Heimerdinger Skins

9 skins available

Heimerdinger has one of those skin catalogs that flies under the radar for most players. Nine skins total across fourteen years of League history, and honestly the range from budget to premium is wild here. Been playing Heimer on and off since season 3, mostly as a top lane counterpick when the enemy locks in a melee champ who cant deal with turrets. His skins go from ancient 520 RP texture swaps to two full Legendary overhauls, and the quality gap between them tells you everything about how Riot's skin pipeline evolved. Not gonna lie, some of these hold up way better than they should.

How Heimerdinger's Skin Catalog Shaped Up Over the Years

Nine skins spanning 2010 to 2024. For a champion who's been in League since literal beta, thats a pretty modest number. Compare that to Lux or Ezreal sitting on 15+ each and you start to see where Heimer falls on Riot's priority list. Fair enough. He's niche. But the skins he does have cover a decent spread.

The tier breakdown goes like this: four Standard skins, three Epics, and two Legendaries. No Mythic, no Prestige, no Ultimate. Kinda feels like Riot keeps him in the "respected but not profitable" category. The two Legendaries are what carry his catalog though. Alien Invader dropped way back in 2010 and Dragon Trainer came in 2018, and both of them change enough about the champion to feel like completely different experiences on the Rift.

The Standard tier stuff is mostly legacy material at this point. Blast Zone, Piltover Customs, Snowmerdinger, Hazmat. These are skins from an era where "new model" meant a texture recolor and maybe a hat swap. (Random aside: Snowmerdinger is genuinely one of the best skin names Riot ever came up with.) They're cheap, they exist, and if you're climbing through ranked with Heimer you've probably seen exactly zero of them in your games this season.

The Epics filled in the middle ground starting with Pool Party in 2020 and then Heimerstinger and Arcane Professor more recently. Three solid 1350 RP options that actually change particles and give you something worth looking at during a 35 minute game. The catalog grew up. Slowly. But it got there.

Real talk though, nine skins in fourteen years means Heimer mains have waited through some brutal dry spells. There was a stretch from 2014 to 2018 with basically nothing new. Four years. If you were a Heimer one-trick during that period you just had to cope with Hazmat and hope for the best.

Best Skins for Heimerdinger

Dragon Trainer Heimerdinger is the one. Full stop. Released in 2018 at 1820 RP, this Legendary turns every single turret into a baby dragon. Your Q places little dragons that breathe fire. Your W shoots dragon fireballs. Your E is a dragon egg that bounces and stuns. Your R upgrades turn those dragons into absolute units. Been spamming this in Diamond for months and the animations still dont get old. The recall animation where Heimer pets the dragon? Clean.

Could be wrong here but I think Dragon Trainer might be one of the most underrated Legendaries in the entire game. Nobody talks about it because nobody plays Heimer. But the amount of new animation work, the custom VO, the completely reimagined turret models - this competes with Legendaries that cost the same on way more popular champions. The Dragon World skinline was made for this champion specifically. It fits.

Alien Invader Heimerdinger is the other Legendary and its a completely different vibe. 1820 RP, released all the way back in 2010. This one's historical. The turrets become alien tech, the abilities get sci-fi particles, and there's a retro B-movie energy to the whole package. Now look, by modern Legendary standards its showing its age. No new VO at launch (though it got updated eventually), and the model quality is season 1 era. But there's a charm factor here. Played maybe 30 games with this last split and I kept getting comments about it in chat. People forget this skin exists.

Pool Party Heimerdinger at 1350 RP is my pick for best Epic. The turrets are water guns. Literal water guns. Your W shoots pool noodles or something close to it. E is a beach ball. The whole thing is ridiculous in the best way possible. Locked this in during summer 2023 for like two weeks straight. In my ranked games around Plat-Diamond MMR nobody expects the Pool Party Heimer top and the mental warfare aspect is real.

Heimerstinger from the Bees! skinline is solid too. 1350 RP, bee-themed turrets that buzz. Not sure if it's just me but the Q turrets feel slightly harder to track against certain map skins because of the yellow coloring. Might be overthinking it but I swear I've gotten kills from people walking into turrets they didnt notice. The Bees! line is goofy and it works here.

Arcane Professor rounds out the Epics. Newest skin in the catalog, 2024 release, ties into the Arcane show aesthetic. Heimer in his professor outfit with Piltover-style hextech turrets. Good skin. Nothing groundbreaking at 1350 RP but the splash is gorgeous and the ability effects have that blue hextech glow that reads well in teamfights.

Skinlines and Themes That Work for Heimerdinger

Heimerdinger sits in eight different skinlines and some of them fit way better than others. Dragon World is the obvious winner. A mad scientist who builds sentient constructs? Give him baby dragons instead of turrets? That's genius level thematic design. The Pool Party line works too because Heimer's turrets translate perfectly into beach toys and the absurdity matches his character.

