Curse of the Void Skins

All 4 skins in the Curse of the Void skinline. Browse splash art, chromas, and detailed reviews for every Curse of the Void skin in League of Legends.

Curse of the Void is one of those skinlines that feels like Riot had a clear vision but never fully committed to it. Four skins across five years, two Standards and two Epics, and then radio silence. Not gonna lie, the Void aesthetic is one of the strongest fantasy hooks in League and this line barely scratches the surface. Purple corruption, alien geometry, that unsettling organic-meets-cosmic look. The ingredients are all there. I've been playing since season 2 and the Void champion pool keeps growing but this skinline just stopped at four entries like Riot forgot it existed.

What Sets Curse of the Void Apart

The visual identity here leans hard into Void corruption. Think dark purples, sickly magentas, organic tendrils, and that signature "something is wrong" vibe that Void champions already carry in their base kits. The difference with these skins is they push it further. Champions who arent normally Void-touched get pulled into the aesthetic, or champions already connected to the Void get an alternate take on their relationship with it.

Pre-Void Kassadin goes the opposite direction from what you'd expect. Instead of more Void, it strips the Void away. Shows Kassadin before the corruption. Clean armor, human face, the whole deal. Kinda feels like it belongs in a different skinline entirely but the context is what ties it together. You need to know the Void to appreciate the "before" version.

Void Nocturne and Void Fizz take the straightforward approach. Champions who have nothing to do with the Void lore-wise get consumed by it. Nocturne's already a nightmare creature so the Void overlay works naturally. Purple energy, alien textures on his blade trails, the darkness passive reads differently with Void coloring. Fizz is the weird one. Cute trickster fish champion gets the full body horror treatment. His shark ult becomes a Void creature and honestly thats the selling point of the entire skin.

Then Void Bringer Illaoi came in 2015 and pushed the production quality up. Epic tier, 1350 RP, proper VFX treatment. The tentacles go full Void which is a perfect thematic match. Illaoi summons things from another dimension in her base kit already so making those things explicitly Void creatures just clicks. The color palette stays consistent across all four skins. Deep purple as the primary, magenta accents, traces of dark blue. Could be wrong here but I think the Void skins share more visual DNA than half of Riot's bigger skinlines.

Compared to something like Dark Star which also plays in cosmic horror territory, Curse of the Void feels more grounded. Dark Star goes abstract and celestial. Void stays biological and unsettling. The tentacles, the organic growths, the corruption spreading across armor and weapons. It reads more like an infection than a transformation. In my Diamond games I notice the Void skins immediately because they stand out from the usual bright flashy Epic skins people run.

Best Curse of the Void Skins

Real talk though. With only four skins this isn't a deep roster to rank. But the quality gap between them is wider than you'd expect.

Void Bringer Illaoi sits at the top and it's not close. Epic tier earning its 1350 RP price tag. The tentacles get full Void treatment with new textures and particle effects. Her W slam feels heavier with the Void VFX. The E spirit pull looks like you're literally ripping someone's soul into the Void. Been running this in ranked since maybe season 6 and the skin still holds up years later. (Random aside: the splash art for this one is genuinely unsettling in a good way, like Illaoi channeling a Void god instead of Nagakabouros.)

Void Fizz takes second. Another Epic at 1350 RP. The R is the star here. That Void shark emerging from the ground instead of the regular Chomper is one of the better ult visual changes at the Epic tier. The trident gets a Void makeover and his E playful trickster has purple splash effects. Played maybe 30 games of Fizz with this skin back in season 5 and the ability readability is solid. Not sure if it's just me but the Q feels faster with this skin even though I know it isnt.

Void Nocturne is decent for a 520 RP Standard skin. You're getting a texture swap and color change, nothing more. No new particles, no new sounds. Voice lines stay base. But the Void color palette on Nocturne's model works well because his kit already revolves around darkness and fear. The paranoia ult with Void-purple Nocturne diving your backline still looks menacing enough. For the price point, fair enough.

Pre-Void Kassadin is the oddball. Also 520 RP Standard tier. It's a lore skin more than a visual upgrade. You're paying to see Kassadin before the Void consumed him. Human Kassadin with intact armor. No new VFX which hurts because his abilities still look Void-infused even though the skin concept is pre-Void. The disconnect bothers me. Locked this in a few times in ARAM last season and it just feels incomplete without matching particles.

Might be overthinking it but the two Epics carry this entire skinline. Without Void Fizz and Void Bringer Illaoi the line would be forgettable.

Champion Roster and Thematic Fit

Four champions. Kassadin, Nocturne, Fizz, Illaoi. Small roster.

Illaoi fits the best and it's obvious why. Her entire kit revolves around summoning entities from another realm. Swapping the Nagakabouros aesthetic for Void tentacles is a natural pivot. The gameplay fantasy doesn't change but the visual story shifts completely. She went from priestess to Void conduit and it works.

Nocturne makes sense thematically. Nightmare entity plus Void corruption is a clean overlap. Both deal in fear and the unknown. The champion design already has that otherworldly quality so the Void layer doesn't fight the base concept. Could be coping but I think Nocturne might be the most natural Void candidate in the entire game after actual Void champions.

Fizz is the surprise pick. Playful assassin fish getting the Void treatment sounds wrong on paper. But the execution works because Fizz's ult always involved a creature emerging from below. Making that creature a Void beast instead of a shark gives the skin its identity. The rest of the kit translation is fine. Not spectacular but fine.

