Marauder Kled

First time I locked in Marauder Kled was around 2 AM on a weeknight, season 11 had just started and I was grinding ranked placements. The loading screen splash hit me immediately. Kled looks unhinged in the best way possible, full dark-fantasy warlord energy with Skaarl decked out in heavy plate armor. Been running this skin on and off since it dropped and honestly it holds up way better than I expected for 1350 RP.

What Marauder Kled actually changes

So the Marauder line takes Kled out of his usual Noxian hillbilly aesthetic and drops him into this corrupted knight fantasy. Skaarl gets this sick blackened armor with glowing red accents, and Kled himself looks like he raided a dark lord’s wardrobe. The model work is solid. Not gonna lie, the red and black color scheme reads really clean on the Rift, especially during teamfights where you need to track your engage.

VFX got the full treatment here. Q on Skaarl throws out this dark energy tether that feels heavier than base. The W proc hits have red particle trails that look satisfying when you’re running someone down in lane. Kled’s dismounted Q fires these red throwing knives with a darker trail. Could be wrong here but I think the E dash particles are some of the cleanest in his skin lineup, this dark red swoosh that makes your engage look way more threatening.

R is where it gets fun. Chaaaaarge gets this ominous red trail behind Skaarl, and the impact zone has these dark Marauder sigils. Played maybe 40 games with this skin in Diamond last season and the ult still looks intimidating every time. The recall animation is new too, Kled plants a Marauder banner while Skaarl chomps on something. Short and aggressive, fits the character.

Voice lines stay base, no new VO. Thats fine honestly because Kled’s base voice acting by Spike Spencer is already top tier. The guy sounds completely unhinged and it works perfectly with the darker visual direction.

The Marauder skinline and release details

Marauder Kled released January 7, 2021. Early season 11. Rudy Siswanto nailed the splash, the composition puts Skaarl front and center charging into battle with Kled screaming on top. Classic Kled energy.

The Marauder line is one of Riot’s older thematic sets that got a refresh around this time. Kled fits naturally into the Marauder fantasy because he’s already this aggressive warmongering yordle. The skin doesn’t have to stretch the character concept at all, it just puts him in darker armor and cranks up the menace factor. The Marauder roster includes champions like Kalista and Xin Zhao from the same batch, but I think Kled got the best treatment of the group.

8 chromas total for Marauder Kled. Obsidian leans into the dark aesthetic even harder, almost all-black Skaarl which looks premium. Sapphire is my personal go-to because the blue armor plating against the dark base creates this contrast that pops in game. Ruby is the expected red variant but it kinda blends with the base skin’s red accents so I’d skip it. (Random aside: the Citrine chroma makes Skaarl look like a golden war mount and I’ve seen exactly one person use it in my games all season.)

Is Marauder Kled worth 1350 RP?

Real verdict: this is a strong Epic tier skin. 1350 RP feels fair for what you get. New model, new VFX across all abilities, new recall. No new voice lines but again, base Kled VO is already perfect so it doesnt matter.

Kled mains have a small pool to pick from. Sir Kled is the joke skin, Count Kledula is the Halloween option, Kibble-Head is the goofy one. Marauder Kled is the only “serious” skin in the lineup if you want your champion to look like an actual threat. Been maining Kled with this skin through Diamond for two splits now and I keep coming back to it over the alternatives.

Might be overthinking it but I think the darker color palette actually helps with gameplay readability too. The red VFX on Q and E make your engage patterns clearer to track, which matters when you’re diving the backline pre-6 or looking for flanks in the mid game. Shop has it, permanent availability, grab a chroma if you want variety.

Skip this only if you genuinely prefer the comedic Kled skins. For anyone who wants Kled to look like the terrifying lane bully he actually is in ranked, Marauder is the pick. Top choice for Kled mains, period. 1350 RP well spent, especially if you one-trick him and need something that doesnt get old after 200 games of spamming W resets and screaming at your jungler for ganks.