The Bees! skinline is newer territory for him and honestly it landed. Bee turrets buzzing around the lane while you cs and zone the enemy laner. Fits the "swarm of annoying things" gameplay pattern that Heimer mains know and love. (Sidebar for Heimer mains specifically: you know the feeling when three turrets and a grenade hit someone at once and they just evaporate.)

Piltover Customs is thematically perfect since Heimer is literally from Piltover. Hot rod themed turrets feel natural on an inventor champion. Road Warrior and Invaders lean into sci-fi territory which maps onto his mad scientist persona. Snowdown Showdown gave us Snowmerdinger which is basically a holiday gag skin and nothing more. Not every skinline needs to be deep.

The one I think works least is Hazmat. Day Job skinline, released 2014. Heimer in a hazmat suit with toxic turrets. It's fine. Just fine. Feels like a filler skin from an era where Riot needed to check a box. Might be my least played Heimer skin across all the ones I own, and I been collecting them since season 4 or 5 I think.

What I want to see next? Cosmic or Dark Star Heimerdinger. Imagine celestial turrets. Black hole grenades. The Q turrets could be miniature stars. Riot if you're reading this. Please.

Budget vs Premium: Where to Spend Your RP on Heimerdinger

The price spread on Heimer skins runs from 520 RP up to 1820 RP. Pretty standard range. If you're looking for the best value pick, Pool Party at 1350 RP punches hard. New particles on every ability, fun thematic, and the turret models are distinct enough that your lane opponent might tilt just from looking at them. That's the sweet spot for most players.

Dragon Trainer at 1820 RP is the premium play and it earns every RP. Full Legendary treatment with new VO, new animations, completely redesigned ability visuals. If you main Heimer and want one skin to represent your champion pool, this is the answer. Been daily driving it for two seasons now. No regrets.

On the budget end, Piltover Customs at 520 RP and Blast Zone at 520 RP are both ancient but cheap. Piltover Customs has a certain retro charm with the hot rod turrets. Not gonna lie, I used Piltover Customs exclusively from season 3 through season 7 before I could afford the Legendaries. It does the job. Snowmerdinger at 520 RP is seasonal fun if you play during December.

Skip Hazmat unless you're going for the full collection. 520 RP isn't much but it's 520 RP you could put toward Pool Party or save for the next Epic. Alien Invader at 1820 RP is a collector's piece more than a daily driver at this point. The nostalgia factor is real but Dragon Trainer outclasses it in every measurable way. Last Tuesday I switched back to Alien Invader for a few games and yeah, the age shows in the ability animations especially.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many skins does Heimerdinger have?

Nine skins total as of 2024. That includes two Legendaries, three Epics, and four Standard tier skins. Not a massive collection for a champion who's been in the game since beta, but the quality on the top end makes up for the quantity. Heimer mains have enough options to rotate through without getting bored.

What is the best Heimerdinger skin?

Dragon Trainer. Not even close. The baby dragon turrets, custom VO, completely new animations on every ability. Been running it in ranked for two seasons and nothing else comes close for Heimer. 1820 RP Legendary that actually earns the price tag. Pool Party at 1350 is the runner-up if you want something cheaper.

What is the cheapest Heimerdinger skin?

Blast Zone, Piltover Customs, Snowmerdinger, and Hazmat all sit at 520 RP. That's the floor for Heimer skins. Piltover Customs is probably the best value at that price point. Hot rod turrets, thematic fit with his Piltover lore. Old model quality but the charm is there if you're on a budget.

Does Heimerdinger have a Legendary skin?

Two Legendaries actually. Alien Invader from 2010 and Dragon Trainer from 2018. Both at 1820 RP. Dragon Trainer is the modern one with full new VO and animations. Alien Invader is more of a collector piece at this point. Shows its age but has that retro sci-fi energy that some players love.

What skinlines is Heimerdinger in?

Eight skinlines total: Invaders, Road Warrior, Piltover Customs, Snowdown Showdown, Day Job, Dragon World, Pool Party, and Bees. Pretty diverse spread. Dragon World and Pool Party fit him best in my opinion. The turret gimmick translates well into creative themes and Riot's leaned into that.

Does Heimerdinger have chromas?

Some of his newer skins do. Pool Party, Heimerstinger, and Arcane Professor all have chroma options. The older Standard skins and the two Legendaries dont have chromas. If chroma variety matters to you, the Epic tier skins are where you'll find it. Obsidian Heimerstinger goes hard if you like the dark color scheme.

When was Heimerdinger's last skin released?

Arcane Professor Heimerdinger in 2024. Ties into the Arcane show with that Piltover professor aesthetic. 1350 RP Epic. Before that was Heimerstinger from the Bees! line. Heimer's been getting more consistent skin releases lately which is nice after that brutal 2014-2018 drought where mains got absolutely nothing.

Is Heimerdinger worth buying skins for?

If you play him regularly, absolutely. Dragon Trainer alone justifies investing in Heimer cosmetics. The turret-based kit means skins change whats on screen constantly since your Q placements are everywhere during lane phase and teamfights. More visual impact per RP than most champions honestly. Even one good skin makes the champion feel fresh.