Kassadin is already a Void champion so Pre-Void Kassadin is less "this champion joins the Void line" and more "here's the lore backstory skin." Interesting concept. Mid execution at 520 RP. Been wanting Riot to revisit this concept with modern production quality for years now. A 1350 RP Pre-Void Kassadin with unique VFX showing non-Void magic would be something special. (Sidebar for Kassadin mains specifically: you know this champion deserves better than a 520 RP lore skin from 2010.)

Who should join? Rek'Sai feels like the most glaring absence. Already a Void champion, already has the aesthetic built in. A "Curse of the Void" Rek'Sai that leans harder into the corruption angle would sell. Warwick getting Void-corrupted during a hunt. Rengar tracking Void prey. Vi punching through Void portals. The concept space is massive and Riot left it at four skins.

Tier and Price Breakdown

Split right down the middle. Two Standard skins at 520 RP each from 2010 and 2011. Two Epic skins at 1350 RP from 2014 and 2015. You can see the production timeline in the quality gap.

The Standards are what you'd expect from that era. Model changes, texture swaps, maybe a slight color shift on particles. No new animations, base voice lines, nothing fancy. 520 RP was the budget tier back then and these skins reflect it. Not bad for the price, just minimal.

The Epics carry the line. Both Void Fizz and Void Bringer Illaoi deliver at 1350 RP with new particles, recall animations, and sound effects. The jump in quality between the 2010 Standards and the 2014-2015 Epics is massive. Feels like two different skinlines honestly. No Legendaries in the set which I think is a missed opportunity. A Legendary Void skin with new voice lines about the corruption consuming the champion could have been incredible. Take this with a grain of salt but I dont think Riot saw enough sales potential in the Void theme to greenlight a 1820 RP project for it.

Price range runs 520 to 1350 RP. Accessible. You can own all four Curse of the Void skins for less than a single Ultimate skin costs. That's not nothing for completionists.

Spammed Void Bringer Illaoi through my Diamond climb in season 8 and the skin felt worth every RP. The Standards I grabbed from My Shop discounts which is the right call. Dont pay full price for 520 RP skins released in 2010 unless you're collecting.

Should Riot Expand Curse of the Void?

Short answer: yes. Long answer: the Void has become one of League's most developed lore regions and this skinline hasn't gotten a new entry since 2015. That's wild to me. Bel'Veth dropped in 2022 as a full Void champion, Riot released a Void event, the lore team clearly cares about this space. But the Curse of the Void skinline sits frozen in time.

Maybe just my experience but every time a new Void-adjacent champion or rework drops people in my games ask about Void skins for non-Void champions. The concept has legs. Void-corrupted versions of popular champions would sell. Imagine Void Jinx with her weapons mutating into organic Void cannons. Or Void Thresh where the lantern is a Void portal. The creative space is barely tapped.

Four skins in five years then nothing for a decade. One of the more puzzling decisions from the skin team. Good bones. Needs a revival.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many Curse of the Void skins are there?

Four skins total. Pre-Void Kassadin and Void Nocturne at the Standard tier, then Void Fizz and Void Bringer Illaoi as Epics. Small lineup but the Epics punch above their weight. Been hoping Riot expands it since 2015 but nothing yet. The Void aesthetic deserves more than four entries.

What is the best Curse of the Void skin?

Void Bringer Illaoi by a wide margin. The tentacles going full Void is a perfect thematic match and the VFX quality holds up even now. Void Fizz takes second for the ult alone. The two Standard skins are fine for their price but they're from a different era of skin production entirely.

Which champions have Curse of the Void skins?

Kassadin, Nocturne, Fizz, and Illaoi. Kassadin's the only actual Void champion in the set. His skin goes the reverse direction showing him pre-corruption. The other three get pulled into the Void theme from outside it. Illaoi and Fizz fit the best in my opinion.

Does Curse of the Void have Legendary skins?

No Legendaries. The line tops out at Epic tier with Void Fizz and Void Bringer Illaoi at 1350 RP each. Honestly think a Legendary Void skin with corrupted voice lines would be incredible but Riot never went there. Maybe if the line ever gets revived they'll consider it.

When did the Curse of the Void skinline release?

Started in 2010 with Pre-Void Kassadin. Void Nocturne came in 2011. Then a gap until Void Fizz in 2014 and Void Bringer Illaoi in 2015. Nothing since. The whole line spans five years of releases and then a full decade of silence. Strange one.

Are Curse of the Void skins worth buying?

The two Epics are worth it if you main Fizz or Illaoi. Void Bringer Illaoi especially delivers at 1350 RP. The Standards at 520 RP are harder to recommend at full price in 2026. Wait for a My Shop discount or a sale. They're model swaps from 2010-2011, set expectations accordingly.

Do Curse of the Void skins have chromas?

The older skins in this line predate the chroma system entirely. Void Bringer Illaoi picked up chromas later which helps extend the skin's value. Not all four have them though. Check the individual skin pages for current chroma availability since Riot adds them in batches sometimes.

Will Riot make more Curse of the Void skins?

No announcements as of early 2026. The line hasn't gotten a new skin since 2015 which is a long drought. Riot's been investing in Void lore though so there's hope. Could see a batch release with a Void event. Pure speculation on my part but the demand is there from what I see in ranked lobbies and Reddit threads.
