Nunu & Willump might be the most slept-on skin catalog in the entire game. Been playing this duo since before the rework and honestly the transformation from old Nunu to the current boy-and-yeti setup changed how every single skin reads. 12 skins total spanning from 2009 to 2024, and the quality gap between the early ones and the recent drops is massive. Some of these are genuine bangers. Some belong in a museum of early Riot art direction. Thats just how it goes with champions who been around since season one.

How the Nunu & Willump Skin Collection Shaped Up

12 skins across 15 years. Five Standards, six Epics, one Legendary. The early stuff like Sasquatch and Workshop came out in 2009 when Riot was still figuring out what a skin even meant. Texture swaps, maybe a recolor. Nothing wild. Grungy dropped around the same era. These skins got updated with the 2018 rework so they look way better than the originals, but they're still simple by modern standards.

The real catalog starts picking up around 2012-2013. TPA Nunu came in as a Worlds skin for the Taipei Assassins championship run. Cool piece of history. Then Riot started taking the duo more seriously with Epic-tier releases. Zombie Nunu landed in 2015 and that was the first time I thought okay, they actually care about making this champion look good.

Not gonna lie, the post-rework skins hit different. Papercraft in 2019, Space Groove in 2021, Nunu & Beelump in 2022. Each one leans into the playful energy of a kid riding a giant monster. Cosmic Paladins and Fright Night rounded things out in 2023 and 2024. Could be wrong here but I think Nunu has one of the more consistent Epic skin lineups in the game right now. Six Epics and most of them actually deliver.

The Legendary - Nunu & Willump Bot - sits at the top. 1820 RP. New voiceover, new animations, the whole package. Released way back in 2013 originally but the rework brought it up to a proper standard. One Legendary for the whole catalog though. Feels like Riot could give them another at some point. (Random thought but a Legendary in the Space Groove universe with full disco Willump would print money.)

Best Nunu & Willump Skins Worth Locking In

Nunu & Willump Bot is the obvious number one. Legendary tier, 1820 RP, and it completely reimagines both characters as robots. Willump becomes this mechanical beast and Nunu is a little pilot. The W rolling snowball turns into a giant metal sphere which looks incredible in teamfights. Q consume has these mechanical jaw animations. Ult channel is where it really shines though - the whole zone goes full sci-fi with particle effects that actually make enemies respect the channel more. Been running this in my Diamond games since season 11 and the skin just commands presence in the jungle.

Zombie Nunu & Willump. 1350 RP Epic. This one surprised me. Willump as a zombie creature with exposed bones and green decay effects. The Q animation where he bites looks genuinely horrifying in a fun way. R channel has this graveyard mist spreading out. Played maybe 40 games with this last October around Halloween and it felt thematic in a way most skins dont manage. The recall animation is chef's kiss.

Space Groove at 1350 RP is the vibes pick. Disco Willump. Funky colors. The W snowball becomes this groovy rolling dance floor situation. Kinda feels like Riot designed this skin while listening to Earth Wind and Fire. E snowball toss has these sparkly disco particles. Lock this one in when you want to tilt the enemy jungler with pure positive energy.

Papercraft deserves the fourth spot. 1350 RP. The entire concept of Willump being made of folded paper is creative and the execution holds up. W snowball is a crumpled paper ball rolling through lane. Subtle but clean. Not the flashiest skin in the catalog but it has this charm that grows on you. Had it in rotation for two seasons straight around 2020.

Nunu & Beelump rounds out the top five. Willump as a giant bee. Nunu in a little beekeeper outfit. 1350 RP. The honey-themed particles on Q and R are satisfying. Might be overthinking it but something about the color palette on this skin makes jungle camps feel cozier to clear. Real niche pick but the Beelump mains are dedicated.

Skinlines and Where Nunu & Willump Fits

The duo shows up across a wild range of skinlines. Zombies VS Slayers, Papercraft, Space Groove, Fables, Toy Box, Rift Quest. Nunu and Willump's core fantasy is a kid and his monster best friend so they slot naturally into playful and whimsical themes. The serious dark skinlines dont really work for them and Riot seems to understand that.

Space Groove might be the best thematic fit. The whole "dancing through the jungle" energy matches how Nunu actually plays on the Rift. You're rolling snowballs, you're ganking with a smile, you're being annoying in the best way possible. Space Groove captures that.

Zombies VS Slayers is the outlier. Taking a wholesome duo and making them undead sounds wrong on paper but Zombie Nunu works because Willump as a zombie is just funny. The contrast carries it. Not sure if it's just me but the horror-cute mashup resonates harder than a straight dark theme would.

Fright Night in 2024 went spooky too. Different angle from Zombie though. More haunted carnival vibes. The Papercraft line is unique to Nunu in terms of how perfectly it translates - a paper yeti just makes sense when your champion is already kinda goofy looking. (Sidebar for jungle mains specifically: Papercraft Nunu has some of the cleanest visual clarity on W hitbox in the entire skin catalog. Actual competitive advantage.)

World Champions 2012 with TPA is a historical piece. Cant buy it regularly. The esports skinlines always carry weight for collectors even when the skins themselves are simple.

Budget Picks vs Going Premium on Nunu & Willump

Price range goes from 520 RP Standards up to 1820 for the Legendary. Real talk though, the value proposition on Nunu is interesting because the Epic skins are so strong that the Legendary doesnt automatically win.

If you're climbing ranked and want one skin, Zombie or Space Groove at 1350 both deliver above their price point. Zombie has better particles, Space Groove has better vibes. Pick your mood. Either way 1350 RP well spent for mains.

Budget option? Grungy Nunu at 520 RP still looks decent post-rework. It's a simple Oscar the Grouch-style recolor but the updated model carries it further than you'd expect. Demolisher at 520 is another cheap option. Neither will blow your mind but for a jungler you might play 2-3 times a month they get the job done.

Nunu & Willump Bot at 1820 is worth it only if you're a dedicated Nunu player. The new VO and animations make a real difference over 100+ games. But if you play him occasionally in your jungle rotation, an Epic skin gives you 80% of the experience for 75% of the price. Spammed both tiers in ranked last split and honestly the Epics feel premium enough. Full Legendary price earns it for one-tricks though.
