Spirit Blossom Thresh

First time I saw Spirit Blossom Thresh on the enemy team I didnt even realize it was Thresh. Genuinely thought it was a new champion for about four seconds until the hook came out and I got pulled under tower. July 2020, during the Spirit Blossom event. The skin changes Thresh so dramatically that my brain just short-circuited for a moment. Been playing against it for years now and it still catches me off guard sometimes in the fog of war.

How the Spirit Blossom redesign plays out

The whole concept here is that Thresh drops his undead warden look and becomes this handsome spirit world figure with flowing white hair and petal effects. The model is completely different from base. No chains, no lantern hook. Instead you get this elegant spirit collector who moves through the map like he belongs in an anime. Jeremy “Jermu” Anninos did the splash art and it captures the vibe perfectly.

Death Sentence on Q throws out a spiritual tether instead of a chain. The hookshot animation is smoother, more fluid, and I think it actually reads slightly differently than base Thresh which can mess with people’s reaction timing. Could be wrong about that but I have dodged enough hooks to feel the difference. Dark Passage on W sends out a spirit lantern with blossom petals trailing behind it. The shield on pickup has a warm pink glow instead of the usual green.

Flay on E sweeps with spiritual energy that looks incredible in teamfights. The knockback on E with the spirit particles trailing behind the displaced enemies looks way more impactful than base. You can visually see the distance you pushed someone which helps with spacing decisions in lane. The Box on R drops these spirit pillars instead of the standard walls. Pink-white barriers that slow anyone walking through. The color contrast against the Rift at dragon pit or in the jungle is very distinct. Played a game last Wednesday where I boxed an entire team in baron pit with R and the visual of five pink walls closing in was something else. Their whole team panicked and two of them walked through walls and got slowed into an easy cleanup.

New voice lines completely change Thresh’s personality. He goes from a sadistic torturer to a charming collector of souls. Softer spoken, almost poetic. Mark Oliver’s voice work here is fantastic. (Random aside: some of the voice interactions with Spirit Blossom Ahri are genuinely flirty and the community went absolutely wild about that when it dropped.)

Chromas and Spirit Blossom details

Spirit Blossom Thresh comes with 8 chromas: Sapphire, Ruby, Catseye, Emerald, Pearl, Obsidian, Night Blossom, and one more I always forget the name of. Night Blossom flips the palette to dark tones and honestly might be the single best chroma in the entire Spirit Blossom line across all champions. Pearl is a close second. Goes all white and silver.

This Legendary released July 22, 2020 at 1820 RP as part of the Spirit Blossom skinline. Still available in the shop. The Spirit Blossom line is massive and Thresh is its centerpiece – he was literally the main character of the Spirit Blossom visual novel event that year.

Worth 1820 RP for Thresh mains

Might be overthinking it but I think Spirit Blossom Thresh is one of the best Legendary skins in the game period. Not just for Thresh. For any champion. The model redesign, the complete voice rework, the VFX on every ability. At 1820 RP you get a skin that genuinely transforms what the champion feels like to play and play against.

Been seeing this skin in maybe 60% of my Thresh games in Diamond this season. Thats not a coincidence. Support mains know this is the one. High Noon Thresh exists and it’s fine but Spirit Blossom is the Thresh skin. The complete model redesign, the voice overhaul, the VFX on every single ability. 1820 RP well spent for anyone who plays support. Lock it in and dont look back. Every hook you land with this skin just feels more rewarding than base.
