all got chroma packs. The Prestige skins are essentially chromas of their base versions in a way. If you want color variety on Zed theres plenty of options across the catalog. Obsidian chromas tend to look cleanest on him.

When was Zed's last skin released?

Quantum Galaxy Slayer Zed in 2025. Mythic tier skin that builds on the Galaxy Slayer universe. Zed gets pretty regular skin releases, rarely goes more than a year without something new. Riot knows he sells well so they keep feeding the Zed mains. Fair enough honestly.

Is Zed worth buying skins for?

If you main Zed or play him regularly in ranked, absolutely. His Legendary skins genuinely feel better to play with because the animation clarity on his combo-heavy kit matters. Even at Epic tier, skins like PROJECT and Blood Moon add enough visual flair to justify the RP. Could be wrong but I think Zed is one of the best champions to invest skin money into.
