Udyr Skins
6 skins availableUdyr's skin catalog is one of those collections that tells a story about Riot's design philosophy changing over the years. Six skins total and honestly the gap between his worst and best is maybe the widest in the entire game. Been playing Udyr on and off since season 3, mostly as a jungle pocket pick when my main gets banned, and the rework in 2022 basically turned his cosmetics into a before-and-after showcase. Some of these skins feel like relics from a different game. Others hit hard enough to justify the price tag without question.

3 skinsHow Udyr's Skin Collection Shaped Up
Six skins spanning from 2010 to 2023. Not gonna lie, thats a pretty thin roster for a champion who's been in the game since the early days. Most champs with that kind of tenure have double digits by now. But Udyr's situation is unique because of the full VGU rework he got in August 2022. Every single skin got rebuilt from scratch. So while the names stayed the same, the actual quality jumped massively across the board.
The tier breakdown tells you a lot. Three Standards sitting at budget prices, two Epics at 1350 RP, and one Ultimate at 3250 RP. No Legendary in sight. Kinda feels like Riot skipped that middle-premium tier entirely for him. You go from "cheap recolor" straight to "most expensive skin tier in the game" with Spirit Guard. No in-between until Dragon Oracle dropped.
Black Belt Udyr kicked things off back in 2010. Ancient by League standards. Then Primal followed pretty quick after. Spirit Guard came in 2013 and was genuinely a big deal at the time because pre-rework Udyr looked so rough that people joked Spirit Guard was what his base model should have been. Definitely Not Udyr is the meme skin. Dragon Oracle landed in 2019 and gave him his first real Epic-tier cosmetic. Inkshadow closed out the lineup in 2023, post-rework, and it shows.
The rework changed everything about how these skins read in game. Pre-rework Udyr was this clunky bear-turtle-tiger-phoenix stance dancer with animations from 2009. Post-rework he's fluid, his stances have real visual identity, and every skin benefits from that foundation. Even the cheap ones look respectable now. Big upgrade.
Best Udyr Skins Worth Your RP
Spirit Guard Udyr. Full stop. This is the Ultimate tier skin at 3250 RP and after the rework it actually earns that price tag. Before the VGU, Spirit Guard was basically "what Udyr should look like" and people bought it as a visual fix. Now it's a genuine premium experience on top of an already solid base model. Each stance gets completely unique visual language. The Q stance channels this electric storm energy, W shifts into a flowing water guardian aesthetic. E brings the fire hard with particle effects that fill your screen during jungle clears. R is where it peaks though. The storm bear form with the lightning crackling around his fists. Played maybe 40 games with this skin last season and the R engage into a teamfight is genuinely one of the best-feeling moments in the jungle role.
Dragon Oracle at 1350 RP is the value king. Could be wrong here but I think this might be his best skin pound-for-pound when you factor in price. The dragon-themed VFX on each stance look clean. Q gets these sharp draconic claw effects, the W shield has scales rippling across it. Took this into ranked for a solid two weeks in Diamond and the visual clarity is actually better than Spirit Guard in some teamfight scenarios. Less noise, more readable.
Inkshadow Udyr is the newest at 1350 RP and it leans into this ink-wash painting aesthetic. Released 2023 as part of the Inkshadow line. The brush-stroke particles on his abilities are gorgeous. E especially, the ram stance leaves these ink trails when you charge at people. (Random aside: the splash art for this one is desktop wallpaper material, been using it since it dropped.) Not sure if its just me but the auto attack animations feel slightly different on this skin. Smoother somehow. Might be placebo.
Definitely Not Udyr deserves a mention for pure comedy value. It's the "Definitely Not" skinline meme where he's wearing a terrible disguise. Post-rework they kept the joke but made it actually look decent. At 975 RP it's a personality pick. You lock this in when you want your team to laugh in champ select. Seen it maybe twice in my ranked games all season but both times the Udyr player was cracked.
Primal Udyr at 975 RP goes for the prehistoric hunter vibe. Caveman energy. After the rework the model actually looks solid for a Standard skin. The stance forms pull from different prehistoric creatures which fits Udyr's shapeshifter identity pretty naturally.
Skinlines and Where Udyr Fits
Udyr touches six different skinlines and honestly most of them fit him better than you'd expect. The Definitely Not line is obviously a joke. Day Job is what Black Belt falls under, the martial arts fantasy. Prehistoric Hunters houses Primal. Spirit Guard is its own standalone thing, which makes sense for an Ultimate skin. Dragon World contains Dragon Oracle, and Inkshadow is the newest line.
