Locked in True Damage Qiyana for the first time back in late 2019 and I remember thinking Riot finally gave her a skin that matched her attitude. The base Qiyana design is already dripping with personality but something about the streetwear aesthetic just clicks. Not gonna lie, I queued up like 15 games in a row that first weekend.
What True Damage Qiyana actually brings to the table
So this is an Epic tier skin at 1350 RP, which means you get new VFX and a new recall but voice lines stay base. No new VO refresh. For what it is though, the visual package hits hard.
The Q particles are probably the biggest upgrade. Each element swap gets its own color treatment that reads way cleaner than base Qiyana in a teamfight. Rock element has this deep bass-inspired ripple effect, water gets neon blue streaks, and brush element goes full green with musical note particles scattered through. Playing around dragon pit last Tuesday I actually noticed the element indicators pop better against the Rift terrain than her default skin. Small thing but it matters when you’re trying to track your element mid-engage.
Her W dash leaves behind these sound wave trails. Clean effect. The E is subtle but the impact frame has a beat-drop flash that wasnt in base. R is where the skin earns its keep though. Supreme Display of Talent already has one of the most satisfying ults in the game and the True Damage version adds this shockwave bass effect on the wall slam. Been spamming this in Diamond and the number of times I’ve caught their backline with a river Q into R combo and the VFX just made it feel twice as impactful. Could be wrong here but I think the ult wall even has tiny speaker icons embedded in the texture.
The recall animation is a whole vibe. Qiyana pulls out her phone, takes a selfie, does a little pose. Fits the character perfectly. (Random aside: I’ve seen people flash the recall in lane just to BM after a solo kill and honestly respect it every time.)
The True Damage line and where this skin sits
True Damage dropped November 10, 2019. Right in the middle of Worlds season hype. The whole skinline was Riot’s second music group after K/DA, featuring Qiyana alongside Yasuo, Ekko, Senna, and Akali. Qiyana was the face of the group basically. Atey Ghailan nailed the splash, the composition puts her front and center with this urban backdrop that screams confidence.
The True Damage line went for a hip-hop streetwear direction versus K/DA’s pop aesthetic. Think Louis Vuitton collab energy. Qiyana’s outfit has the oversized jacket, the chunky sneakers, the whole fit. Season 9 I think, or maybe early pre-season 10, dont remember exactly. What I do remember is every other Qiyana main in my games had this skin equipped for weeks after release.
No chromas on this one. Zero. Which is kinda surprising for a 1350 RP Epic skin since most modern Epics ship with at least a few. The Prestige version exists separately if you want the gold treatment but the base True Damage skin stands on its own without needing color variants.
Shop has it. Permanent availability so you can grab it whenever. No vault nonsense, no loot-only restriction.
Is True Damage Qiyana worth 1350 RP?
Verdict time. For Qiyana mains this is probably a top three skin for the champion. The streetwear fantasy is executed well, the VFX changes are meaningful without being distracting, and the thematic fits Qiyana’s personality better than maybe any other skinline she’s been in. Battle Queen went royal, Shockblade went elemental ninja, but True Damage just lets Qiyana be Qiyana with better clothes.
1350 RP feels fair for what you get. Not the most VFX-heavy Epic I’ve seen but the cohesion between the audio design and the visual effects carries it. Took this into ranked for maybe 40 games across two weeks in bot lane specifically when I was playing her mid and the skin never got old. The ability readability is solid which matters when you’re trying to lane prio into roam plays pre-6.
Real talk though, if you’re a Qiyana one-trick you probably already own this. If you’re picking up Qiyana for the first time and want one skin to start with, True Damage is the safe pick. Best executed of the True Damage set alongside Ekko. Skip Battle Boss, come back to this one. Kinda feels like Riot knew Qiyana was built for this aesthetic from day one and just waited for the right skinline to prove it.
