Ziggs Skins

12 skins available

Ziggs is one of those champions where the skin catalog actually matters more than you'd think. Twelve skins deep at this point, and most of them change the way his bombs look and feel on the Rift. Been playing Ziggs mid and APC bot since season 4, and I've cycled through almost every skin he's got. Some hit way harder than others. Not gonna lie, he's one of the few champs where even the cheaper options feel good because his kit is so visually expressive. Bombs flying everywhere, the bouncing Q, that massive ult landing across the map. Every skin gets a chance to shine with that kind of kit.

The Ziggs Skin Collection Over the Years

Twelve skins spanning from 2012 to 2023. That's a solid decade-plus of Riot giving the little yordle some love. Mad Scientist Ziggs kicked things off back in 2012, and La Ilusión Ziggs closed it out in 2023. Could be wrong here but I think there's a decent gap between some releases where Riot kind of forgot about him. Standard tier stuff early on with Mad Scientist, Major, and the original lineup. Then Riot figured out that Ziggs is basically a walking VFX showcase and started dropping Epic after Epic.

The breakdown tells the story. Three Standards, eight Epics, one Mythic. No Legendary. That last part stings a bit honestly. A champion whose entire identity is throwing colorful explosives and he doesnt have a single Legendary with new voice lines and animations? Feels like a missed opportunity. Every time Riot announces a new Legendary batch I check for Ziggs and get disappointed.

Still though, eight Epics is generous. Most of them landed between 2015 and 2020, which was Riot's golden era for 1350 RP skins. Each one changes his bomb particles, Q bounce visuals, and that glorious R explosion. For a poke mage who's constantly throwing abilities, you notice every particle change. Big deal.

(Random aside: I once counted how many Qs I throw in an average Ziggs game. North of 80. So yeah, particle quality matters for this champ specifically.)

The catalog doesn't have much filler. Even his weakest skins are at least okay, which is more than you can say for some champions with similar skin counts. Twelve skins, mostly Epics, no real stinker in the bunch. Solid roster.

Best Skins for Ziggs

Hextech Ziggs is the crown jewel and its not even close. Mythic tier, so you're crafting this one through Hextech or getting extremely lucky with drops. The blue-gold hextech aesthetic fits Ziggs perfectly because his bombs already look like little gadgets. The Q bounces leave these geometric hex patterns on the ground. His W detonation has that crystalline shatter effect. And the R? Massive hextech explosion that looks clean from any distance. Been running this in Diamond when I want to flex and the amount of "nice skin" comments in all chat is real. Problem is the acquisition method. You're not buying this one.

Pool Party Ziggs is probably the best bang for your buck. 1350 RP, permanently in the shop, and the water bomb theme is just fun. His Q is a water balloon. The bouncing animation on it looks hilarious. W is a pool float or something, his E mines are little rubber ducks. Spammed this skin through an entire summer ranked grind back in season 10 and never got tired of it. The recall where he cannonballs into a pool is peak Ziggs energy. Might be overthinking it but I think this skin actually makes laning more enjoyable because the sound effects are softer. Less harsh on the ears during long sessions.

Master Arcanist Ziggs deserves the hype. 1350 RP, magic-themed, and the purple VFX hit different. His bombs become these arcane orbs with swirling energy inside them. The Q trail has this mystic particle effect that looks crisp on max settings. Played maybe 150 games on this one across season 11 and 12. The splash by the art team captures the "unhinged magical inventor" vibe perfectly. Real talk though, the E minefield on this skin is probably the best looking E across all Ziggs skins. Little arcane traps scattered on the ground. Looks menacing.

Battle Boss Ziggs is the arcade fantasy. 1350 RP, pixel art bomb effects, 8-bit sound design on abilities. His ult looks like a giant pixel bomb dropping from the sky. If you grew up on Bomberman this skin is basically a love letter. The recall animation ties into the Arcade universe and its one of the more creative ones. Not my main pick for ranked but I rotate it in for normals when I want something lighthearted.

Odyssey Ziggs rounds out the top five. Space theme, sci-fi bomb effects, clean orange and teal color palette. Released alongside the Odyssey PvE event back in 2018 which was genuinely one of Riot's better game modes. Kinda feels like this skin carries some nostalgia from that era. The VFX are sharp, the theme fits, and 1350 RP is fair for the package.

Skinlines and Themes That Fit Ziggs

Ziggs shows up in eight different skinlines and honestly most of them work. Pool Party is the obvious fit. Chaotic yordle who throws things plus summer pool setting equals natural comedy. The Mad Scientists line from early League is a bit dated but thematically perfect for a demolitions expert. Snow Day is cute but forgettable. Snowball bombs, you get it.

The Arcanists line gave us Master Arcanist and that's one of the better thematic matches. Ziggs as a magical explosives expert instead of a mechanical one. Small twist, big payoff. Arcade Battle Bosses is more of a stretch but the pixel aesthetic actually works because Ziggs is already cartoonish. He fits right into that visual language without looking forced.

