Spirit Blossom Yone

Kinda feels like Spirit Blossom Yone is the default Yone skin at this point. He launched alongside the Spirit Blossom event on August 6, 2020 and this was literally his release skin, the first skin he ever had besides base. Played my first maybe 80 or 90 games on him with Spirit Blossom equipped before I even looked at what default Yone actually looked like. Weird way to learn a champion but it worked out fine.

What Spirit Blossom does to Yone’s kit

The model is gorgeous. Full stop. Yone trades the vengeful swordsman look for this ethereal white and pink aesthetic – flowing garments, cherry blossom petals drifting off him during movement, the whole thing. The mask got redesigned too, more ornamental, more spirit realm. Bo “chenbowow” Chen did the splash art and honestly its one of my favorite splashes in the game. Yone mid-stride with blossoms swirling around the blade. Clean composition.

Ability VFX lean into the floral theme hard. His Q, Mortal Steel, sends out a pink-white slash with petal particles on each stack. The third Q tornado has blossom trails that I think read slightly cleaner than base in messy teamfights around dragon pit. Not gonna claim it gives you a competitive edge but the knockup indicator is visually distinct against most ground textures.

W, Spirit Cleave, pops with a burst of pink energy when the shield procs. Fine. But his E, Soul Unbound, is where this skin earns the price tag. When Yone leaves his body the spirit form gets this glowing translucent effect with petals trailing behind every step. Snapping back after a trade in bot lane specifically feels cinematic every time. Hit a 3-man ult into E snapback last Friday around midnight and the entire enemy backline just evaporated. My duo partner screamed. (Random aside: I clipped it and its been my Discord profile video for like two weeks now.)

The recall has Yone sitting down to meditate with petals falling around him. Peaceful. Pretty ironic for a champion whose entire gameplay loop is diving into people and killing them before they can react.

Eight chromas and the Spirit Blossom skinline

Spirit Blossom Yone comes with 8 chromas if you count all of them: Ruby, Aquamarine, Catseye, Emerald, Rose Quartz, Tanzanite, Night Blossom, and Obsidian. Night Blossom is the standout and it is not close. Flips the palette to dark blue and white, almost like a moonlit version of the skin. Looks like a completely different product. Obsidian goes full dark which Yone mains seem to prefer because it matches the edgy swordsman fantasy better than pink cherry blossoms do.

This Epic skin released August 6, 2020 as part of the Spirit Blossom skinline at 1350 RP. The Spirit Blossom line is one of Riot’s best event lines – includes Thresh, Ahri, Lillia, Vayne, and others. Yone fits right in thematically. Still available in the shop, been there since launch.

Should you spend 1350 RP on this

If you play Yone at all then yes. Not sure if it’s just me but Spirit Blossom Yone feels like his best skin even with Battle Academia and Dawnbringer in the catalog now. There’s this visual cohesion across the whole kit that the other skins dont quite match. Every ability feels connected to the theme instead of just being a recolor with some new particles slapped on.

At 1350 RP with 8 chromas available you get a lot of mileage out of this purchase. Know a Yone one-trick in my ranked games who rotates between Night Blossom and Obsidian depending on his mood that day. Been sticking with the default Spirit Blossom colors myself because the pink cherry blossom particles on the ult just look right. You know what I mean? Some skins you equip and never think about again. This one feels like it was designed alongside the champion. Because it literally was.
