High Command Katarina

Not gonna lie, this skin caught me off guard when I first saw it loading in. High Command Katarina has this whole military officer vibe that you dont really see on assassins. Played against one in ranked last season and had to look it up after the game. The splash sold me before I even saw the in-game model. Something about Katarina in a disciplined military uniform just works, even though she’s the last champion you’d expect to follow orders.

So what actually changes here. High Command Katarina swaps her usual leather outfit for a dark military coat with gold trim and epaulettes. Think authoritarian general aesthetic. The daggers get a slight color shift to match the palette but honestly the model changes are what you’d expect from a 750 RP Standard tier skin. No new particles on her Q bounces, no updated Shunpo VFX, no fresh Death Lotus animation. Base voice lines, no changes.

The in-game silhouette reads differently though. Been running this in Diamond a few times when I want something cleaner than the base skin, and the coat gives Katarina a slightly bulkier profile that I think actually helps her blend in teamfights. Could be wrong here but she looks less like the obvious assassin threat when she’s dressed like a commander instead of an assassin. Her recall is the standard one.

The color scheme leans dark green and gold. Works well on Summoner’s Rift because the green doesnt clash with the map the way some older skins do. Simple change – huge impact on how she reads in lane. Played maybe 15 games with this one last March and the model held up better than I expected for a 2011 release.

Where High Command fits in Katarina’s lineup

The skin falls under the Bilgewater: Mercs line, which is interesting because the military aesthetic feels more Noxian than Bilgewater to me. Might be overthinking it but the thematic connection is loose at best.

750 RP puts High Command Katarina in comfortable territory. No chromas available, so what you see is what you get. For context, Katarina has a massive skin catalog at this point. You’ve got PROJECT, Blood Moon, Battle Queen, Faerie Court, the new Chosen of the Wolf line. High Command is the budget pick for people who want variety without dropping 1350 or 1820 RP.

(Random aside: I keep this skin in my rotation specifically for when I’m autofilled mid and want to tilt the enemy laner by looking like I have zero games on Katarina.) Shop has it permanently, so no vault anxiety.

Should you pick up High Command Katarina?

Real verdict: this is a solid 750 RP skin that does exactly what it promises. You get a fresh model with a cool military theme. No bells and whistles. No new Q daggers spinning with special effects, no fancy Shunpo trail, no upgraded ult VFX. Thats the trade-off at this price point.

If you’re a Katarina one-trick climbing through ranked and you want something cheap to rotate in, High Command earns its spot. I think it’s actually underrated compared to Bilgewater Katarina or Mercenary Katarina from the same era. The gold detailing on the coat pops in a way those other legacy-era skins dont manage. Skip this if you already own Death Sworn or PROJECT though. Those are different leagues entirely. Worth 750 RP if you main Katarina and want the full collection, but it’s not the skin that’ll make you lock in Kat over your other picks. Best suited for collectors and players who appreciate the old school catalog. Been around since pre-6 rework Katarina and still holds up in bot lane skirmishes and late-game teamfight dives.
