Sylas Skins

9 skins available

Sylas has one of the more interesting skin catalogs in League and I think most people sleep on it. Nine skins since 2019 and the quality curve went straight up. Been playing him on and off since his release, mostly mid but sometimes jungle when the comp needs AP and engage, and honestly his skins feel better than a lot of champions who've been around twice as long. The Legendary alone justifies paying attention to this page. Not gonna lie, Riot put in real work here for a champion thats only been on the Rift for five years.

How Sylas Built His Skin Collection

Nine skins from 2019 to 2024. For a champion released in January 2019, that pace is solid. One Legendary, three Mythic-tier prestige and event skins, and five Epics filling out the catalog. Every single purchasable skin sits at 1350 RP or above. No budget options here.

Lunar Wraith Sylas dropped alongside his release. Classic Riot move, launching a champion with a themed skin to push sales. It worked. The Lunar Revel aesthetic gave him this spectral chain energy that honestly still holds up years later. Then Freljord Sylas came through, leaning into that rugged frozen warrior look. Decent skin. Nothing groundbreaking but clean execution for 1350.

Could be wrong here but I think the PROJECT line was where Riot figured out what Sylas skins should feel like. PROJECT: Sylas turned those chains into these neon-lit tech whips and the whole kit just clicked visually. The Prestige PROJECT variant pushed the color palette into white and gold territory. Both dropped around 2021 if I remember right, and they were everywhere in my ranked games that season.

(Random sidebar: I played against a Prestige PROJECT Sylas one-trick in Diamond 3 who absolutely demolished my team. Still remember it because the skin particles made his W heal look way more threatening than it actually was.)

Battle Wolf Sylas came from the Anima Squad event. Ashen Slayer Sylas hit different though. That Ashen Knights line has this dark corrupted energy and on a champion who literally steals power from others? Perfect fit. Winterblessed rounded out the Epic tier with a holiday theme that I think works better than people give it credit for. Then 2024 brought the big one. Dark Star Sylas as a full Legendary. And the Prestige T1 Sylas from Worlds. Nine skins, five years, zero misses in my opinion.

Best Sylas Skins You Should Actually Care About

Dark Star Sylas. Full stop. The Legendary treatment gave him new voice lines, completely reworked animations, and VFX that turn his chain abilities into these cosmic void tendrils. His Q sends out these dark matter projectiles that feel heavier than base. The W animation where he lunges in has this gravitational pull effect. Kinda feels like you're playing a different champion entirely. His E chain extends with this warped spacetime trail and his R, which already looks cool stealing ults, gets the full Dark Star treatment on every stolen ability. At 1820 RP its the premium option and it earns that price tag.

Ashen Slayer Sylas sits at Mythic tier so you cant just buy it from the shop. Loot exclusive. But if you roll it or craft it, keep it. The ashen corruption spreading through his model gives him this menacing presence in lane. The chains have ember particles on every ability cast. Played maybe 40 games with this one when I first got it from a chest last March and the Q detonation specifically looks incredible.

Not sure if it's just me but PROJECT: Sylas might be the best value Epic in his catalog. 1350 RP gets you a complete visual overhaul. The tech-augmented chains, the holographic effects on his passive hits, the futuristic recall animation. His E grapple in this skin looks like something out of a cyberpunk movie. The whole PROJECT line was built for champions with flashy kits and Sylas fits that mold perfectly.

Prestige PROJECT: Sylas takes that same foundation and goes white-gold premium. Mythic tier obviously so its event-locked. If you have it, you know. If you dont, PROJECT base is 90% of the experience anyway.

Lunar Wraith Sylas deserves respect as the OG. Released alongside the champion in 2019 and still a solid lock-in option. The wraith-infused chains have this ghostly trail on W and E that reads clean in teamfights. Not the flashiest anymore but there's a reason veteran Sylas mains still run it. Nostalgia factor is real.

Skinlines and Where Sylas Fits

Eight different skinlines across nine skins. Lunar Revel, Freljord, PROJECT, Anima Squad, Ashen Knights, Winterblessed, Dark Star, and World Champions 2024. Riot clearly sees Sylas as a skin-friendly champion and honestly they're right. His kit is so visually distinct with the chains that every thematic reimagining has clear design space to work with.

Dark Star fits him the best. No question. A champion whose entire identity is stealing power from others, placed in a skinline about cosmic entities that consume everything around them? Thematic home run. The corrupted space visuals on his chain abilities look like they belong there.

