Spirit Blossom Aphelios

First game I played with Spirit Blossom Aphelios was around 1 AM on a Thursday, queued into a Diamond lobby where my support locked in Lulu. Loaded in and the splash alone had me sold. Fortune ‘Fortuneee’ K nailed the splash, the soft pinks and spirit petals framing Aphelios like he belongs in this skinline more than half the champions who got one before him. Felt right immediately.

How Spirit Blossom changes Aphelios on the Rift

The VFX overhaul is where this Epic earns its keep. Every weapon in the rotation gets spirit petal particles. Severum’s Q heal feels visually cleaner, the swirling blossoms around Aphelios during the sustained fire actually help you track the ability better in a teamfight. Gravitum snare procs leave little flower bursts on the target. Small touch but it reads well.

Infernum is the standout. The flamethrower autos scatter pink-purple embers across the wave, and the Infernum ult spreading through a clumped backline looks genuinely beautiful. Been running this skin since it dropped and I still notice new particle details in the Infernum R specifically. Crescendum turrets get the spirit treatment too, little spectral sentries that pulse with blossom energy. Not gonna lie, they look better than base by a wide margin.

Calibrum marks show up as flower sigils on targets. Easier to spot than the default mark in my experience, which actually matters when you’re trying to snipe someone from fog with the Q followup. The recall animation fits the Spirit Blossom aesthetic perfectly, Aphelios surrounded by drifting petals in a meditative pose. Voice lines stay base, no new VO, but the skin doesnt need it when the visuals carry this hard.

Spirit Blossom Aphelios released October 6, 2022. Late season 12. Second wave of Spirit Blossom skins after the original 2020 batch that gave us the Thresh and Ahri legendaries.

The Spirit Blossom skinline is one of Riot’s best thematic sets and Aphelios fits the vibe naturally. The quiet, brooding weapon of the faithful – kinda feels like the whole spirit realm aesthetic was designed with a champion like him in mind. My duo partner mains Thresh and runs Spirit Blossom Thresh, so the bot lane coordination hits different visually when we’re both in the same line.

9 chromas total for this one. Tanzanite is my go-to, the deep purple swaps out the pink tones for something darker that reads more like a nighttime spirit than a cherry blossom festival. Night Blossom goes full dark with icy blue accents, probably the most unique of the set. Rose Quartz leans harder into the pink which I think works if you want maximum Spirit Blossom energy. (Random aside: Tanzanite Aphelios is genuinely my lock screen wallpaper and has been since maybe December 2022.)

Should you buy Spirit Blossom Aphelios?

Real verdict: this is top pick for Aphelios mains. Could be wrong here but I think it edges out Nightbringer for best overall Aphelios skin. Nightbringer has the darker fantasy but Spirit Blossom’s particle work on five separate weapons is tighter. Every gun feels considered. That matters on a champion where you’re cycling through an entire arsenal every few minutes in lane.

1350 RP feels fair for what you get. New VFX across all five weapons, solid recall, strong splash. If you’re an Aphelios one-trick climbing through ranked this season, this is the skin. Spammed this in Diamond for months and the only game I swapped off it was when I accidentally selected EDG in champ select. Even then I missed the petals by mid game. Skip it if you dont play Aphelios regularly, but for mains and ADC players who keep him in rotation, its an easy buy. The Infernum ult alone in a five-man teamfight is worth the price of admission.
