First game I played with PsyOps Samira was the night she dropped, September 21, 2020. Locked her in blind pick at like 1 AM, no idea what the kit even did yet. The skin sold the fantasy before I even understood the champion. Military tactical operative with psychic energy flowing through every ability. Felt like a movie character from frame one.

What PsyOps Samira actually brings to the table

So the VFX on this skin are clean. Q pops with this orange-gold psychic energy that reads way better than base Samira’s particles in a messy teamfight. Not gonna lie, the auto attacks have a crispness to them that I swear makes csing feel smoother, though thats probably placebo. The W windwall spins with that same golden energy trail, and it catches attention in lane. Your support knows you mean business.

Recall animation is where Riot put in real effort. Samira does this tactical combat sequence, all military precision with the psychic flair. Been running this in Diamond for a couple seasons now and the recall still doesnt get old. Small thing but it matters when you’re backing after shoving a wave under tower for the 50th time in a session.

Voice lines stay base. No new VO here which is expected for an Epic tier skin at 1350 RP. Samira’s default lines carry enough personality honestly. The kit itself just looks different – E dash leaves a sharper trail, R Death Lotus equivalent shreds with those golden projectiles spiraling out. In a full 5v5 teamfight with your passive stacked to S rank, the ult VFX pop hard. Played maybe 40 games last week in bot lane specifically and the ult visuals never blend into the background.

Could be wrong here but I think the auto attack sounds hit slightly different too. Meatier. The whole package reads as a spec-ops agent channeling telekinetic power through her guns and blade.

The PsyOps line and release context

PsyOps Samira dropped September 21, 2020. Jennifer Wuestling nailed the splash – Samira mid-combat with that confident smirk, psychic energy crackling around her weapons. The Black Rose Group skinline ties her into this covert military aesthetic alongside PsyOps Shen, Viktor, Ezreal, and others. Samira fits the vibe naturally. She’s already this fearless gunslinger who dives the backline, so giving her black ops tactical gear and golden psionic energy just works.

(Random aside: Jennifer Wuestling’s portfolio is stacked, but this particular splash might be the one that sold me on Samira as a champion before I even played her.)

8 chromas total for this one. Obsidian is my personal pick – goes full dark operative, strips the gold for shadow tones and it reads so clean against the Rift. Ruby runs the classic red military vibe, sharp. Amethyst pushes into purple territory which kinda feels like it belongs in a different skinline entirely but some people swear by it. Shop has it permanently, 1350 RP, standard Epic pricing.

Should you pick up PsyOps Samira?

Real verdict: this was Samira’s launch skin. Literally the first skin she ever got. And Riot did not phone it in. For an Epic at 1350 RP the value is solid. New VFX across the board, clean recall, model that actually transforms her silhouette into something distinct from base.

The competition now is tougher though. High Noon Samira exists. Space Groove Samira exists. If you main Samira and want the tactical military fantasy, PsyOps is the only option that delivers it. Been daily driving this over High Noon for about three weeks now in my Diamond games and I keep coming back. The VFX clarity during her passive combo and ult is genuinely better for tracking your style rank in chaotic engage scenarios.

Maybe just my experience but ADC mains who play aggressive – the ones who dash into the enemy team at level 6 looking for the pentakill angle – this skin rewards that playstyle visually. Every ability combo feels like it has weight. 1350 RP feels fair for what you get. Skip it if you already own High Noon and dont play Samira enough to justify two skins. But for Samira one-tricks? Top pick. Season 10 energy in a bottle, and it still holds up five years later. Worth it.