PROJECT is the second best fit. Might be overthinking it but the tech-augmented rebel angle works perfectly for Sylas lore-wise too. He's literally a revolutionary who stole magic from the establishment. PROJECT's cyberpunk resistance themes parallel that story beat for beat. (Also the neon VFX on his passive procs are just clean, purely from a visual standpoint.)

Freljord is fine. Works thematically because frozen chains look cool. Winterblessed is the holiday version of that same frozen concept. Both solid, neither exceptional. The Ashen Knights line is underrated on him though. That corrupted dark fantasy energy matches his gameplay pattern of absorbing and stealing, which gives the skin this predatory vibe in lane.

Real talk though the World Champions T1 prestige skin sits in its own category. Esports commemorative skins always feel different from regular thematics. Worth having if you're a T1 fan or a Sylas collector but it doesnt compete with Dark Star or PROJECT on pure visual quality.

Budget Picks vs Premium Investment

Here's the thing with Sylas. There's no cheap option. His lowest price point is 1350 RP across the board for purchasable skins. No 975 or 750 skins exist in his catalog. So "budget" for Sylas means picking the right Epic rather than going below Epic tier.

Best value pick is PROJECT: Sylas at 1350. Complete visual overhaul, strong VFX work on every ability, good recall animation. Been daily driving it in ranked when I dont feel like using Dark Star and it never feels like a downgrade from more expensive options. For the price it punches way above expectations.

Freljord Sylas is the other 1350 option worth considering if you prefer fantasy over sci-fi. Clean ice effects, readable in teamfights. Nothing fancy but nothing wrong with it either. Good enough for climbing without distracting you.

If you're willing to spend Legendary money, Dark Star at 1820 RP is the only answer. New VO, new animations, everything. The gap between Dark Star and the Epics is noticeable. Spammed this skin for three months straight after it dropped in 2024 and going back to base Sylas felt wrong. That said, 1350 for PROJECT is where I'd point anyone who mains Sylas but doesnt want to drop almost two thousand RP on cosmetics. Fair price for a strong skin.

The three Mythic skins, Prestige PROJECT, Ashen Slayer, and Prestige T1, you either have them or you don't. Can't just buy them from the shop. If you roll Ashen Slayer from Hextech crafting, that's a W. Keep it. The other two are event-specific and mostly for collectors at this point.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many skins does Sylas have?

Nine total as of 2024. Five Epics at 1350 RP, three Mythic-tier skins that rotate through loot or events, and one Legendary. Solid catalog for a champion thats only been around since 2019. Riot clearly likes making skins for him and the pace hasnt slowed down yet.

What is the best Sylas skin?

Dark Star Sylas. The Legendary treatment with new VO, reworked animations, and cosmic VFX on every ability. Not even close in my opinion. If you dont want to spend 1820 RP then PROJECT: Sylas at 1350 is the runner-up. Both are clean in ranked games.

What is the cheapest Sylas skin?

Every purchasable Sylas skin costs 1350 RP minimum. No budget 750 or 975 options exist. Freljord Sylas and PROJECT: Sylas are both 1350 and the best value. Sylas mains just have to accept Epic pricing as the floor. Could be worse honestly.

Does Sylas have a Legendary skin?

Yeah. Dark Star Sylas at 1820 RP. Dropped in 2024 and it goes hard. New voice lines, completely reworked animations, and Dark Star VFX on every chain ability plus stolen ults. Worth the price if you play him regularly. One of the better Legendaries released that year.

What skinlines is Sylas in?

Eight skinlines across nine skins. Lunar Revel, Freljord, PROJECT, Anima Squad, Ashen Knights, Winterblessed, Dark Star, and World Champions 2024. Dark Star and PROJECT fit him best in my experience. The chain VFX work in those themes is just chef's kiss.

Does Sylas have chromas?

Some of his Epic skins have chroma options. PROJECT: Sylas and a few others got chroma sets when they released. The prestige variants are basically fancy chromas themselves if you think about it. Check individual skin pages for exact chroma counts and color options.

When was Sylas's last skin released?

Dark Star Sylas and Prestige T1 Sylas both dropped in 2024. The Legendary Dark Star skin was the bigger release obviously. Two skins in one year is a good sign for Sylas mains. Means Riot sees him as a profitable skin champion going forward.

Is Sylas worth buying skins for?

If you main him or play him regularly, absolutely. His chain animations are visually distinct enough that skins actually change how the champion feels. Dark Star at Legendary tier is the obvious pick. PROJECT at 1350 if you're on a budget. Been maining Sylas with Dark Star this season and cant imagine going back to base.
