Taliyah

Taliyah Skins

6 skins available

Taliyah might have one of the smallest skin collections in the game and honestly thats part of what makes each release feel like an event. Six skins total across seven years. Not a lot to work with. But Riot somehow managed to give her a pretty solid range of themes, from icy Freljord vibes to full magical girl energy. Been maining her on and off since season 6, mostly in the jungle after her rework, and I've spent way too much time going back and forth on which skin to lock in before every ranked game. The catalog is tight but there's real quality here if you know where to look.

How Taliyah's Skin Collection Shaped Up

Six skins. That's it. For a champion released in 2016, that number feels low compared to someone like Lux or Ezreal who get a new skin every other patch. Taliyah's pickrate has never been massive which probably explains the slower release cadence. Riot tends to prioritize skins for champions that sell, and Taliyah mains have always been a smaller but dedicated crowd.

The breakdown is five Epics and one Mythic. No Legendary. No Ultimate. Could be wrong here but I think she deserves at least a Legendary at some point, the kit is so visually expressive with all the rock surfing and ground manipulation that a full VO rework would hit different. Every Epic sits at 1350 RP which is standard pricing across the board. The Mythic, Crystalis Motus, runs on special currency so thats a different conversation entirely.

Freljord Taliyah dropped alongside her release in 2016. Her launch skin. Then nothing until SSG Taliyah in 2018 for the Worlds championship line. Two year gap. Pool Party came 2018 as well so that year was actually decent for Taliyah enjoyers. Star Guardian landed in 2022 after another long drought. Four years between skins. Crystalis Motus and Durand's Legacy round things out in 2023.

The year range from 2016 to 2023 means the visual quality jumps are noticeable. Freljord looks clean but dated compared to Star Guardian or Crystalis Motus. Riot's skin pipeline improved a lot over those seven years and you can see it in the particle work especially on the newer releases. Not gonna lie, going back to Freljord after playing Star Guardian feels like switching from 1080p to 720p on the VFX side.

Best Taliyah Skins Worth Your RP

Star Guardian Taliyah. Full stop. This is the skin that finally gave her the premium treatment she deserved. The entire ability kit gets a magical girl overhaul. Her Q throws these sparkly star projectiles instead of rocks, the W launch pad has this constellation effect, and the E mines shimmer with that signature Star Guardian pink and purple palette. Played maybe 150 games with this one in Diamond last season and the animations just feel crisp. (Random aside: the recall animation where she rides her surfboard through a starfield is genuinely one of the best recalls in the game.) The Star Guardian Season 4 line was stacked but Taliyah holds her own against Kai'Sa and Akali in that set.

Crystalis Motus Taliyah sits in a weird spot. Mythic tier means you cant just buy it outright for RP. You need Mythic Essence or get lucky with drops. The crystal theme transforms her rocks into these gorgeous translucent shards and the R wall becomes this massive crystal formation cutting across the Rift. Visually its probably her most impressive skin. But accessibility is the problem. Spammed this in ranked for about two weeks after rolling it from a chest around 3 AM on a Tuesday and the compliments in lobby were constant. People genuinely dont see this skin often.

Freljord Taliyah deserves respect as the OG. Released alongside the champion in 2016, it gives her this ice-touched aesthetic that fits surprisingly well with her earth-shaping kit. The Q stones become ice chunks. Kinda feels like Riot originally considered making her a Freljord champion before settling on Shurima. The blue and white color scheme reads well on the Rift and the splash art still holds up. For 1350 RP it delivers solid value even if the particle work isnt as refined as the 2022-2023 releases.

Pool Party Taliyah is fun but polarizing. She's throwing water balloons instead of rocks. Her W summons a wave. The E leaves puddles. It's goofy and I respect it. Some games you just want to vibe and Pool Party delivers that energy. Had this locked in for most of summer 2019 and the seasonal fit made it better somehow. Not the best skin objectively but the personality carries it.

SSG Taliyah rounds out my top picks. The World Champions 2017 line celebrated Samsung Galaxy's win and Taliyah got picked because of Ambition's jungle performance that Worlds. Cool legacy to carry. The white and blue jersey aesthetic is clean. Might be overthinking it but there's something special about wearing a competitive legacy skin into your own ranked games, like borrowing someone else's championship ring for a pickup game.

Skinlines and How They Fit Taliyah

Six skinlines for six skins. No repeats. Freljord, World Champions 2017, Pool Party, Star Guardian Season 4, Crystalis Motus, and The Laws of Stone. Each one pulls Taliyah in a completely different thematic direction which keeps the collection from feeling samey.

Star Guardian fits her the best in my opinion. The magical girl archetype maps perfectly onto a young champion who's still learning to control her powers. That's literally Taliyah's lore. A student. Someone growing into their abilities. The Star Guardian narrative of chosen protectors discovering their destiny parallels her story in a way that feels intentional even if Riot probably just picked her because the kit would look cool with sparkles.

