Prestige Battle Academia Qiyana

First game I loaded into with Prestige Battle Academia Qiyana, my support pinged my skin three times in fountain. Not sure if it’s just me but there’s something about Prestige skins that makes your team play around you more. Placebo probably. Either way this Qiyana variant caught me off guard when it dropped March 19, 2025. Been maining Qiyana on and off since her release and I already had the base Battle Academia version, so picking this up felt like a no-brainer. The gold and white color scheme hits clean against the Rift.

VFX and what Prestige actually changes

So the big question with any Prestige skin: does it feel different enough from the base version? Honest answer here, yeah it does. The VFX overhaul gives Qiyana’s abilities a warm golden particle set that reads way better than the standard Battle Academia purple. Her Q especially stands out. Each element pickup – rock, water, brush – gets that prestige shimmer layered on top. Rock Q has this dense amber impact effect, water Q trails golden sparkles, and brush Q leaves behind a faint gilded mist.

W element swaps feel snappier visually. Could be wrong here but I think the transition particles are slightly more pronounced than base Battle Academia. Makes it easier to track which element you’re holding in a hectic teamfight, which for Qiyana is actually gameplay-relevant. You need to know what your Q is loaded with when you’re diving the backline at Mach speed.

R is where the skin earns its keep. The ult shockwave pushes out golden energy that ripples across terrain. Played maybe 40 games with this skin since it dropped and every single river ult in dragon pit looks cinematic. Trapped their Yone in baron pit last Thursday around midnight and the wall stun VFX just popped off. Beautiful stuff.

The recall animation is new too. Standard voice lines though, no VO refresh. Qiyana keeps her base voice which is fine honestly because Montse Hernandez already killed it with the original performance. (Random aside: Qiyana’s voice lines are some of the most quotable in the game and I will die on that hill.)

Battle Academia line and the Prestige treatment

Battle Academia as a skinline has been one of Riot’s more consistent themes. The anime school setting works for champions with big personalities and Qiyana fits that mold perfectly. She already acts like shes the main character of every game she’s in, so slapping a school uniform on her and calling it canon just makes sense.

Marie Magny and West Studio handled the splash art. They captured this confident pose that reads immediately as Qiyana even at thumbnail size. The golden accents in the splash translate well to the in-game model which isnt always the case with Prestige skins. Season 13 had a few Prestige releases where the splash promised one thing and the model delivered something flatter. Not the case here.

This is a Mythic tier skin with Special pricing, meaning you’re not just dropping RP in the shop for it. Availability is permanent through the Mythic shop rotation. Real talk though, the grind or the Mythic Essence cost is the real price tag. Whether thats worth it depends on how much Qiyana you actually play.

No chromas on this one, which tracks for Prestige skins. The whole point is the exclusive colorway so adding chromas would dilute that.

How it plays in ranked

Took this into Diamond ranked for about two weeks straight after release. Qiyana’s kit is all about quick combos and roaming, and the golden VFX dont create any visual clutter that messes with your gameplay. Some skins genuinely make it harder to play because particles obscure hitboxes or blend into certain terrain. Prestige Battle Academia Qiyana avoids that problem. The Q projectiles read cleanly against every map segment.

Might be overthinking it but I feel like the auto attack animation feels slightly smoother on this skin compared to base. Probably identical frame data but the visual weight of the gold particles on her blade gives better feedback on cs timing. Been averaging maybe 8-9 cs per minute on Qiyana mid with this skin which is about my normal, so its not actually changing anything mechanically. Just feels right.

Lane prio with Qiyana is all about hitting level 3 and looking for the all-in or the roam. This skin makes your E dash look flashier which has zero competitive value but does make the engage feel more satisfying. Small things matter when you’re spamming 6 games in a row on a Friday night.

The honest take

Prestige Battle Academia Qiyana is arguably the best Qiyana skin if you value the clean aesthetic over flashy themes. Shockblade Qiyana exists and that’s solid competition, but the Prestige version has a premium feel that Shockblade can’t match. The golden VFX are distinct without being distracting. The splash is strong. The recall is fun.

Skip this unless you actually play Qiyana regularly. Mythic Essence is a limited resource and burning it on a champion you lock in twice a season is a waste. But for Qiyana mains and one-tricks? First choice. The skin earns its Mythic status through consistent quality across VFX, model, and splash rather than any single standout feature. Been daily driving this since week one and I dont see myself switching back to base Battle Academia any time soon. That ranked game where my Kayn inted four kills pre-6 and I still carried the teamfight at drake – Prestige Battle Academia Qiyana looked immaculate doing it.
