First time I saw T1 Gnar pop up on PBE I immediately thought of Faker hoisting another Worlds trophy and Gnar getting the esports treatment he honestly deserved way earlier. The World Champions 2024 line celebrates T1’s back-to-back dominance and Gnar finally gets to wear the red and white. Locked it in the same day it hit live. No hesitation.
What T1 Gnar actually looks like in game
Not gonna lie, the model work is clean for what it is. Mini Gnar runs around in the T1 jersey colors, heavy on the reds and silvers with that signature branding. The boomerang reads well against the Rift which matters more than people think when you’re trying to cs in lane. Mega Gnar keeps the color scheme and scales it up nicely, the transformation still feels impactful visually even without new VFX.
Voice lines stay base. Standard for esports skins and I dont think anyone expected otherwise. Base VO works fine here, Gnar’s gibberish language is universal enough that it fits any theme. No new recall animation either, which is a bit of a miss since the esports skins sometimes get fun ones with trophies or team logos. The particles on Q, W, E, R are all default. Purely a model and texture swap.
Kinda feels like Riot played it safe with the VFX budget on this one. The World Champions skins vary a lot in quality depending on which champion got picked. Some get little extras, some are straight reskins. T1 Gnar falls in the latter camp. Still looks good though. The red pops hard in teamfights, especially when you’re diving the backline as Mega and your R stuns three people against a wall. Had a game last Friday where the enemy Jinx typed “nice skin” after I ulted her into baron pit. Small victories.
The World Champions 2024 line and T1’s legacy
World Champions: 2024 is the skinline here. T1 winning Worlds again was kind of inevitable if you watched the tournament. The org’s track record speaks for itself and the skins commemorate that run. Legacy vault skin so you cant just grab it whenever you want. These esports celebration skins rotate in during specific events and then disappear back into the vault.
There’s one chroma available. The Elite version swaps the palette to a deeper red with silver-grey accents. Honestly its a subtle shift from the base but if you’re a T1 fan collecting the full set it completes the look. (Random aside: I have like 9 esports skins across different years and they’re basically a timeline of my fandom.)
Epic tier pricing at 1350 RP is standard for esports commemorative skins. For a model-only change with no new particles or recall, 1350 RP feels steep compared to other Epics that pack in custom VFX. But esports skins have always been partly about repping the team, partly about the in-game look. You’re paying for the association as much as the cosmetic.
Should you pick up T1 Gnar?
Real verdict: this skin is for two groups of people. T1 fans and Gnar mains who want every skin in the collection. If you fall into both categories this is an easy lock-in. If you’re just looking for the best Gnar skin to climb with in Diamond, there’s stronger options. Dino Gnar still hits different after all these years, Astronaut Gnar has better VFX, and Gentleman Gnar has the meme factor that never gets old.
Been running this in ranked for maybe 15 games since it dropped. The model is sharp, the colors read well, the transformation to Mega still feels satisfying. But every time I swap back to Astronaut I notice how much the custom particles add to the experience. T1 Gnar is a vibe purchase not a gameplay one.
Could be wrong here but I think these World Champions skins age well as collector items. Season 3 SKT skins are basically artifacts at this point. In the Legacy pool so grab it when the vault opens if you care about the esports history angle. Skip it if you just want the flashiest Gnar skin for solo queue, because Elderwood and Super Galaxy both outclass it on pure visual wow factor. For T1 faithful though, 1350 RP well spent for mains who want to rep the dynasty.
