Deep Terror Thresh

First time I saw Deep Terror Thresh loading in, I thought someone modded Thresh into a Lovecraft game. Full Cthulhu vibes. Tentacles everywhere, that greenish deep-sea color palette, and the lantern looks like something you’d find in a sunken ship. Been running this in Diamond for years on and off and it still holds up surprisingly well for a 2013 skin.

What the skin actually changes on Thresh

Not gonna lie, for a Standard tier skin at 975 RP this one punches above its weight class. Thresh gets a complete model overhaul that turns him into some kind of deep-sea horror. The chains look like barnacle-covered anchor links. His hook on Q has this murky underwater feel to it, the particles read slightly different in lane which threw me off the first few games I played against it.

The recall animation is a nice touch. Thresh pulls something up from the depths. Simple change – huge impact on the fantasy. VFX got tweaked too, everything leans into that ocean floor aesthetic. Voice lines stay base, no new VO, but honestly the original Thresh voice works perfectly with the deep-sea look. Something about that echo fits the underwater vibe naturally.

Could be wrong here but I think the flay (E) particles look slightly thicker than base? Might just be the color shift messing with my perception. Either way in teamfights the abilities read cleanly. Had a ranked game last Thursday where I landed maybe 7 hooks in lane phase and the enemy Lucian rage quit before 15 minutes. The Q animation on this skin just feels crispy to me.

The Forgotten Depths line and release history

Deep Terror Thresh dropped January 23, 2013. Early season 3. Christian Fell nailed the splash art, that underwater scene with Thresh dragging souls into the abyss is genuinely unsettling. The Forgotten Depths skinline is one of Riot’s more underrated thematic lines. Thresh fits the ocean horror concept better than most champions in the roster honestly.

Forgotten Depths doesnt get enough love from Riot. Two or three skins in the whole line I think? Shame because the aesthetic is strong. (Random aside: the splash has been my Discord avatar for like two years and people keep asking what game its from.) No chromas available for this one which is expected given how old it is. Still in the shop if you want to pick it up.

Should you grab Deep Terror Thresh?

Real verdict: for 975 RP this is one of the better value Thresh skins. Overpriced? No. You get new model, VFX changes, and a recall animation. Thats more than some 975 skins deliver. If you main Thresh and you want something different from the base look without dropping Legendary money on Dark Star or Pulsefire, Deep Terror is solid.

Best pick for Thresh mains who like the horror fantasy over the flashy cosmic stuff. Been spamming this in my support games since around season 10 I think and keep coming back to it. The hook animations, the peel setup in teamfights, the whole engage package just looks right on this skin. Skip it if you already own High Noon or Dark Star, but for the price point? Hard to argue against 975 RP here.
