Jax Skins
16 skins availableJax is one of those champions where the skin catalog tells you exactly how long Riot has been iterating on the same lamppost joke. Been maining him on and off since season 3, and I think his collection is weirdly underrated for a champion with 16 skins spanning 2010 to 2024. Some of these are genuinely clean. Others feel like Riot forgot he existed for a year and rushed something out. Not gonna lie, the spread from 520 RP throwaways to a full Legendary at 1820 gives you options at every budget, and thats rare for a bruiser this old.

How Jax's Skin Collection Shaped Up Over the Years
Sixteen skins. For a champion released in 2009, that number feels about right. Maybe even a little low compared to someone like Lux or Ezreal, but Jax isnt exactly the poster child Riot slaps on every event pass. His earliest skins dropped around 2010 and 2011, back when "new skin" meant a texture swap and maybe a different weapon model. Angler Jax is from 2010 and it shows. The Mighty Jax, Vandal Jax, those early ones are all Standard tier and priced accordingly.
The tier breakdown tells the story pretty clearly: nine Standard skins, four Epics, one Legendary, and two Mythics. Heavy on the budget end. Could be wrong here but I think Riot only started giving Jax serious cosmetic attention around 2018 with God Staff. Before that it was mostly novelty skins and esports tie-ins.
The jump from Temple Jax era to God Staff era is wild. Night and day in terms of production quality. Played both back to back last season and the difference in particle work alone made me never touch Temple again. (Random thought: Temple Jax splash art looked way better in my memory than it actually does now.) Then Mecha Kingdoms dropped in 2020 as his first and only Legendary and honestly it set a bar that none of the Epics have matched since.
Two Mythic skins in the roster. Neo PAX Jax and Prestige Conqueror Jax. Both special acquisition, neither sitting in the shop. That gives the collection some actual rarity, which matters if you care about flexing in the loading screen. Most Jax players I run into in Diamond are either rocking God Staff or Mecha Kingdoms. Seen maybe five Neo PAX skins total across all my ranked games this split.
Best Skins for Jax
Mecha Kingdoms Jax is the easy number one pick. Full stop. Legendary tier at 1820 RP and it earns every point. New voice lines, completely reworked animations, the W auto-reset feels crisper somehow even though thats probably placebo. The recall animation where he summons the mech is one of the best in the game. Been spamming this in Diamond since it dropped back in January 2020 and I still havent gotten bored of it. The Q leap has this satisfying mechanical crunch on landing. His E Counter Strike spins with these energy shields instead of the base twirl. Ult proc on the third hit has a distinct visual pop that actually helps you track your passive in teamfights.
God Staff Jax sits at number two. Epic tier, 1350 RP. The golden staff with celestial VFX just works. Kinda feels like this is what Jax would look like if Riot designed him today instead of 2009. Clean ability particles, the E has this ripple effect, and the splash is genuinely top tier. Been my go-to Jax skin when I want something flashy without the Legendary price tag. Perfect for ranked, no visual clutter to distract you.
Third spot goes to Conqueror Jax. Another Epic at 1350. The red and gold esports theme fits a bruiser who literally walks into five people and starts swinging. Released for MSI if I remember right. The VFX lean warm tones, lots of red particles on the W and ult proc. Solid skin. Not spectacular but solid.
Prestige Conqueror Jax takes the base Conqueror and goes white-gold. Mythic tier, special acquisition only. Honestly not gonna lie, the Prestige version looks better than the base Conqueror in every way. The white and gold palette reads cleaner on the Rift, especially in river fights where the green background makes the gold pop. If you managed to grab this during the event, lucky you.
Neo PAX Jax deserves a mention for the flex factor alone. Mythic rarity. The original PAX Jax was a convention exclusive from like 2010 and Neo PAX was Riot's way of giving people a version they could actually obtain through Hextech crafting back in 2017 or so. The cardboard tube weapon is iconic. Not the best looking skin objectively but the status symbol aspect carries it hard in loading screen. (Sidebar for old-school Jax mains: you know the feeling when someone on your team has this skin and you just know they've been playing since beta.)
Skinlines and Themes That Fit Jax
Jax shows up in a bunch of skinlines but not all of them land equally. Immortal Journey is where God Staff lives and it fits perfectly. The whole "ancient warrior with divine power" angle matches his lore as the last weapons master of Icathia. Mecha Kingdoms pulls from the same power fantasy but goes sci-fi instead of mythological. Both work because Jax is fundamentally about "guy who hits things really hard" and both skinlines give him cooler things to hit with.
The Warden skinline gave us Warden Jax which is fine. Armored sentinel aesthetic. Nothing wrong with it but nothing exciting either. Standard tier pricing and it shows. The World Champions 2013 line produced SKT T1 Jax, which is cool for historical reasons. Faker's team winning Worlds, commemorated on a Jax skin. The actual model is dated though. Season 3 production values.