Freljord is the most lore-adjacent pick since Taliyah actually travels through the Freljord in her story. Makes canonical sense. Pool Party is pure fun, no thematic depth, just vibes. The Crystalis Motus line leans into a crystalline elemental fantasy that works because her base kit already manipulates earth and stone. Turning rock into crystal isn't a huge leap. The Laws of Stone with Durand's Legacy connects to Demacian lore and Galio's creator which is an interesting crossover.

Real talk though, I think Taliyah would kill it in a Dark Star or Cosmic skin line. The wall surfing animation with cosmic trails? Been thinking about that since season 9 I think or maybe 10 dont remember exactly. Riot if you're reading this make it happen.

Budget vs Premium Picks for Taliyah

Here's the thing about Taliyah's catalog. There is no budget option. Every purchasable skin is 1350 RP. No 520, no 750, no 975 tier skins exist for her. You're paying Epic prices no matter what you choose. The only outlier is Crystalis Motus which requires Mythic Essence instead of RP.

So the budget conversation becomes: which 1350 skin gives you the most for your RP? Freljord punches hard for the price. Clean particles, good splash, thematic cohesion. If you're climbing ranked on Taliyah and want one skin without overthinking it, Freljord is the safe pick. Been daily driving it in my secondary account games and it never feels like a downgrade.

Star Guardian is the premium recommendation at the same 1350 price point. More elaborate VFX, better recall, stronger thematic identity. If you can only buy one Taliyah skin this is it. 1350 RP feels fair for what you get. The particle quality rivals some Legendary skins from older champions. SSG and Pool Party fall in the middle. Good but not essential. (Sidebar for Taliyah one-tricks specifically: you probably already own all of them so this ranking is academic.)

Fair warning, if you're hoping for a cheap entry point into Taliyah cosmetics you wont find one. The champion just doesn't have lower-tier options. Every skin is a full Epic with new particles and effects. Could be worse honestly. At least there's no 520 RP recolor pretending to be a real skin.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many skins does Taliyah have?

Six skins total as of 2023. Freljord, SSG, Pool Party, Star Guardian, Crystalis Motus, and Durand's Legacy. Not a huge collection for a champion released in 2016 but the quality is consistent across all of them. No filler picks really. Every skin changes particles and has a distinct identity which is more than some champions with 15 skins can say.

What is the best Taliyah skin?

Star Guardian Taliyah for me. Best particles, best recall, best thematic fit. The magical girl aesthetic matches her lore as a young student discovering her powers. Locked this in for most of my ranked games last season. Crystalis Motus is arguably flashier but way harder to get since its Mythic tier. For accessibility plus quality, Star Guardian wins.

What is the cheapest Taliyah skin?

Every purchasable Taliyah skin costs 1350 RP. There's no budget option. No 520 or 750 RP skins exist for her. Freljord, SSG, Pool Party, Star Guardian, and Durand's Legacy all sit at the same Epic price point. Kinda feels like Riot skipped the cheap tiers entirely for her. If you want the lowest cost entry, wait for a sale or Your Shop discount.

Does Taliyah have a Legendary skin?

No Legendary skin for Taliyah yet. Her highest tier is Mythic with Crystalis Motus. Everything else is Epic at 1350 RP. Honestly think she deserves a Legendary. The kit has so much visual potential with the wall surfing and ground manipulation. A full VO rework would be incredible for her. Maybe someday. Riot please.

What skinlines is Taliyah in?

Six different skinlines, no repeats. Freljord, World Champions 2017 (the SSG skin), Pool Party, Star Guardian Season 4, Crystalis Motus, and The Laws of Stone for Durand's Legacy. Pretty diverse range. Star Guardian and Crystalis Motus are the standout themes in my opinion. Pool Party is the fun pick for when you dont want to take ranked too seriously.

Does Taliyah have chromas?

Some of her skins do have chroma options. Pool Party and Star Guardian both got chroma sets when they released. The chromas add some nice color variety if the base palette doesn't click with you. Star Guardian's chromas in particular offer some solid alternatives. Worth checking if you already own the base skin and want a fresh look without buying something new.

When was Taliyah's last skin released?

Durand's Legacy Taliyah and Crystalis Motus both dropped in 2023. Before that there was a four year gap between Pool Party in 2018 and Star Guardian in 2022. Taliyah mains are used to waiting. Not gonna lie the drought between 2018 and 2022 was rough. Hoping the pace picks up but with her pickrate it's hard to predict when the next one comes.

Is Taliyah worth buying skins for?

If you play her regularly then absolutely. Her kit translates well to skin themes because the rock manipulation VFX give artists a lot to work with. The Q alone fires five projectiles so any particle change is immediately noticeable. Even at 1350 RP across the board the value feels solid. Taliyah skins tend to punch above their tier. Start with Star Guardian and go from there.