The champion's whole deal is channeling animal spirits, shifting between stances mid-combat. So skinlines that lean into primal, spiritual, or elemental themes tend to work best. Dragon World nails it because dragons are basically the apex version of the animal spirit concept. Inkshadow works because the ink-painting aesthetic gives his stance shifts this artistic brush-stroke quality that feels intentional.
Real talk though, the Spirit Guard line being Udyr-exclusive makes it feel less like a skinline and more like a character upgrade. Which it literally was before the VGU. That skin carried his entire visual identity for nearly a decade. Kind of wild when you think about it. No other champion had that dynamic where a skin was more recognizable than their base model for years.
The one skinline I wish they'd put him in is something darker. Coven or Elderwood maybe. His connection to spirits and nature would translate perfectly into that mystical forest horror vibe. Been saying this in champion discussion threads since season 12. Riot if you're reading this. Please.
Budget Picks vs Going All In
The price spread on Udyr skins goes from 520 RP all the way up to 3250 RP. Massive range. If you're climbing ranked and just want something that looks better than base, Black Belt at 520 RP is serviceable after the rework. Not exciting but not embarrassing either. Clean martial arts look.
For the best value though Dragon Oracle at 1350 is the easy recommendation. Gets you custom VFX on every stance, solid model changes, good splash. Spammed this in Diamond during season 13 and never felt like I was missing out compared to Spirit Guard players. The visual clarity point matters in high elo. When you're tracking your own cooldowns and stance swaps in a messy teamfight, cleaner particles actually help.
Spirit Guard at 3250 RP is the premium commitment. Worth it if you main Udyr or one-trick him. Not worth it if he's your third jungle pick. The skin evolves as you level up stances which is cool but after 50 games you stop noticing. Fair warning, the price is steep enough that I'd say wait for the Your Shop discount if it ever shows up there. Might be overthinking it but 3250 RP on a single skin stings when you could grab two Epics and a chroma pack for the same amount.
Inkshadow competes directly with Dragon Oracle at the same 1350 price point. Comes down to aesthetic preference. Dragon Oracle for the fantasy-warrior look, Inkshadow for the artistic ink-brush style. Both are solid. Cant go wrong with either one.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many skins does Udyr have?
Udyr has 6 skins total. Pretty thin for a champion who's been around since 2009. Three Standards, two Epics, and one Ultimate. The 2022 rework rebuilt all of them from scratch though, so even the old ones look way better than they used to. Quality over quantity situation here.
What is the best Udyr skin?
Spirit Guard Udyr if money's no object. The evolving stance forms and premium VFX justify the Ultimate price tag, especially post-rework. For value? Dragon Oracle at 1350 RP. Played both extensively in ranked and Dragon Oracle punches way above its weight class. Honestly its close between them.
What is the cheapest Udyr skin?
Black Belt Udyr at 520 RP. Cheapest option by a wide margin. After the rework it looks decent for the price. Martial arts theme, clean model. Not flashy, no custom VFX, but it gets the job done if you just want something different from the base skin without spending much.
Does Udyr have a Legendary skin?
No Legendary. Udyr skips the 1820 RP tier entirely. Goes straight from Epic at 1350 to Ultimate at 3250 with Spirit Guard. Kinda weird honestly. Most champions his age have at least one Legendary by now. Maybe Riot figures Spirit Guard covers that premium slot already. Could see one coming eventually though.
What skinlines is Udyr in?
Six skinlines: Day Job, Prehistoric Hunters, Spirit Guard, Definitely Not, Dragon World, and Inkshadow. Dragon World and Inkshadow fit his animal-spirit theme the best. Spirit Guard is its own standalone line which is typical for Ultimate skins. Definitely Not is the meme pick. Solid range of themes across the collection.
Does Udyr have chromas?
Dragon Oracle and Inkshadow both have chroma sets available. The Epic skins got the chroma treatment which is standard for that tier. Some solid color options in both sets. Spirit Guard and the Standard skins don't have chromas. If you want variety, the two Epics give you plenty to work with.
When was Udyr's last skin released?
Inkshadow Udyr dropped in 2023. Part of the Inkshadow skinline that came out that year. First post-rework original skin for him since Dragon Oracle was just updated during the VGU. Been over a year since then so he's probably due for something new. Fingers crossed for a Legendary honestly.
Is Udyr worth buying skins for?
If you play him regularly, absolutely. The rework made his base model solid but skins like Dragon Oracle and Spirit Guard add real visual flair to his stance-swapping gameplay. Jungle mains who play him in ranked will appreciate the investment. Grab Dragon Oracle at minimum if he's in your pool. 1350 RP well spent.
