Demacia Vice Lucian

First time I saw Demacia Vice Lucian load in, I thought someone modded the game. Neon pink and teal on the Rift looks wrong in the best way. Played maybe 30 games with it that first week and the novelty didnt wear off. Something about running down bot lane looking like you belong in a synthwave music video just hits different for a champion who’s usually all grim vengeance and holy light.

What the skin actually changes

Lucian gets a full 80s cop show makeover here. Leather jacket, shades, the whole deal. His guns have this chrome-neon look that catches light in a way base Lucian never does. Not gonna lie, the model alone sold me before I even saw the VFX.

The abilities got reworked visually and they lean hard into the neon aesthetic. Q fires a hot pink laser line that reads cleaner than base in teamfights. W sends out a teal-pink burst that pops against the Rift’s greens. E dash leaves a trail of neon particles behind you, and his ult is where it really shines. The Culling sprays this wall of pink-and-blue projectiles that looks straight out of a retro arcade cabinet. Been running this in Diamond ranked and the ult VFX genuinely feel smoother to track for kiting purposes, might be placebo but I swear by it.

Recall animation is new. Lucian leans against a sports car under neon lights. Classic. Voice lines stay base though, no new VO. Kinda feels like a missed opportunity since they could have thrown in some cheesy cop one-liners, but for 1350 RP I get it.

The Demacia Vice line and release context

Demacia Vice dropped July 18, 2019. Mid-season 9. The skinline launched with just two skins: Lucian and Garen. That’s it. Two skins total in the whole line, which is wild because the concept had so much potential. Riot basically created an entire retro-futuristic Demacia universe and then shelved it after two releases.

Kelly Aleshire nailed the splash. Lucian standing in rain-soaked neon streets, guns drawn, looking like the protagonist of a movie I’d absolutely watch. The composition is tight and the color palette carries so much personality. (Random aside: I had this as my desktop wallpaper for like four months straight.)

7 chromas available if you want to push the vibe further. Neon Noir is my pick, the dark purple and green combo feels like the director’s cut version of the skin. Obsidian goes full murdered-out which works for the aesthetic. Catseye swaps to yellow tones and honestly its cool but loses some of the retro magic that makes the base version work. The rest are there if you want options but those three are the ones worth looking at.

Is Demacia Vice Lucian worth 1350 RP?

Real verdict: this is one of those skins that punches above its tier. Could be wrong here but I think the thematic uniqueness carries it harder than skins with technically more features. There’s nothing else like Demacia Vice in Lucian’s lineup. High Noon is the popular pick. Project is the flashy one. Pulsefire has prestige variants. But Demacia Vice occupies this lane where it’s just cool without trying too hard.

1350 RP feels fair for what you get. New VFX on every ability, solid recall, strong splash, and a thematic that stands completely alone in Lucian’s catalog. Shop has it permanently so no rush, but if you main Lucian and you’re tired of cycling between High Noon and Project, this is the break you need. Spammed this in Diamond last season around October and got compliments in post-game chat twice, which never happens with Lucian skins because everyone runs the same three.

Skip it if you need new voice lines to justify a purchase. But for ADC mains who want something that looks clean in lane and stands out in the loading screen, Demacia Vice Lucian is a top pick. Season 9 release that still holds up. Not many Epic skins from that era can say the same.
