First time I saw Gentleman Gnar in a loading screen I actually laughed out loud. Not sure if it’s just me but there’s something about a tiny prehistoric yordle in a top hat and monocle that just works on a level I cant fully explain. Been running this skin on and off since it dropped back in season 5, and it still gets reactions in lobby chat. Solid pick.

What Gentleman Gnar actually brings to the table

So the concept is pretty straightforward. Mini Gnar gets the full gentleman treatment: top hat, bow tie, monocle, the whole Victorian package. The boomerang is replaced with a pipe, which is honestly the best part. Throwing a pipe at people in lane while CSing never gets old. The recall animation has him sitting down for tea. Classy stuff.

VFX got updated for this one which surprised me at 975 RP. The Q toss with the pipe leaves a slightly different trail, and Mega Gnar’s abilities have this refined purple-ish tint to them. Nothing dramatic but noticeable if you’re paying attention. Voice lines stay base, no new VO, which is fair at this price point.

Mega Gnar is where it gets interesting though. The transformation rips through the suit and you get this massive beast still clinging to fragments of formal wear. Played maybe 40 games with this last month in Diamond and the Mega form always catches people off guard in teamfights. Something about the visual contrast between tiny gentleman and raging monster makes the W stun feel more satisfying. Could be wrong here but I think the hitbox reads slightly cleaner in this skin compared to base, probably just placebo.

(Random aside: my duo partner refuses to play with me when I use this skin because he says the pipe sound tilts him. His loss.)

The High Society line and release context

Gentleman Gnar dropped July 14, 2015. Mid season 5. Jean “Curing” Go nailed the splash, capturing mini Gnar looking absolutely distinguished while Mega Gnar looms in the background still wearing the hat. That detail in the splash alone sold me.

Part of the High Society skinline alongside Gentleman Cho’Gath which is the OG of the theme. Gnar fits the concept better than most champions would. The juxtaposition between his feral gameplay and the refined aesthetic creates genuine comedy. Not many skins pull off humor without feeling forced.

No chromas available for this one. Zero. Kinda feels like a missed opportunity honestly, a ruby or obsidian variant could have gone hard. But it is what it is. The base color palette works fine on its own. The purple and grey tones read well against the Rift, especially in bot side jungle fights where the lighting complements the darker suit.

975 RP for a Standard tier skin with new VFX and a custom recall. Shop has it, permanent availability, so no rush. Picked mine up during a sale back around season 7 I think, got it for like 487 RP which was a steal.

Should you grab Gentleman Gnar?

Real verdict: this is one of those skins that punches above its weight class. 975 RP feels fair for what you get. The new VFX, the recall, the whole gentleman concept executed on a champion who transforms into a rage monster. Comedy gold that doesnt wear thin.

If you main Gnar or even just play him in your top lane rotation, this is worth picking up. Astronaut and SSG are solid alternatives if you want something more serious, but Gentleman has personality that those lack. Best humor skin for Gnar full stop.

One thing I will say. Last Tuesday I was in a ranked game where my jungler pinged my skin choice like four times during loading screen. Turns out he was also a Gnar main and said he’d been waiting for this to go on sale for months. We won that game pretty convincingly, the gentleman energy was strong. Small moments like that are why I keep coming back to this one over the flashier options.

Skip it if you only play Mega Gnar for the engage and dont care about aesthetics. But if you appreciate Riot’s humor skins and want something that still looks clean in Diamond lobbies, Gentleman Gnar delivers. 975 RP well spent for mains.