(Sidebar for mid lane mains: if you're picking Ziggs into poke comps, the darker skins like Hextech and Master Arcanist feel slightly harder to read for enemies. Placebo? Maybe. But I swear the Pool Party water balloons are easier to dodge because they're so bright and visible.)

Sugar Rush was an interesting choice. Candy themed Ziggs. Not gonna lie, it works better than expected because the colorful candy bombs match his playful personality. Odyssey gave him the sci-fi treatment and that crew of champions from the event mode still feels like a missed opportunity for more content. La Ilusión is the newest, tying into a cultural theme that's visually distinct from everything else in his catalog. Fresh direction.

The one skinline I think Riot should explore for Ziggs is something darker. Infernal or Dark Star Ziggs would go incredibly hard. A champion built around explosions in a fire or cosmic destruction theme? Writes itself. Been waiting seasons for this.

Budget vs Premium Picks

Here's where Ziggs actually has an interesting situation. His price range runs from 975 RP Standards to 1350 RP Epics, with the Mythic being unobtainable through direct purchase. There's no Legendary option. So your premium ceiling is really 1350 RP, which is nice for the wallet.

Best value pick is Pool Party Ziggs at 1350. I know thats technically the most expensive purchasable tier he has, but the amount of visual and audio changes you get is substantial. Every ability looks and sounds different. The recall is unique. For a champion you're staring at for 25-40 minutes per game while constantly casting, that matters.

If you want to save RP, the Standard tier skins are fine but they show their age. Mad Scientist changes the model and gives you a different vibe but the particles are mostly base. Major Ziggs is a military reskin. These are season 2-3 era skins and they look like it. Not bad. Just dated. Functional if you want something different from default without spending much.

Real talk: the gap between 975 and 1350 on Ziggs feels bigger than on most champions because his kit is so particle-heavy. You're constantly seeing ability effects, so spending the extra RP for Epic tier particles is worth it. Every Epic in his catalog earns its 1350 price tag. Some champions have filler Epics that barely change anything. Ziggs doesnt have that problem.

Fair warning though: if you're an ARAM enjoyer who plays Ziggs occasionally, don't overthink it. Grab whichever Epic is on sale next. They're all good. If you main him in ranked, Pool Party or Master Arcanist. Done.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many skins does Ziggs have?

Twelve skins total as of 2023. Been collecting them since season 3 myself. Three Standards from the early days, eight Epics which is where the real variety lives, and one Mythic (Hextech Ziggs) that you gotta craft or get lucky with drops. Solid count for a yordle who's not exactly the most popular champion on the Rift.

What is the best Ziggs skin?

Hextech Ziggs if you can get it. Mythic tier, best VFX in his catalog. For something you can actually buy, Pool Party Ziggs at 1350 RP is the go-to. Water balloon Q, rubber duck mines, the whole package. Been my main Ziggs skin for ranked since I picked it up. Master Arcanist is a close second though.

What is the cheapest Ziggs skin?

The Standard tier skins sit at 975 RP. Mad Scientist Ziggs, Major Ziggs, and a couple others from the early seasons. They change the model but dont do much for particles. Decent if you're on a budget but honestly the jump to 1350 for an Epic is worth saving up for. Night and day difference on a particle-heavy champ like Ziggs.

Does Ziggs have a Legendary skin?

Nope. Zero Legendaries. Kind of wild honestly. His highest tier is the Mythic Hextech Ziggs which has premium VFX but no new voice lines or animations. For a champ who's been around since 2012 with twelve skins, the lack of a Legendary with new VO feels like a gap Riot needs to fill. Maybe someday.

What skinlines is Ziggs in?

Eight skinlines total. Pool Party, Mad Scientists, Arcanists, Arcade Battle Bosses, Odyssey, Snow Day, Sugar Rush, and La Ilusión. Pretty diverse range. Pool Party and Arcanists fit him best in my opinion. The Mad Scientists line is classic but shows its age. Odyssey carries nostalgia from the PvE event back in 2018.

Does Ziggs have chromas?

Several of his Epic skins have chromas available. Battle Boss, Master Arcanist, and some of the newer releases came with chroma sets. Good way to customize further without buying a whole new skin. I usually grab the Obsidian or darker chromas when they're available because they make the VFX pop more against the Rift's green.

When was Ziggs's last skin released?

La Ilusión Ziggs dropped in 2023. Before that there was a decent gap. Not sure exactly how long but it felt like Ziggs mains were waiting a while. The La Ilusión theme brought a fresh cultural direction to his catalog. Hoping Riot keeps the momentum going and doesnt make us wait another two years for the next one.

Is Ziggs worth buying skins for?

Absolutely yes. Ziggs is one of the best champions for skins because you see ability effects constantly. His Q, W, E, R are all visually dominant. Every teamfight you're throwing bombs nonstop so particle quality matters more than on most champs. Even if you only play him occasionally in ARAM, one Epic skin makes the experience way better. Grab Pool Party minimum.
