Not gonna lie, when Elderwood Ahri first showed up on PBE back in August 2019 I thought it looked too good for a 1350 RP skin. Played maybe 40 games with it that first week on live. The fantasy of Ahri as this ancient forest spirit just works on a level most Epic skins dont reach. Something about the tails turning into these branching, leaf-covered extensions hit different compared to her usual fox-spirit look.

What the Elderwood theme changes on Ahri

The model rework is where this skin earns its price. Ahri’s outfit shifts to this bark-and-leaf armor with antler-like horns, and her tails get this gorgeous gradient from dark wood tones into bright autumn leaves at the tips. Massive visual shift from base.

VFX got a full pass. Her Q orb becomes this swirling cluster of leaves and golden light, easy to track in teamfights but visually distinct enough that you wont confuse it with base. W foxfires turn into floating wisps, these little nature spirits that orbit her before homing in. Kinda feels like they gave each wisp its own personality. E charm is a burst of petals and pollen, and I think the hitbox actually reads cleaner on this skin than default, though thats probably placebo from spamming it in Diamond for two seasons straight.

R dashes leave trails of scattered leaves on the ground. Simple change – huge impact. You feel faster even though nothing mechanical changed. The recall animation has Ahri sitting on a tree stump while woodland creatures gather around her, very Studio Ghibli energy. Voice lines stay base, no new VO, but honestly the existing lines fit the forest vibe well enough.

(Random aside: my duo partner refuses to play with me when I use this skin because “the leaf particles lag his toaster.” Been hearing that complaint since 2019 and I still dont care.)

The Elderwood line and where Ahri fits

Elderwood as a skinline is one of Riot’s more consistent themes. Bard, Hecarim, Veigar, Ornn – they all share this ancient forest aesthetic that feels cohesive without being identical. Ahri dropped into the line August 29, 2019, mid-season 9 if I remember right. She fits naturally because the charm-based kit translates well into fae magic.

Alvin Lee nailed the splash. The composition puts Ahri center frame with these massive glowing tails fanning out behind her, deep forest backdrop with shafts of light cutting through. Been my loading screen flex for a while.

9 chromas total for this one. Obsidian is my go-to, turns the whole palette dark with these deep emerald accents that read clean against the Rift. Amethyst pushes into a purple mystical direction that honestly looks like it could be its own standalone skin. The Ahri-versary chroma came later as a special release, blue and red combo thats pretty unique in the set. Could be wrong here but I think Ruby is the weakest of the bunch, too close to autumn base colors to feel worth swapping.

Is Elderwood Ahri worth 1350 RP?

Real verdict: this is a top-tier Epic. 1350 RP feels fair for what you get. New VFX on every ability, clean recall, strong model changes. For Ahri mains specifically you know the competition is stiff. K/DA exists. Spirit Blossom exists. Coven exists. But Elderwood occupies its own lane, no pop star fantasy, no dark magic angle, just pure enchanted forest energy.

Shop has it, permanent availability, so no rush. Been daily driving this in ranked since around last November and I keep coming back even after trying newer releases. If you play Ahri in any comp where you’re looking for picks in the mid game, the E particles on this skin genuinely feel satisfying to land. Locked in a Katarina with it last week near dragon pit, the petal burst on charm contact is just chef’s kiss.

Skip it if you already own Spirit Blossom and only want one Ahri skin. But if you main her and rotate cosmetics between games, Elderwood deserves a slot. S-tier Ahri cosmetic, maybe not the absolute best, but firmly in the conversation. Three things stood out across 200+ games: ult trails, charm VFX, and the recall. That’s enough for me.