Then there's the novelty stuff. Day Job gave us Angler Jax where he's fishing with a rod. Winter Sports, Vandal, these early skinlines were more "funny concept" than "thematic universe." The Mighty Jax has him swinging a chicken leg or something, cant remember the exact weapon. These skins have charm in a retro way but they're not what you lock in when you want to look serious in your promos. Real talk though, I respect anyone who runs Angler Jax in ranked. That's confidence.
PROJECT is his newest skinline addition from 2024. The cybernetic aesthetic works well with his auto-attack focused kit. Lots of sharp particle effects on the W and passive procs.
Budget Picks vs Premium for Jax
The nine Standard tier skins range from 520 to 975 RP. At the budget end, Jaximus is probably the best value. Different model, cool arena gladiator vibe, and it's 975 RP. For a skin from 2012 it holds up surprisingly well. Temple Jax is another decent budget option if you like the monk aesthetic.
At the premium end you're looking at four Epics and one Legendary. God Staff at 1350 is the best bang for your buck in the entire collection. Might be the single best value Jax skin period. You get meaningful VFX changes on every ability, a great splash, and it doesn't cost Legendary money. If you only buy one Jax skin ever, God Staff is it.
Mecha Kingdoms at 1820 is for the dedicated mains. Full Legendary treatment with new VO, animations, the works. Worth 1820 if Jax is your main champion and you play him 200+ games a season. If you pick him once every three weeks in flex queue, God Staff will serve you just fine for 470 RP less. Thing is, the Legendary price feels justified here because the skin actually changes how the champion feels to play. The auto attacks have weight. Had this skin in rotation since season 10 and keep coming back to it.
Skip the sub-750 RP skins unless you're collecting. Vandal Jax and Angler Jax are basically chromas by modern standards. No VFX changes, minimal model work. They exist for completionists and people who think the fishing rod is funny. Fair enough on that second point.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many skins does Jax have?
Jax has 16 skins total as of 2024. That includes nine Standard tier, four Epics, one Legendary (Mecha Kingdoms), and two Mythics (Neo PAX and Prestige Conqueror). Decent spread for an OG champion. Not the biggest collection but definitely not neglected either. Been around since 2010 with Angler Jax all the way to PROJECT: Jax in 2024.
What is the best Jax skin?
Mecha Kingdoms Jax. Not even close. Full Legendary with new VO, reworked animations, incredible recall. Played maybe 300 games with it and the Q landing still feels satisfying. If budget matters, God Staff Jax at 1350 RP is the best Epic option. Clean VFX, great splash art. Either one is a strong lock-in for ranked.
What is the cheapest Jax skin?
Several Jax skins sit at 520 RP, including Vandal Jax and Angler Jax. These are texture swaps basically. No new VFX or animations. Jaximus at 975 is the cheapest skin that actually feels like a meaningfully different experience. The gladiator model is solid for the price and holds up better than you'd expect from 2012.
Does Jax have a Legendary skin?
Yeah, one Legendary. Mecha Kingdoms Jax at 1820 RP. Dropped January 2020. New voice lines, completely new animations, mech-themed VFX on every ability. The auto-attack chain feels different, the E Counter Strike looks sick with energy shields. Worth the full Legendary price if you main him. Spammed it in ranked since release, still my default.
What skinlines is Jax in?
Jax appears in Immortal Journey (God Staff), Mecha Kingdoms, PROJECT, Warden, Vandal, PAX, World Champions 2013 (SKT T1), and a few novelty lines like Day Job and Winter Sports. Immortal Journey and Mecha Kingdoms fit him best. The ancient warrior and mech pilot fantasies both work for a champion whos all about hitting things harder than anyone else.
Does Jax have chromas?
Some of his newer skins do. God Staff, Conqueror, and the more recent releases have chroma options. The older Standard tier skins from 2010-2013 don't have any chromas. Honestly the base God Staff colors are already perfect so I never felt the need to grab chromas for it. Your call though, some of them look clean.
When was Jax's last skin released?
PROJECT: Jax in 2024. The cybernetic line fits his auto-attack playstyle pretty well. Sharp particle effects on the W proc and passive hits. Before that was Empyrean Jax. Riot's been keeping him in the rotation more consistently these last few years compared to the drought between like 2015 and 2018 when mains had basically nothing new to look forward to.
Is Jax worth buying skins for?
If you play him regularly, absolutely. Jax is one of those champions who never really falls out of the meta completely. He's always at least viable for climbing in solo queue. God Staff at 1350 is the safe pick. Mecha Kingdoms at 1820 if you're a dedicated main. The champion's been relevant in ranked for years and probably will stay that way. Good investment.
