Guerilla Tristana

First time I saw Guerilla Tristana in a loading screen was back in like season 3, maybe season 4. Some random bot lane Tristana main locked it in and I remember thinking it looked way more grounded than anything else she had at the time. Military camo, serious expression, no goofy yordle energy. Just a tiny soldier with a massive cannon. Been a fan of the concept since.

What Guerilla Tristana actually changes

Real talk though, this is a Standard tier skin at 975 RP so temper expectations. No new VFX on any abilities. Your Q steroid, W Rocket Jump, E Explosive Charge, R Buster Shot – all use base particles. Voice lines stay base. No recall animation either.

What you do get is a full model swap. Tristana trades her default look for military fatigues with a camo pattern. The cannon gets a redesign too, bulkier and more utilitarian looking. Kinda feels like Riot took the yordle and dropped her into a jungle warfare scenario. The helmet alone sells the fantasy. Not gonna lie, for a skin from 2010 the model holds up better than you’d expect. Played maybe 30 games with this one last month in Diamond and the silhouette reads cleanly in teamfights. You still look like Tristana, just the version thats been doing recon behind enemy lines.

The color palette is muted greens and browns. Compared to Rocket Girl or Dragon Trainer where everything is bright and flashy, Guerilla sits on the opposite end. Subtle. Some people want that. In lane specifically I think the darker tones make the auto attack animations slightly harder for enemies to track but could be coping on that one.

The Commando line and release context

Guerilla Tristana dropped August 10, 2010. Early League. The Commando skinline was one of Riot’s first thematic batches and Tristana fit right in. Military aesthetic across multiple champions. Simple concept, clean execution for the era.

Viktor Titov and Grafit Studio handled the splash artwork. They captured the vibe perfectly. Tristana crouching in vegetation with her cannon, ready to engage. The splash honestly carries more weight than the in-game model does. (Random aside: I’ve used this splash as a Discord avatar before, the composition is that clean.)

Legacy vault skin. You cant just walk into the shop and grab it. Hextech only these days, or wait for one of those rare vault openings Riot does around events. Seen maybe two of these in my ranked games all season. Most Tristana mains run Dragon Trainer or Firefighter so when you do pull Guerilla from a chest it actually stands out in champ select.

Should you pick up Guerilla Tristana?

Verdict time. 975 RP is the price tag but since its Legacy you’re not choosing to buy it so much as choosing to keep it if you roll it. And honestly? Keep it. Could be wrong here but I think the military yordle fantasy hasnt been done better on Tristana. Omega Squad exists sure but thats a different vibe entirely, more sci-fi tactical ops than jungle guerilla.

For Tristana mains who want something understated, something that doesn’t scream “look at my skin” in every teamfight on the Rift, this works. No new VO, no chromas, no flashy recall. Just the model swap and the attitude. Been running this in solo queue when I want to focus on cs and lane prio without visual distractions from my own skin.

Skip it if you need ability VFX changes or a peel-back recall animation. But if you’re the type who respects older League cosmetics and you get Guerilla Tristana from a chest around 2 AM on a Tuesday night – hold onto it. The Commando line deserves a spot in your collection. Fair price for the package, even if you never get to choose when you acquire it.
