First game I played with Fright Night Nautilus was around 2 AM on a Tuesday, queued into a Diamond ranked lobby. Locked it in blind because the splash sold me immediately. Nautilus already feels like a horror movie character with that deep sea diver aesthetic, and this skin just leans all the way into it. Creepy scarecrow energy. The kind of skin where you hook someone from fog of war and they probably flinch in real life.

What the skin actually changes on Nautilus

So the model itself turns Nautilus into this haunted pumpkin-headed scarecrow thing. Tattered cloak, jack-o-lantern vibes on the helmet, the anchor looks like it was pulled out of a cursed barn. Honestly not gonna lie, the silhouette reads different enough that I had to double-take the first time I saw one in my games.

VFX got a full rework for this Epic tier. Q hook trails this ghostly orange mist that looks genuinely unsettling on the Rift. W shield has a spectral flame effect wrapping around the model. E ripples come out as these pumpkin-patch ground cracks, very Halloween. The ult is the real star though. That depth charge rolling toward someone now looks like a haunted spirit chasing them down. Played maybe 40 games with this skin and the R still gets me every time.

New recall animation too. Nautilus does this whole scarecrow-coming-to-life thing. Solid work.

Voice lines stay base. No VO refresh on this one, which is standard for 1350 RP. Could be wrong here but I think Nautilus base voice fits the horror vibe well enough that it doesnt feel like a miss.

The Fright Night line and where this fits

Released September 22, 2022. Late into season 12, right before the Worlds patch if I remember correctly. Ina Wong and West Studio handled the artwork, and they cooked on this one. The splash captures the whole Tim Burton nightmare aesthetic the Fright Night skinline goes for.

Fright Night as a line dropped alongside Draven, Trundle, and some others. Nautilus fits the theme better than most of them I think. The bulky frame translates naturally into a lumbering scarecrow monster. Fright Night Draven is cool but Nautilus just makes more sense for horror.

8 chromas total for this skin. Obsidian is my personal pick, turns the whole thing dark and menacing, almost like a shadow version of the scarecrow. Tanzanite hits hard too with that deep purple palette, reads like a proper witch-hour aesthetic. Rose Quartz is the wildcard, pink scarecrow Nautilus is a statement for sure. (Random aside: my duo partner uses Rose Quartz unironically and swears it tilts the enemy bot lane.)

Still in the shop at 1350 RP. Permanent availability so no rush, but if you’re eyeing Halloween season to pick up a skin this is the obvious choice for Nautilus mains.

Should you buy Fright Night Nautilus?

Real verdict: this is top pick for Nautilus mains who want something with personality. Been running this in ranked for multiple seasons now and I keep coming back to it over Astronautilus which was my previous go-to. The VFX clarity is solid, nothing obscures your gameplay, and the Q hook animation reads clean enough that you’re not losing any visual info in teamfights.

1350 RP feels fair for what you get. New VFX, new recall, strong model redesign. For an Epic skin this checks every box. The Fright Night theme gives Nautilus a completely different identity compared to his other skins, which mostly lean into the deep sea or space angle. Kinda feels like Riot understood that a giant anchor-wielding titan belongs in a horror lineup.

If you play Nautilus support or jungle and you want the skin that makes people respect your engage before you even throw Q, this is it. Spammed this in Diamond through all of season 13 and into 14. Best executed skin in the Fright Night set. Skip it only if you already own Conqueror Nautilus and can’t justify another purchase, but even then, the peel potential feels scarier on this one. Not in gameplay terms obviously, just the vibe. Three things stood out across hundreds of games: ult VFX, the model silhouette, and how clean Obsidian chroma looks at night maps. Worth every RP for Nautilus one-tricks.
